I got stuck in the maintenance room, but I enjoyed becoming the coffee I always wanted to be! It's worth double-checking some of your triggers, as I did have a few that seemed to fire multiple times (e.g. right after escaping from the demon in the portal). The good art and audio really helped make the story for me, too. Thanks for making and sharing your game!

That was really nice, it’s a pity it wasn’t longer. Do you plan to keep working on the game?

Developer

Sadly no, but I do plan to work on more GB games (and other games).

But I just have no interest in working on this more as I don't actually know where to go with it from here (and im working on two bigger projects in my spare time)

Submitted(+2)

That was charming! The mechanics are competently implemented, and the soundtrack is exceptionally spooky. Good work! Congratulations on the submission!

I completed the game ^^

interesting story with interesting character XD

the game play a bit like fetching quest maybe you can add like puzzle or maybe atmosphere like in horror game etc

Developer(+1)

That was the idea, it have more but the devil chasing scene was like the last thing added before I went to bed. If I work on a simliar game it would be way more packed (I plan to run this jam next year)

Crazy that this is your first finished game! Very clean-looking and a very humorous experience! I enjoyed it :)

This is a really cute game! I love the dialog, the music, and the vibes. For a first game on a time limit, you did great!

There were a few bugs I encountered, namely that you could retrigger certain cutscenes (off the top of my head, the dialog when you escape Satan), and the triggers for locked doors are horizontal, so if you walk past a door while being too close, it'll assume you wanted to go into them. Great game though! Keep on making. :>

Developer(+1)

Yeah the door trigger on the first floor annoyed me, as you saw later stuff wasn't broken  like that, but yeah floor 2 had that bug and I would of fixed it but ran out of time. It use to be even worse.

Really well done for your first game! Music was excellent and the story was cute. Great job.

Neat little story about letting Satan loose when all you wanted was to get some coffee

Submitted(+1)

I got fired, I guess that's kinda lucky if you think about it.

Very neat and quirky little game, the slowdown in the maintenance room really sells the GameBoy experience.

Developer

It technically can run on the gb and that slowdown was 100% on me, cause each one of the switches is checking a script and it caused a massive slow down.

I did test it in mGBA so it should work on real hardware.

Great work on your first game!

congrats on your first game!

Really fun! I laughed out loud several times in front of my screen, the jokes all landed well!

I think maybe some rooms didn't need to be so big xD But apart from this, really good :D

Always nice seeing other gbstudio games! Thank you for taking your time to make it :D!!

Developer(+1)

The rooms were big, cause, as I said in a few other comments they were meant for fighting.

But yeah if I remade this I would of made the rooms much smaller and had more visual gags like the coffee machine room. There was a cut portal sections where you would of gone through alternative and fragmented parts of the office (but as you can tell from the way everything looks the same ) I had to cut it cause I ran out of time and had to reuse assets. Almost all the rooms near the end of the game were made from the coffee gag room.

Congrats on finishing your first game. My favorite joke was becoming the coffee pot.

Submitted(+1)

fun first game! congrats!

liked the coffee room a lot

Developer

Im glad that joke hit so well!

Submitted(+1)

fun quirky time, at first i was confused as to why this coworker would walk up to the break room, unlock it, and then ask me to go inside and get their coffee but i understand their hesitance now lol they were just being careful. I like the deadpan way the characters deal with whats going on

Developer(+1)

Yeah it was broken (though it was more to just help people find the room)

Apparently quite a few people got lost so kind of glad I did it.

And I am suprised by how many people thought my jokes were good (kind of a good feeling knowing finds my stuff enjoyable)

Submitted(+1)

I like the idea of the corporate building being a non-Euclidean space (the break room part), and the last few segments being so random is funny to me :D

Developer(+1)

I wanted to do more parts to it, the 2nd floor was suppose to have way more to it but it just had the one thing. There was suppose to be a whole section where you would go through portals to different broken parts of the office but that was left on the cutting room floor.

Submitted(+1)

Congrats on your first game!

I liked it. The initial part got me confused as to why am I in a loop.

Great job though!

Developer(+1)

Just a silly joke. I thought it be funny if the room looped.

Congratulations on releasing your first complete game!

I liked the quirkness and writing of the game quite a bit!

I appreciated the humor of the game and I think this was a good first completed game. The coffee maker bit at the beginning did make me chuckle, I have to say. I got stuck at the three squares part and kept dying though, so some instruction there would be good. Otherwise, keep it up!

Developer(+1)

Yeah, I didn't have much time to fix it, but its right, left, center if you still need that

And  I wanted more jokes like the coffee maker but ran out of time.

Also the coffeemaker bit was a bug where I forgot to change the sprite and I made it a feature.

surreal - love the atmosphere you achieved here!
