Hi I liked your game :D I like the how the music speeds up to make it more intense! I was really bad at the game but it was still enjoyable. The only complaint is that sometimes the obstacles felt kind of unfair especially the first level. I got boxed in by  5 squashing things and died :(

Developer

as its the first room and you lose max of 15 sec i didnt feel the need to spend so much time on making sure the randomness is fair but i am aware of this problems. anyways thank you for playing the game :)

Submitted(+1)

yep I was able to start a new round very fast so it wasn't a huge problem :>

Hey, this is the type I like. Unfortunately, sometimes it seems a bit lucky.

What a challenging game. I managed to reach 1:03 before dying, and sadly I couldn’t make it back to the 5th stage. It’s incredibly frustrating learning each pattern, only to die from the slightest mistake on the player’s part.

This honestly felt like playing Dark Souls in 2D.

00:00 – The first level I eventually figured out… and cheesed by mashing the dash key in the corner. There’s a good chance the pillars will bug out and won’t kill the player.

00:15 – On the second level, I ran and jumped onto the wall, trying to position myself where the saw blades weren’t travelling. Then I’d hop over them whenever possible.

00:30 – Nice little break for my hands.

00:45 – The third level introduces the homing circles. You have to dodge and pray for good spawns. Then I discovered you can block the homing circles once they turn into squares.

01:00 – The fourth level is spikes everywhere. The spikes only killed me once on the platform, and I realised I should’ve hugged the wall and spammed dash like my life depended on it. I guess the intended method is avoiding the spiked sections while sticking to safe surfaces.

The difficulty ramps up really well, with each level introducing new patterns and challenges to learn. Sadly, I kept dying before I got to the minute mark again, so I threw in the towel. I’d love to see you play through your own game with a death counter—because mine has to be in the hundreds.

I really enjoyed the varied techno music too, especially with how fast-paced the game is.

Otherwise, great game tofi123!

Developer(+1)

you got pretty far! The fifth level is the last one before it loops again.

I can record me playing the game if you want. My personal record is 3 minutes. Its not an easy game.

As the developer of the game the only challenging level is the saw room. All the others i can flawless.

Seems like you enjoyed the game and had played it quite a bit so im thankful to hear that. Thanks for the feedback

Man im so bad at these games.. high score 25 sec lol.. The game is fun unfortunately i couldnt get past the level with the discs i tried a lot, trust me :D But i think its just my skill issue. Tha being said, i felt that the difficulty jump fromthe first to the second could have been slightly lower! That was the only issue i had with the game - overall it was really cool - the gameplay was great - jumping, running, double jumping felt really smooth and fair and whenever i died it was never because of the controls. The art was terrific - i like minimalistic art in games and youve managed to do a lot with just a few colors. The animations of the puzzles were so good! well done. THe music and sound were great. Just one small issue i had was after winning the first level - the sound used was something i would use if i died or lost so i was a bit confused  :D The theme integration was also done well. Overall a great entry, congrats :)

Developer

Thank you very much for the feedback. I would definitely try for next time to make my games easier for the players

The game is really engaging, but also quite difficult haha. I've lost count of how many times I died without even reaching the blue room (though that might just be due to my lack of skills when it comes to having quick reflexes).

The controls were responsive, which made gameplay a lot easier. The only thing that really got in my way was, in fact, my own abilities. However, there was just one moment where the game itself felt unfair. It's clear that obstacles are randomly generated, and in one instance, within the first 15 seconds, I found myself in a spot completely surrounded by pipes that crushed me without any chance of doing anything about it.

I saw you were quite concerned about the yellow room, but don’t worry—it’s definitely there haha. However, it’s much harder than the red phase. One thing I felt was missing in the yellow phase was some kind of indication of when the blades would be launched. In the red phase, the pipes have a slight tremor that signals when they’ll collide. But in the yellow phase, the blades are simply thrown without any warning, making it much harder than intended and significantly steepening the difficulty curve quickly.

The blue room was a nice touch for the game, giving players a moment to breathe without the risk of dying, and allowing them to prepare both physically and mentally for the next challenges.

The gray room... That was my final room because I just couldn’t get past it at all. I felt the spheres were considerably faster than the player, and since it turns into a fixed square after a while, I think it would be interesting if its speed was reduced, considering that the player also depends on luck to avoid getting hit by them.

Despite being minimalist, the graphics worked really well, largely due to the particle effects and the squash-and-stretch animation for jumps and falls. However, I did feel that sometimes the collision area was bigger than expected, causing some elements to hit me in a way that initially seemed a bit unfair.

The fact that you included random music was also a nice touch; I really enjoyed it, and I’ve even heard one of the tracks on another site while searching for music for my own games.

Overall, it’s a really fun and solid game, congratulations! Wishing you the best of luck in the jam!

Developer

gread suggestions. I was too focused of the player that i forgot that EVERYTHING needs to be indicated to the player. Evrything needs to be linked to animation. I will keep that in mind for next time

Thank you for the feedback :)

Good luck in the jam as well!

General:

The game looks super professional. The graphics are simple but enhanced with various effects. The music is catchy and fitting, the gameplay is intuitive and simple, yet very motivating thanks to the well-designed controls. At the beginning, the game was a bit too hard for me (but I'm simply not good at reaction-based games), and I would have wished for an EASY mode where you maybe start with three lives. But that’s probably just due to my own lack of skill. Sometimes I had the feeling the hitbox might be a bit unfair, maybe consider making it a tiny bit less big.

Graphics:
The graphics are very simple and somewhat reminiscent of ā€œJust Shapes & Beats.ā€ Thanks to the many effects, everything looks great. The shapes are clear and easy to distinguish, and the chosen colors make everything easily readable. Overall, it looks like a professional casual game!

Music/Sound:
The music is well chosen. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any information about the assets in the credits, and since I didn’t see a composer listed, I’m assuming they’re asset tracks. I’d be interested to know who created the music — I really like it! Sound effects are fitting - could be a bit more at times to enhance player feedback.

Theme:
One level is one room, with new rooms constantly appearing (or it’s one room that changes significantly over time) — there are no camera cuts, so I’d say the theme is fulfilled.

Conclusion:
A truly excellently presented action game with simple yet motivating gameplay! Awesome entry!

Developer

thank you very much for the detailed feedback. i liked that you divided it into segments. i did realize the game was way to hard for players who doesnt come from this kind of genera, i am sorry about that.

the music tracks are assets created by "Juhani Jankala" i didnt really know where should i credit him for that as its free assets and not made for this jam.

(shapes and beats looks so cool i have to try it!!)

Love the pace and mechanics, feels very refreshing. No crazy graphics just a good focus on gameplay. At times it felt a bit unfair because it looked like my character didn't hit a spike but still died. But that just means you give it another try!!

Reminded me a lot of super meatboy and N game. Really enjoyed it!

Developer

Meny people have mentioned these two games, never played any of them XD i mainly took insperation for the player from hollow knight

Thank you for playing

Submitted(+1)

Great frantic gameplay, matching music and a steep difficulty curve. What's not to like. Great entry!

Developer

Thank you :)

Submitted(+1)

Beautiful game and for the looks of it it seems the obstacle are randomly placed? i noticed that in every multiple playthrough the obstacles always go in different direction and doesn't go in pattern, it makes the game hard to progress because i can only rely on reflex and luck but it still challenging XD I can only managed to reach the 4th one where the orb follow you and when it close enough it become a static block, that one is super creative not gonna lie! Great game! but i'm sorry that i can't finish it :(

Developer(+1)

You got further then most people!

everything is indeed random. I wanted to try to keep the game fresh beacuse the game loops, so it wont be that boring to try to set a higher score each time.

Thenk you for playing :)

Nice game, hard and juicy! Although I'd add even more juice)

Developer

Thank you for playing :)

Onestly couldnt find a way to keep the room static and add more juice

This game is amazing! First the controls feel super tight and polished, I loved the design of the character controller. The visuals are also done super well with the vignette effect and I loved the animations of the character.
The idea is super creative and felt super fun to play. I loved that the level actually changed and it shocked me for the first time and it just felt fresh every new level.
And probably one of the best parts was the music. I absolutely loved how the music changed and fit the vibe of each level, it was genuinely so peak.
Overall super fun game, probably one of my favorites

Developer

Thank you for the kind words🫶

I think this game is very solid, from the idea to the execution everything is done atleast somwhat well.

The movement overall felt nice to play, especially the variable jump height was very fun to play with, but one major gripe is the double jump not having that variability, and always going max height, it threw me off quite a bit.

I loved that the game had different/multiple music tracks, it made the constant grind feel much less annoying/ monotonous, I just wished that there were a few sound effects because at times, it did feel a little empty.

The difficulty is very high mainly due to the randomness of alot of the attacks , that 2nd phase (yellow zone) was especially difficult, becuase of how unpredictable the buzzsaws were, in terms of when they fired.

I think that despite my complaints, the game is still a very fun arcade style game, that I could definitely see myself coming back to :)

Developer

Glad to hear you liked it. Seems like you are not the only one who had problems with the second room...

i had two playtesters and they both managed to beat the room no problem. i need to find worst playtesters next time XD

actually missed the fact that the second jump is at set hight, ill go fix that!

Thank you for the feedback

Beautiful minimalist presentation with an impressively fleshed out player controller, cool entry!! The sfx and background music fit very nicely. The way the player tilts to the side based on the direction was a fun bit of juice. The tutorial screen was very effective at explaining all the movement options without being a chore to read, nice job.

I also couldn't get past 23 seconds, but I am bad at these sort of games so could just be a skill issue. It's certainly a rage game lol :) I enjoyed my time with your game and I think you nailed the aesthetic of it, keep up the good work!!

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much. I have spent a lot of time on the controller so i am glad it turned out well

I will try to keep in mind for next time to make the game easier. Beacuse i really wanted players to finish the game but seems like everyone is stuck in the second stage (harder then the ones after it)

Submitted(+1)

I struggled a bit to pass the stages šŸ¤Æ but the 15-second challenge is really exciting.

Developer

Yeah it seems like i made the game too hard...

thank you for playing :)

Submitted(+1)

This hits the simplistic feel and feels very polished. A very difficult game but incredibly fun concurrently.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing, i hope it wasnt too difficult šŸ˜…

Submitted(+1)

I only lasted about 20 seconds but played for a couple of minutes. I’m not very skilled at those games anyways so I’m not the best judge

Submitted(+1)

This game looks great- it's minimalism done as it should be. The background music is great, the sounds also fit the gameplay nicely.

One problem- I get killed precisely at 23 seconds. For some reason I reached 23 seconds multiple times, but never can get past it :( I guess it's been some time since my super meat boy years :)

Developer

Oh man i nerfed this room SO many times... oof i thought i managed to nail the difficulty, i guess my playtesters were too good XD

thank you for playing :)

Submitted(+1)

I absolutely love the visuals and sound design. The gameplay is top-notch as well. Controls feel tight if maybe a touch on the floaty side with jumps but that's a minor thing.

Sometimes the obstacles hide each other too much (second room is an example of this) or they appear in positions where they simply can't be avoided. The main example of the second point is the first room. On more than one occasion, I had pistons close on the space I was in without having anything faded away enough for me to escape. Feels like bad luck more than bad decision making.

Cool game, though! Nice product for the available time!

Developer

Im glad you enjoyed the game. Since it is the first room i felt like it is ok to keep a bit of luck base mechanics since you only loose 15 sec at max and it keeps the game refreshing. Ty for rating the game
