Surprisingly addictive for something that literally takes just one input and then plays itself. Well done! :D

This is really cool and such a unique game for LowRezJam - works really well!  It's fun to just sit and watch the simulation.  I imagine the code behind the faction spreading/fighting for territory is quite complex!

Really well made :)

LOVE it!!! Took me a second to really understand what would best improve my odds as a starting location, but that's what made it fun! Really enjoyed yelling at my screen genuinely

I really like this game, such a cool idea! It stays really engaging the whole time, learning the strategy for each map. I had a lot of fun beating all the levels!

This game was a lot of fun. I enjoyed figuring out what would be the optimal place to start and then just letting it run to see what happened.

Nice concept, I like it. Found it very enjoyable. Only thing I would add is some music or sounds, but otherwise very cool!

Really cool game, the more I played it, the better I was able to see the strategy in it. It was surprisingly satisfying to set your champion and watch everything unfold. Nice job!

The most fun un-idle game I’ve ever played!

This game is so mesmerizing. I can see myself coming back to this one.

I liked the concept and execution. I would often randomize the levels to get a better vantage point as that was the only other option we had. Some levels felt easier than others as it progressed. I took the most time on harmony and had control of the all the bases but was still unable to conquer another enemy in a small part of the map. I had also assumed each white point was a territory/capture point up until the last level but was still over taken by another enemy that had nothing captured so I wasnt too sure what is factored in to the growth of each faction. Still a great take on the zero player genre that had you strategizing future movement and tactics.

The white points are bases that give you resources. Resources are however capped. So that income allows you to do more for a tick, and maybe a few ticks after. If you're fighting on multiple fronts that can certainly allow another empire to get back in the game (if they're not also fighting on multiple fronts) as your resource spending will be split. It shouldn't be possible to have all the bases and then lose to an empire with none though, as eventually the front will be wide enough that your greater income pushes back.

These were two different scenarios. In harmony, I had captured all the bases except for an outer border and the two colours were fighting back and forth for about a minute or two with no resolution. The other instance was the last level,  I had captured the four bases in the middle and the enemy on the bottom with no base was still able to overtake much quicker which I thought was quite unusual behaviour given what I had experienced in the previous levels.

This game is fun for the whole family, my wife loved it as much as I did. The real world maps have a cool historical simulation feel that is rare, and the level progression teaches you things well. You may learn that you want big tracts of green grass to beat the France level, and then you may have to learn that maybe choke points can be even more valuable in the Castle level. Each player may learn different valid techniques entirely. Very thought provoking and enjoyable experience.

At first I thought this game would be way too simple, but it's INSANELY addictive! Trying to figure out the best starting position and then watching your kingdom grow is so satisfying! 10/10 (btw Himeji is CRAZY)

Interesting concept

Would be nice to see what the automata rules actually are

I love the concept of using the idle/automata-style gameplay for a battle mechanic. It's very satisfying watching the map slowly fill up with pixels. It was surprisingly addictive trying to narrow in on what makes for a good starting position; being able to retry instantly instead of waiting for rounds to end was a  great choice for this. Well done!

I wish we had some kind of toolset to influence the game after the firs initial start, otherwise, the concept is fun, reminds me of Creeper World and One king is enough! I assume the square structure were some kind of resource producer, will never know. The game is heavily rng reliant, I kinda wish we had set position for the opponents and you had to figure out how to use the stage, instead of relying on rng alone. Could be a cool game though after some follow up!

I initially thought having something like cards you could play at fixed intervals would be cool, that influence how your empire behaves (like: +1 growth in deserts, -1 battle cost, etc). But ended up just sticking to what I got working well half way into the jam. And more interesting things felt like they'd require a lot of balancing to work.

The square structures are walled bases, the white pixel is the actual base. They produce resources which allow your empire to do more per tick.

Thanks for playing and the feedback!

This is super fun and addicting! This is a fantastic idea for an idle game, and I love that you added some nuance with the water growth and base defense.

it's so hard yet addictive

I think the idea is really cool and visually it's superb, watching the map fill up with all these teeming pixels but I have trouble understanding why I win and why I lose... I understand that you have to be near the water and take bases but I'm not sure I understand where I have to start

It took me several attempts to finish the pilot, but I really liked how you handled it. “This is what it feels like to be at headquarters while the cannon fodder wins medals for you,” hahaha.

Mesmerizing. Like watching a game of life battle sim.  made it through all the maps, but if felt like a lot of luck on how fast you grew at the start.  Was the amount of space around your starting point also a factor? Great game, Thanks.
