Cool story. The second part of the game is way more fun.

Random idea: start with the second part. Don’t explain the situation. Then do the record scratch: How did I get here? Then start the story. Then return to the second part again but even crazier. I dunno – just throwing ideas.

Anyway, I’m glad I finished the story. Good game.

I didn’t see any monsters. Am I doing something wrong?

Sprites and music are great. Cool game.

The mechanics are slick. I like that the fletchings stick out of the slimes. Nice touch.

I love the look of the trees against the sky. There’s a lot of interesting things going on in here.

I think you’re close to having something here – it just needs more variables. Like maybe something where you place bets on which card will be the gold card and some property of the set of cards after it, like even number, prime number – all kinds of stuff.

The art and music are great. Everything looks polished and runs smooth.

The game is a little tricky with the controls. Traditionally, W moves the player forward, with A and D to turn the character – so it was sorta tough breaking that habit. Also, it feels like you can be a bit cheeky by not collecting many chickens in the first round to make the second round easier. But the game really unfolds when you go for the challenge.

BTW, the packaging of the game is amazing – from music to art to the theme and colors – really feels like a solid product. Cool game.

Ha! I kinda threw in the music last minute. Wanted something hectic to push you forward, but you’re right: it can get a little stale, fast. That’s why I added in the Pico-8 menu the ability to toggle the music or sfx. Shoot – I shoulda mention that on the page. I’ll add that later tonight.

I’ll be honest: I had more fun farming than worrying about the ghosts. Would be cool to add more stuff to fight the ghosts. Maybe automatically? Like sentries or something? Also would be cool to able to purchase a clock to know when the sun is rising or setting.

Anyways, I played this game WAY longer than I intended. Farming is addictive.

I loved this game. It’s tricky getting used to shooting port / starboard, but it’s so much fun when it starts to click. Loved the music, level design, obstacles, enemies, and the boss. Just needs a little more polish, but the idea is so awesome. Great game!
