Nice re-imagining of Tetris and beautiful art! I really liked the Skremplets' taglines too. Equipment Haven Collective was a great name for the place; nice nod to Earth Hands Council.

Very very fun combat puzzle mechanics, and I dont know if I was just lucky with the rng, but great ramp up of difficulty! I feel like at the start I kinda only had to worry about how to build my pieces but by the time I was facing DSD I had to be way more aware of his board and what pieces to steal.

Great puzzle battler, it was easy to understand and fun to play. Good tension from the CPU AI, especially the extra final battle; finding ways to squeeze pieces into any playable space left gave me Dungeon Dice Monsters kinda vibes, very nostalgic! Played as Grymmt and Pastoriche ~

Good to see the AI worked well against you; that was the part I struggled with most (putting in an okay version that could actually do something, then never really improving it since AI code is hard). Sometimes the computer puts up a real fight (in testing I got a perfect scenario in the Boyhowdy battle where he sent me a bunch of garbage, then I was able to use the sweater against him), but sometimes it dies before it really does anything (notably some of the final battles Kyle did).

Not usually that into puzzle battle games, but I enjoyed this one. A simple, satisfying mechanic, and it nailed the feeling of royally screwing over your opponent, which is crucial. Great art for the puzzle screens, too. Really nice job!

A fun take on a puzzle battle game. I really like just how different each characters powers work. I'm sure the game would be fun to play 2 player mode. I think we need Trash Battle 99 now that I think about it!

You already watched me play, but I'm still going to send some love to your comment board! It was immensely satisfying making big ol blocks that trash the opponent. You do anything tetris related and I am dialed. in.

Interesting take on tetris. I can see this as a minigame mechanic in a hidden object game. Good job!

Really fun puzzler, could see the idea expanded with all the skremplets having interesting mechanics.

Yeah, I had concepted ideas for all eight of the main Skremplets, and two of them (Gretchen and Ms Cherry) are close to being done gameplay-wise (but without Edwin's fancy play area graphic), but I prioritized freeplay mode in the final hours rather than the extra characters.

Nice work, love the creepy looking character portraits above each players board

Thanks--thank Edwin for the unique art, he really gave this a personality (since as you may have figured out from my previous entries, art is not my thing :) )

Such a cool game! I loved the paint-like texture of your visuals, and their designs! The candid way that you introduced the premise and the jam conditions were really effective too, the way they acknowledged  the Skremplets are back, and how the 'Aw shucks' line came up were both really smooth sequences. And easter egg with the yellow jacket was a shock! Even though I had a bit of difficultly early on understanding all the rules of the game, I basically brute force through the first playthrough, once things clicked for me and I understood what each character did, the game portion felt good to improve at! I played with all the characters and I think my favorite ended up being Orchk. I mained Pastoriche originally but it felt like compared to the others, even though his ability was cool, it had a longer startup, whereas I was really cooking the other characters on Orchk!

Really, really fun game! Beat it twice (with Pastoriche and Grymmt)! I'm not the best at puzzle games, but after a few losses, everything clicked, and I went on a rampage or two. Really enjoyable

(+2)

I went with Pastoriche because of the character design and the ability sounded really cool! I liked that you get different kinds of pieces in round 2 & 3. The ending said try to do it without the Sweater and I took that as a personal challenge to go again :p The final boss dropped garbage all at once and it took a retry to beat them.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Great to hear someone's already tried it! Honestly a bit too quick--try the newest build (Near-Final 2) and try beating the final boss without the sweater again ;)

As for pieces, that's one of the parts I need to solidify--there's actually a fifth color of piece I'm not using, because I'm not sure how to balance it. I want to set up a "bag" to balance the piece distribution, but that will be a tomorrow thing probably.

Went through it again, that was a cool addition! Orchk has been my favorite fight since each special trash piece takes two to clear. Looking forward to seeing your tweaks with the distribution since some of the best moments were being forced to switch off a color and still make  room for clears.

Developer

Interesting--so you liked occasionally having a "dry spell" for a color? Part of the problem was the the pieces for the fifth color were both huge, and thus the AI (which currently doesn't try to pick a piece that shares a color with what's on its board, it either picks randomly or picks the biggest piece) was dying extremely quickly. Maybe that just means to make the pieces smaller?
