Thank you for playing my game! I def shouldve added settings to the gameplay asw and not only start screen😅
As for Ian actually you arent Ian, the monster bassically possesed Ian while you were asleep and tried to eliminate the full ship before they ran out of time. Then you woke up to deal with the mess
Hey there! Just played your game and I must say this is amazing :D. The puzzle design is so good and I still don't understand how the actual mechanic works😅, kinda just trial and errored my way through the levels but it is super cool. The art is also really simplistic and nice and I think it fits the tone of the game, and I do appreciate the tutorial and the gizmos on the top left. I don't have any real critique for this game because this is prob the game I've spent the longest for this game jam because it was super fun to play. The only thing I'd probably say is you should maybe prompt the user to undo their action when they die or automatically respawn them because I restarted the game when I died the first time😅
Other than that, it's a great game jam entry so good job :D
Hey there! So I just played your game and I thought it was a really nice game. It was amazing that there was a tutorial and I did think it has a lot of potential to be a great game because the art and lighting is really good but there are definitely a few rough edges.
Here are my points of improvements:
- Right now the grapple is way too hard to control, it kinda freezes you on the spot and sometimes I can't call the grapple? I think making the grapple controls easier to call and allowing movement might be better. Also I think the controls are a bit finnicky because the grapple aim is tied to the movement keys so letting the grapple move forward means you also have to move forward. So I personally think you should separate the grapple aim from movement (I would personally suggest maybe mouse direction)
- I definitely think you should add support to WASD and Spacebar as well, because that's also another kind of control a lot of people use and I use that as well, so it would be a nice accessibility feature
This game defo has potential to be something great! So keep working on it and goodluck :D
Hey there, just played your game. I must say this is definitely an interesting concept and super cool way to learn physics. The art and music are just so good and on point with the theme of this game so great job on that, I really loved it. The main menu is super creative as well :D and the concept of the game is just amazing.
Here are some points of improvements:
- I think the main issue I personally faced where the controls were a bit finnicky, if I wanted to repel one of the electrons, I had to position myself so that I can see both the atom I am targeting + the electron I am repelling. I think free camera movement should be enabled when repelling just so its easier.
- Whenever I combined 2 atoms I lowk lost them, so it would be nice to somehow keep track of where your combined atoms go :D
Other than that, I thought it was a great game and just a super cool concept. I would love to see this polished up and being made into a full game :D, it would be a great way to learn physics and chemistry
Hey there! Just played ur game and I thought it was really cool :D. First of all I love the simplistic aesthetic and the just overall art direction of the game, I thought it was really nice. The music was also great as well :D. So good job on those 2 aspects. The movement felt crisp and throwing the boomerang was really fun especially hitting enemies.
Here are some points of improvements:
- Don't know how well this will work but definitely try adding some hit sound effects when you hit the enemy and maybe some screenshake (when you hit the enemy) or some extra game juice because right now the only screenshake and sound effect is when you throw the boomerang, I think you should definitely juice up the enemy hit more.
- This is more of a suggestion in the future but I could definitely see combo meters and how many enemies you hit at once with a boomerang increasing a score which I thought would be really cool for this kind of game :D
Other than that I really enjoyed this game :D. It fit the theme really well, and the art music and game feel is all there, so great job :D
Hey there! I just played your game and it was a very nice platformer :D. I thought it was a really cool mechanic and I enjoyed it. I liked how you incorporated the toggling platformers and the gravity switching! It opens up some really cool level design :D.
There is a bug in one of the levels with 2 lasers and u have to click the button at the bottom of the map, I just don't die if I fall😅, so I kinda got soft locked there
One critique I had was the gravity scale was wayy too high in my opinion, it definitely should be reduced, but other than that its a great game :D
Hey there! I just played your game and I have to say its really nice and I had fun :D. It's definitely one of the more polished games in this jam and also I did enjoy the music a lot, I thought it was great. I appreciate the tutorial and it was pretty clear on what you had to do. This is definitely a skill issue but I can't reach the 1k target after trying multiple times😭😭😭
Here are some points of improvements:
- I don't think the bar on the side was every really explained, (I still don't know what it does)
Other than that, I thought it was a nice game, so great job :D
Hey there! Just played your game and thought it was a nice cute platformer :D
I loved the pixel art a lot and probably one of the best aspects of the game, it was super neatly designed so great job :D
The windmills was a great addition as the theme, I would suggest make it a bit more white so it's more understandable that its a foreground object
Here are some points of improvements:
- This game definitely needs coyote time. I think that's an essential control for any platformer because it make the platformer feel better. Right now your game has potential, if you add that the game would feel a lot better to play
- I might just be bad at platformers but just a bit more checkpoints might be nice, because I thought the checkpoints was way too far apart
Other than that its a nice cute platformer so great job :D
Hey there! I just played your game. I have to say its an amazing interpretation of the theme and probably one of my favourites. I really did enjoy it and how you took that simple mechanic and expanded upon it a bit and I think there's more room for expansion but for the jam's constraints it was great :D. I didn't have time to read the texts much because I was mainly focused on clicking the spinning things at the right time😅
I thought the art style and music were great as well and complemented each other very nicely
Overall it was a great game and I did enjoy playing it :D
Hey there, just played your game and thought it was amazing! I loved the roguelike element and the Balatro inspiration to it. I thought it was very well executed with a lot of abilities and powerups :D. The SFX is well done and the music also complements the game nicely. I do also appreciate that its clear and there's a tutorial on button prompts so the player knows what they are doing.
I don't have any real critiques for this game because I kinda suck at roguelikes anyways😭, but I did enjoy this so great job :D
Hey there! This is a pretty cool game and we had a very similar interpretation to the theme :D so thats cool
I thought the concept of the game was very nice however I did find it was a bit unclear from a game design perspective (I had to watch the videos to understand what I was doing). For example in Level 1, I did not know those blueish tiles are walkable and I could get to the otherside😅. So that's just something to keep in mind, making the game a bit more clear. Other than that, I enjoyed the game :D good job
Hey there! It's a pretty cool game :D
I liked the hamster jumping and collecting the apples, I thought the sound effects were nice and the simplistic art style was really cool as well.
Here are some points of improvements:
- A simple in game tutorial would be nice because I didn't know you could jump until I read the description😭
- Some background music would be nice and add to the overall game :D
Other than that, its pretty cool
Hey there! So I just played your game and its a really nice game especially for your first game so good job :D.
The movement felt solid and it was a funny concept of throwing a fidget spinners and the game juice was definetly there!
Here are some points of improvements:
- I think the camera is a bit too zoomed in, it might be a personal preference but I'd recomend zooming the camera out a bit for certain rooms.
- I think the fidget spinners effects are great at the start but I think they're a bit too much if we constantly keep doing them. You'd usually want that level of effects for a super heavy attack.
overall cool game, great job :D
Ooooh it might be because of that. To be honest, I'm not sure whether you should actually do a jump cooldown😅, don't know if its a stylistic choice but most platformers dont do it because they want their jump to feel responsive.
Since you're using Unity I'd suggest you look into Cinemachine and how to setup multiple Virtual Cameras, that's what I did for my game and that should help a lot for the camera!
Really cool game! I liked the idea and I think it fits the theme really well. I can definitely see this being expanded with more platforming challenges like moving platforms, spikes, etc.
Here are some points of improvements:
- I think the camera movement could use some work, because in sections where I had to jump down I was just holding myself to the wall hoping there's a floor under me😅. So maybe having different cameras for different rooms with different offsets might be better here! I also think you could use a room based camera system like Celeste does and it might help improve your game a lot!
- Sometimes I felt my jump input was ignored? I don't know if that's because the cage doesen't count as grounded or no cyote time but maybe you should look into that😁.
Other than that I think this was a solid game jam game that puts a good twist on the platformer genre and perfectly fits the theme! So great job :D and good luck.
(Edit: I will rate it after I finish the games in my queue😁)
Hey there! So I just finished playing your game and I thought it was amazing! The pixel art and music is probably some of my favorite aspects of this game, I think the music fit really well and the pixel art overall just felt polished. I appreciate that you added a bit of a tutorial as well (showing the controls in the game) which I think is great :D. The combat feels very nice and I did like how the boss's attacks were telegraphed because if I'm not mistaken there's a certain sound when you hit the boss that plays right before it attacks right? I thought it was great, because it never felt unfair then on the player!
Here are some points of improvements:
- When the boss starts attacking for some reason the SFX gets way too loud and almost sounds like it got bass boosted for some reason. I think without that effect or maybe just toning that down would be great!
Other than that, I thought this was an amazing game jam entry so good job! :D
Thank you so much for playing our game! Im glad you liked the atmosphere and what we were going for :D. I didn't know about the mouse sensitivity issue, we should probably increase the range then😅. And for the reload weapon automatically, that's a great suggestion! Thanks for letting us know that :D.
Thank you again for this very detailed review ! Best of luck to you too as well. :D
Thank you for playing our game! I did thought I added some screenshake effects and sound effects when the golem hits the ground😅.
The weapon keep shooting during reload was a complete overlook, so thanks for pointing that out :D. Also I didn't know about the whole collision overlap thing as well😅😅. But thanks for giving your feedback :D
Hey there, so I played this game and unfortunately I had no one to play it with so I wasn't able to judge it fully gameplay wise. However I do like the concept a lot, I think its great idea and a foundation for something solid. The movement felt solid and the minimalistic art style of the players was great.
Here are some points of improvements / future suggestions:
- The game lacks SFX and game feel overall, I think shooting the player should have SFX tied to it, and maybe some particle effects + screenshake to really convey the feeling of being hit.
- A tutorial would always be nice, teaching both players the controls of course.
- I couldn't figure out how to do the whole knockback feature for some reason😅, I shot the player but I never got knocked back.
This is just a personal preference, but it seems like the battle takes place in space, so for the movement specifically adding lesser friction and making the player drift in that direction might be cool? This of course is if the battle takes place in space.
In the future you could always add more bullet upgrades, health upgrades, fire rate upgrades, etc. This game can be expanded on to something great! So good job on the game jam entry and good luck for the future of this game!
Congrats on finishing your first game! That's a great milestone, you do learn a lot of stuff when you finish a first game :D. You definitely put a lot of thought into the design so that's amazing. And yes testing is super important because you never know how it plays with people who have no idea how it was made. Well Goodluck on fixing these issues and your next jam!
