very great game!! the movement was my favorite part of the whole game. you all really nailed the "fast paced platformer" vibe. I played until I got to 6 coins, but I feel like I could've gone longer. also, the interpretation of the second theme was very nice! I was hoping for nice prizes from the slot machine, then when I got my first modifier, I remembered the theme. XD

awesome work!!

Love the casino theme of this entry and I think the unique color palette adds to the casino feel. The main mechanic of the debuff slots gives the levels extra challenge. The only problem I really have is for some reason when I would kill the crow enemy the game would freeze but luckily is was only for a few seconds but beside that nice game.

I got bubsied when I rolled 777, increasing knockback, and getting pushed into a hole and respawning on top of the enemy that pushed me into it.

Other than that, it sounds nice and it looks nice. The sprites are maybe a bit too big such that you can't really see, or hit enemies off screen while they can snipe you from across the level. I do think the background is maybe a bit too noisy sometimes, but it does look appropriately glitter.

this was really buggy for me unfortunately, periodically freezing and at some point all the SFX stopped playing. The freezing thing I have encountered before (and my gut is telling me its a godot issue connected to online leaderboard functionality - but don't hold me to that!)

what I did get to experience was great. art and music top notch. color pallet was appropriate for the casino vibe, and its authentically gameboy to play. nice work!

Thanks for playing and for the feedback. I’m assuming you’re on Windows, because unfortunately Windows web has the most pronounced issues for some reason :) I hope you’ll try our post-jam release, which should have the following issues fixed:

  • 2 freezes around 3 seconds during the very first level load
  • 1 long freeze per level on the first crow death
  • sfx ends on the first scene change (after level 1 basically)
  • leaderboard submission page broken for some
  • some more small bugs

And if you ran into issues not listed, I would love to hear it! Thanks again, and glad you enjoyed the parts that worked for you.

Beautiful on an artistic and sonic level, congratulations!

This is really fun, a very good game. I really like the music and the style.

Great music!   I like the aesthetic.   Nice work.

Good game, only had issues with performance... getting stuck for a few seconds at random (defeating an enemy was one of the bigger causes it seems)

I got recommended this game and I can say it lived up to the hype! The only criticisms I have are related to performance issues others have already highlighted, so I'll spare you that. The game was fun, the music fit the vibe super well, and the incorporation of the theme was good. Overall, great work!

That was cool! A jazzy maze platformer; reminded me a lot of Sonic CD. I especially like how readable the art is, it makes parsing the levels quite easy. The song makes me feel like I gotta get a move on, and the levels were (mostly) fair and balanced, taking on novel characteristics with each downgrade.

I'll avoid reiterating issues other commenters noticed, except for the consistent few seconds of game freeze every time I carded a bird for the first time in a level. That was really strange!

This might just be a skill issue on my part, but I don't see much downside to the Speed Up perk. I could just be too experienced with slippy-fast platforming, but even the prospect of getting hit or slipping off platforms was outweighed heavily by the extremely reduced time to make corrections at such high speed, paired with the ability to soar over entire stages in a single bound.

The difficulty curve becomes quite flat after all coins are reached; the time reduction is so minimal, it poses little increase in challenge. In an endless arcade-style game, especially in a game jam context, it's important for the difficulty to meaningfully increase in short bursts of time, otherwise players will reach a skill level where the question isn't "How much can I beat before it becomes too difficult?" but instead "How much can I beat before I get bored?" I was beginning to reach that point, but got softlocked first.

Speaking of; my two runs ended on two softlocks... I think. I could've just missed something. First, I think this jump in the pit level is literally impossible at low speed.

Second, I don't think I can get this coin in the cage without my attack.

All-in-all, great work! That was really fun!

Developer(+1)

Glad you enjoyed it (for awhile) and thank you for the thorough feedback. Unfortunately I pushed the game from too hard to way too easy in a last minute balance attempt. Sorry about the softlocks. I ran into the first one myself yesterday too. In the 2nd one, technically the hitboxes do allow you to slip past the cannon, but I don’t expect players to need to resort to gimmicks. We knew about impossible situations from slow and increased knockback(infinite death loop D:), but didn’t think about no cards! Thanks for bringing it up.

I’m hoping to push a post-jam release cleaning up the issues pretty much as soon as voting ends. Hope to see your name on the leaderboard, with a much lower score!

Really a great game. The knockback curse is brutal and I couldn't get my jumps timed well when I had the speed-up since the movement was quite a bit slippery, but that's all on my luck. The art is excellent (the rolling/falling dice is a nice touch) and the music is banging. Awesome job.

Edit: Wow, just looked at who all made this.  Some of my favorite game devs from the 1Bit jam are involved in this, no wonder it's so well made.

Only complaint was the weird performance issues. Really polished and fun.

NOW I get why your standards are so high! this game is amazing, the color pallet is such a genius one, the music is very yummy, the game is just good. I am nitpicking to find feedback but: 1- There were some performance issues when shooting and getting shot by enemies (those crows especially) , I assume it’s because it’s a web build but if so a windows build option would be a nice idea. 2- the leaderboard doesn’t work cuz I just can’t submit a name though I luckliy I was able to get out of the screen by using my mouse (gameboys don;t have mouses tho lol) 3- in the beginning it was a bit unclear what I had to do, when do I move to other rooms and do i have to kill everything etc, a small tutorial of some sort would be good.

Overall amazing entry! added to my collection

Thanks for playing! The first two issues should be fixed in a release after voting ends. Thanks for the kind words and feedback - it’s really appreciated! (especially nitpicks)

I had to stop after eleven levels so that I could come over here and comment about how utterly fantastic this game is. Genuinely love the visuals and the infectious music.

Developer

Thanks for playing! We should have a post-jam release ready at the end of voting, hope you come back and try it!

This game is actually so good. Great job!

As someone that isn't a huge fan of rogue like style games, this was actually a fun take on it.  The debuffs I got made it so I couldn't get further than level 5, slowdown is BRUTAL, that and the less time debuff made me run out of time before I could get out.

Loved the art style.

Developer

Thanks for playing! Slowdown is rough. Personally the increased knockback gets me the most!

Submitted(+1)

Loved the game! the art was refreshing and quirky

However, I did not beat it.  On level 7, if you hit the cannon the pushback can throw you off of the map, and when you respawns you get knocked back off the map. repeat.

I think if this wasn't a jam with time constraints that bug would have been solved though, so good job regardless!  After I am done judging the rest I might come back and beat this

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! We’ve got this on the list to fix, hoping to put out a bugfix release as soon as the voting ends.
