Ranked from 24 ratings. Score is adjusted from raw score by the median number of ratings per game in the jam.

In what way does your game fit the theme?
Use cassette player inspired power-ups (rewind, fast-forward, and pause) to destroy bad sounds waves coming to ruin your music in this multidirectional shooter.

Did you write most of the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes! Dustin was busy with the programming while Hunter got to do all the fun things (music, art, sfx, particles).

Really loved the aesthetics on your game. The audio and visuals were complimentary and the game play was fun too!

Great job!

Could you please play and rate my game as well?

fun game! great job on the music!

Yesss this music, had to play multiple times to enjoy it - really liked the sped-up version too, to wake you up in the morning.

And controller support, awesome, worked well on my PS4 controller with web build.

My only criticism is that it was hard to tell enemy projectiles from all the other things going on.

High score: 4119 :)

Great job!

One of my favorite parts of this game was the sound design. Shooting sounded kind of like a bass thump so I would shoot in rhythm with the music.

Nice and simply game! It feels really polished

Nice game! I enjoyed playing. I like the particle effects and the music.

I didn't like so much that power-ups are not very useful. For example, the rewind power-up should not rewind the player, too. That would make it more strategic.

But overall, good first game!! Keep that good work!

Enjoyed the enemy graphics and the music was really good. Only critique would be that the player movement could be a little bit more snappy. But other than that really cool game!

It's honestly a little slow paced, and I found that the optimal strategy is to spin in circles while shooting. It could definitely be a lot more chaotic with some enemy variety. The game looks really nice and the audio is good as well. The theming of the power ups is great as well. Good work!

Variety in enemy and weapon types was definitely on the "stretch goals" list  - mostly just a limitation of the Jam time limit. Thank you for your feedback!

Fun gameplay, but I think it might be better if the player could turn slightly faster. Overall very good.

Cool sound design. I was trying to time the beat of my bullets with the music. fun game nice one

It was a little tough to tell between what could hurt me and what couldn't, and the player felt a little sluggish, but overall, it's pretty fun!

Developer (1 edit)

Sluggish because of the ship controller or because the webgl build was lagging? Thanks for playing/reviewing!

Submitted(+1)

Game looks well, sounds well. Player could be a bit faster tho

Developer(+1)

You can hold W/Up to boost - not sure if we had made that clear. Thanks for the review!

Awesome sound design- I really like the synthwave aesthetic, the music, shooting sound effect (love that!) and the artstyle all mesh together really well. Nice job!

Score: 1885. It looks gorgeous and the audio paired with the gameplay is awesome, I have to try that some day.

I'd also suggest for having more difference between explosions an enemies like other reviewers. But hell, you even implemented upgrades. It's incredibly polished, and, with just a few more UI elements for the title page and the shop, it would be production-ready.

Great job!

Developer

Thanks! Appreciate it.

Man some serious bass on that bullet, I like it haha. I love the way you incorporated the play controls into the level. Only feedback would be to make the explosion particles a different color then the enemy particles. Sometimes hard to tell the difference.

Developer

That's good feedback. Thanks a lot.

Enjoyed the mechanics of the game. Nice Job! Enjoyed the theme and color scheme. Keep it up!

I'd love to hear your input on my submission, I'm going to be continuing it after the jam so and criticisms / suggestions / feedback are welcome!

Amazing music! Well done!

Thats custom music? Wow, nice work. The shooting gave my sub woofer a workout though.

Developer

lmaooo I knew that would be an issue but I was too tired 😭 my brother's loving the music praise tho! Thanks!

Wow the soundtrack is amazing!

I like the game and how you added the rewind, as a power-up.Good job.

I found a bug(i think). when you rewind, the waves(enemies) are transforming into small dots and don't move)

*maybe you would also like to play my submission*

Developer

Ahh, dang. I must've broken something late last night.
