You nailed the old school aesthetic. I absolutely adore the premise; a castle falling backwards in time, *chef's kiss*. This is going in my next campaign.

Great idea with the stronghold going back in time. Also like how you integrated time mechanics into and made tigh into interesting challenges.

Well done and cool mechanics with the time pressure and "future damage". Minor nitpick: I wish there were more stuff in the different rooms though (loot, clues, traps).

Developer

I agree that I should try to flesh out some of the rooms. Ideally, every room would have something that would make players want to explore it (and tick down the clock as they do).

I love this one, it’s so fun. Great idea and interpretation of the title, just all-around awesome!

Also, what font did you use for the interior text?

Developer

The interior text font is IM Fell English, which I discovered -- just as deadline was approaching -- doesn't have a bold face character set. Oops!

The updated version after the judging period ends will have some text italicized to indicate hyperlinks as a result.

This is a great time-based adventure. I love that you leaned into Shadowdark’s torch timer to create a real-world countdown. Also, the chronovores that attack the PCs future XP is kinda genius.

Developer

I'm pretty sure that I heard of someone using XP debt as an alternative to level drain and my brain just spit that out when I needed time-related mechanics. So the real credit probably goes to someone in the OSR blogosphere.

Great premise for a dungeon - I love a good implementation of time travel!

Love myself a nice timeline. I like how you used time as a theme in a manageable way.

Love the gimmick. Nice.

Great module that is short, sweet, & to the point! Enjoyed the time pressure of the disappearing stronghold, as well as the plethora of time-themed items & monsters. The layout was simple & legible. I think my favorite part was the mirrored party at the end. Good work!

that cover and intro is so strong, love the temporal doppelgangers at the end too, great work!

Very cool read. I love the monsters, magic items, and that some problems have no written solution; best for the players to figure it out. Time shenanigans are fun as well (even if they can be a little tricky to run) but I think Shadowdark would be a good system for this because you could just use the Torch Timer mechanic to make it work.

Some nice evocative ideas here (the water making you thirstier is great) and the cover is lots of fun. Great job!

Oh my god the first three paragraphs! Absolutely yes and very Appendix N! Also, seems really well-balanced at first read - the basic set up is simple but the complications lend it a genuine richness and strangeness. NICE.

Cool premise and some interesting mechanics to back it up. Very clear writing and I like the new creatures. Good work.

Good for you  tackling what I would call a "multi-state" dungeon situation.  I like the editorial decision to place "Author of..." on the cover (that's so accurate to paperbacks).  I'm fond of "Lacuna" as a vocabulary word and it makes a good weapon name.  Lots of Appendix N accurate substance here.

So far the best module I’ve read. Just really really solid!

Theme: On point. Nittiyam is a great name. The time travelling concept is really well done. Love the chronovores and raptors.

Writing: Includes exactly what I need to know and nothing else. Content wise I initially felt that it was a little spare — most rooms being empty — but when I got to the final room I realised where the meat of this module is. Also, the magic items are very throughtfully written.

Layout: Exceptional. Your typography is so good. Extremely readable. I’m sure you had to do lots of editing to keep the word count low enough for a larger point size, and I assure you it was worth it.

Art: Good art, used with intention.

Playability: Like I said earlier, I initially struggled to conceptualise running this as I was reading through, but this is because I imagined running it as a standalone module/one shot. Clearly this module would work excellently as a random encounter in a hexcrawl or similar sandbox. It made me really want to throw a party into that final room and see what they did.

Developer

Thank you, I really appreciate the review.

This is only my third completed/published adventure, and I learned a lot on this (and will go back and redo Forest of Doors with these lessons in hand).

You got a great title for sure, but you rose to the challenge! Evocative set up.

Developer

Yeah, the title was a real gift. I know others had to struggle to come up with something for theirs and I was off and running on mine more or less immediately.

Very neat idea! The stronghold changing every hour is also very in line with the 'torch' mechanic of Shadowdark so i think would work really well with that system.

I love the time mechanics! I love the "end of time" story! What a weird fiction adventure!

Very cool stuff; the story and time mechanics are the perfect fit for all of the pulpy images conjured when seeing the title. Super playable, and you've done a great job of setting up a bunch of fun scenarios that would play really well at the table.

Great idea that's executed pretty perfectly. It feels like a Doctor Who episode in the best way! I also love the Fossil that can consume your future, I love when the thing happening is reflected so cleanly by a mechanic. Great job!
