How does the game fit the theme?
In this game, you enter the rat race in hope of rising to the top of society, where countless other rats have died trying. RIsk it for the biscuit means risk death for the betterment of life. Maybe this time, it will be different
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
We used a character controller and main menu we had made prior to the jam, but they were heavily modified. Also we used some textures, 3D model and SFX taken from online. See credits for details.
How many people worked on the game?4

Great story, Great visuals, Great creativity!
But dude, stop, your voice is very asmr XD (Ear nourishment)
// The tutorials are a bit too long tho. Overall, this is a very good game! > v<
The tutorial was made a bit long so it introduces mechanics slowly, after all not everyone is a game master nor got the intuition of years of platforming.
I got one of my friend complained that there's not a tutorial to jump so he did not know how to (I gotta admit he does not play PC game too often) XD, I made these so maybe he could play it
I played this for far too long! I had a ton of fun and beat the game( in like 20 mins). My few gripes with this is firstly the dash, while I found a way to use it in the last jump and during it tutorial, mostly I would just avoid using it in fear of overshooting. The second is the depth perception, tho I have no clue how you would go about it, I would sometimes think the character landed on the platform only for them to fall because it was a little behind the platform. That on top of slippery surface caused alot of deaths XD. Other then those 2 things I enjoyed the overall experience, the mood was great, the voice acting was fantastic and the game is challenging to beat. Great job!
I guess we need a shadow :) Maybe that gives you a better idea of where the character actually is?
I do like the way you introduce mechanics one by one. And gameplay wise it's a pretty neat 3d platformer (which I suck at). My only complain would be the lighting. I know it's supposed to be a part of the atmosphere, but it' too dark for me to see a lot of the platforms.
Don't worry. I too am a proud member of the "I suck at platformers" gang.
Yeah, the web build has its issues. Try the windows build and let us know whether you liked it or not!
Cool idea , game, visuals, but the walking felt a bit slippery though
Thank you!
Absolutely amazing game, I liked the pacing and introduction of mechanics slowly over time, I just wish that dashing wouldn’t make you slide, and maybe add a bit of height to it (like a 3rd jump) but other than that, the game felt really well polished :D And btw how did you guys make it so that you always see the back of the characther?
Thank you for trying our game out:
For character and camera facing, we used Godot Springarm3D to handle the camera, which works out well most of the time.
We do agree that the dash could use a bit tweaking itself
Awesome game! Sometimes you can see behind walls (especially when you fall to death)
Thanks for trying out the game. The camera can trip out sometimes against walls but it didn't happen too frequently in testing so it's kinda as is. Some kinda constraint that does not allow camera to glitch through would be the fix
This game was really fun and i enjoyed playing. The art style is really cool and fits the them and the game itself perfectly. Rated 10/10
Please try my game as well and comment and rate your experience D:
Racookie Heist
Thank you for trying out game out :D
No problem , thankyou for doing the same ;D
Congratulations on getting the first submission in the jam! (mine was 2nd)
It's a nice platformer, some of the jumps are quite challenging but the generous checkpoints make that ok. Some parts are a bit too dark to see properly, like at the end I fell because I couldn't see the stairs. The voiceover is cool, but hard to hear what it's saying sometimes. Was that a professional actor?
Thank you for playing til the end.
The lighting was wrecked by the web build for godot, since this is our first outing with Godot we were not aware of it until Saturday :( so we didn't really have a chance to address the lighting. The download version is the more definitive version of the game
oh dear, i can tell how much effort you guys put into this game to make that style and the lightning system, really impressive work and creative idea and the voice acting was on point, 2 things i might criticize is the timer because after i won i did not know what the timer was for and the other thing is the dash mechanic i didn't use it that much but just in the tutorial, there is nothing i can say to describe how lovely the game was, Great submission 10/10 game.
Thank you for trying our game out, we really appreciate it.
The timer was supposed to be used to measure the player performance so depends on how fast you are you get different endings :D. But time restriction so the timer is still there, act as a way for player to measure their time, but serve little purpose. And the only ending implemented was the default bad ending.
The dash was another thing we didn't really have time to address as well.
Pretty cool game! First off, really love the pixel art, the main menu and all the signs with the controls are so well designed! Movement is pretty good, also very cool choice to make the character pixel art too! Voice acting is good, but the volume being too low and lack of subtitles makes it a bit unclear. The environment is fun platforming wise, I'd like it to be lit up more however, I think the lighting has the right mood but I'd much prefer being able to see the level better, especially on the rotating platforms. Music was also pretty good too! Pretty fun game though, always enjoy a bit of platforming and that was fun and has a great vibe with the pixel art and voice acting! Great work!
Thank you for trying our game out :D. The level is being so lowly lit is a perk of the web build for godot we didn't have time to address. The download version is the more definitive of both. Subtitle did cross our minds for a bit but voice acting was done quite late and we didn't have time
Sick, I really like the 2D visual for a 3D character controller. The running audio for the mouse scratched my brain in just the right way. Smart rollout of mechanics, allowing the player to master each. You managed to do a lot with the vibe using just lighting. The narration tied it all together, a really strong and unique presence. Would love to see more mechanics introduced in additional segments if you decide to add to the jam submission in the future. Some additional user feedback on where I was in relation to the ground while in the air would help make the platforming a little more skill-based. I got 109 seconds on my final run!
Thank you for trying it out. That's actually fast for the final level considering how tricky it is for us also. Also if you wanna try how fast you can go. In the game main menu you can press Ctrl + number to go to a specific level (Ctrl + 4) so you can see how fast it can go :P.
Ooooh! Love cheat codes! ;)
We put it in to help with playtesting for our friends :P
Nice game. Controls are a bit janky but exploitable. Fits the platforming of this game well.
As I was playing the game while the narrator just keeps rambling about being an UBERMAUS or something I was like, "damn I just want to eat them biscuits" lol
Overall, fun gameplay. Thought there would be more levels. Amazing work. Especially the 2D art in the 3D world.
Thank you!
Fun platformer with a cool art style and theme. The 2D character in a 3D environment was really interesting and I liked it a lot but it did make it a little hard to judge exactly where I was standing at times, adding a drop shadow underneath would really help with this!
Thank you! Appreciate the feedback!
This is quite a nice little 3d platformer. I do like how you put in 2d assets into a 3d game, it gives that nice 2.5d charm to the game. The mouse is also nicely drawn. The VA is also quite a nice addition to the game, though it's a bit hard to hear and understand at times. The level design is decent, with nice little checkpoints dotted around the level, which helps ease the frustration a bit.
As for some criticisms, I think the main issue is that the mouse has no shadow, making judging distance and jump height almost impossible at times. Pairing with the fact that the lighting, although very cool with the black and red, is very dark, and even completely hides the mouse in certain areas. I resorted to blindly guessing where the mouse is, and that doesn't feel good to play.
Anyway, still good job making this platformer. I quite enjoy it for the most part. Good job!
Thank you for trying out our game. The darkness is a by-product of the web build we sadly have not enough time to adjust since time was running out :(. The download version is way better lighted as well since that is the intended outlook of the game.
The atmosphere was on point, the VA helped alot . Overall fun game, well done!
Thanks! VA was definitely a last-minute decision tbh but I guess it really helped!
I fell so many times from trying to "speedrun" and skip a platform. Very fun!
Thanks! Remember, haste makes waste.
A fun platformer. The voice over was a nice touch.
Also nice with secret cookies. :)
Thanks!
I DEVOURED THAT BISCUIT. Great game, great voice acting, and amazing atmosphere! I really liked the mouse sounds too, they were cute in this dark setting haha. I didn’t have any trouble seeing the platforms ahead, except for that last ladder, but I’m not sure if it was meant to be hard to see. And thank you so much for including so many checkpoints, I’m terrible at platformers and always die a lot. Great game, loved it!
Thank you!
Bravo to the VA! :D
Fun 3D platformer, the atmosphere & themes are immaculate. Short but sweet, and challenging. I think, without the mouse casting shadow on the ground, it messed up my brain's perspective a little bit, but not something that I can't get used to. Great work!
Thanks!
The reason there aren't shadows is they were too difficult for my PC to handle, so here we are :(
Also when u upload a web build u gotta keep it as light as possible
Could do a fake shadow tho
Very appealing visual and theme ! But I don’t quite understand how to switch perspective
Hmm there is no perspective switching in this game, we only made it as a third person platforming with 2D sprite in a 3D environment, if that's what you mean?
