Ah yes. Games with drawing.
At first, I thought it was criticizing the size or shape of my richard.
Later I figured out, I needed to not incubate it for quite as long.
I don’t think I really ‘got’ it, but cool game!
This was fun to play with! I really enjoyed the sound effects in the game. The drone of the lab machine and closing the door was captured so perfectly, and I loved the satisfaction of the little drum riff at completion.
I did find the scoring method a little confusing, but it was fun to play with the petri dish nonetheless. I wish that failing by letting the dish incubate too long had some kind of indicator other than just a score of zero. Maybe an alternative failure sound effect or something silly like the incubator lighting on fire.
Awesome project, thanks for making it!
Thank you =D !
Bhertims did an incredible job of recording the sounds, the opening/closing door was in fact his microwave door and the "incubating" sound was also a microwave sound that he just played a bit with. Really happy that we do get good comments on the sound design :'D !
For the scoring method, it was indeed a hard one to think about, now that the game is out for the game jam, we see that we missed out on explaining it better.
Thank you for playing it =) ! Your game was fire ! The song rocked and had a blast =)!
I filled in the entire petri dish, the game froze for 5 mins and then I got a 0 score :P
This is a really cool game idea! The art and sounds are really high quality and really give the vibes of being in a lab.
I think I got a pretty high score!
Ahahah :'D That was one of our consern, unfortunately, we knew about that and wasn't sure what to do to increase the performance, because each dot is actually a node generated in the game, so in theory, at 3-400 nodes, the game performance starts to drop drastically and we didn't want to limit how many dots was generated because that would've break the idea of the game and with the short time frame to create and release the project, we decided to just leave it as is and hope it wouldn't cause too much problem, but curious people be curious :'D.
So far, you currently have one of the highest score seen =) One of our friend had a score of 944 with a totally different pattern, your's is new !
Thank you for playing our game ! Yours was super nice and disgusting :D Liked it really much !
This game was really interesting! Manage to get to 865 by drawing 22 x and a circle around it. We see the number 11 everywhere but not sure what to do with it or if it is relevant xD
Maybe ;D ! That's an interesting pattern to get such a high score :o !
To be fair, me and Bhertims don't even know what the best pattern is :'D we only know the different criterias to "not lose points" because the way the game calculates the score is that it begins with 100 points and if certains criterias aren't met, the points are reduced and the "incubator phase" is actually a multiplicator so it gives a higher score from there.
It's really nice seeing new patterns that gets such high score :)
Thank you for playing our game =)
This was a fun little game. Drawing the Godot logo got me 122.15. Not sure if it was rating my bacterial growth or my drawing skills!
My actual high score is 482.7. It would be nice if you could "lock" a phase, so you could, for example, try multiple different patterns against the same incubation period. Having both variables changing each time makes it hard to determine what changed the score.
The initial concept was supposed to have 6 petri-dish that you could incubate at the same time and look at different patterns, we decided to scrap the idea since we felt that it would've been too easy getting a high score, but I think that having a "note book" with pictures of dish with different score could've been another idea :o ! Thanks for playing our game !
P.S. went back to play your game, the soundtrack rock.
A notebook with past dishes would be a nice touch!
Yeah, the soundtrack was done by the same teammate who made the awesome cover, and he did a great job. The last phase of the game exists entirely because I really liked one of the tracks and wanted to make a piece of gameplay to match its intensity!
Accidentally found out I could rotate the petri dish with mouse wheel. Nice work!
Indeed :'D ! It was an option, unfortunately I forgot to mention it somewhere. It was the first "idea" we had.
Thanks for playing our game =)
Nice work! It would have been cool to see the growth but I certainly understand jam time constraints. The ambient noises really set the tone well. My main struggle is I’m partially color blind (drawing was also hard to see) so had to just guess what point the bar was green. I made a few cool things, though I have no idea if 326 is good or bad. Definitely better than an earlier 200~.
This is something that we definitely not thought about ! Most of our game mechanics does indeed need color. It's something that we'll absolutely think about next time. Thank you for letting us know =)
326 is really not bad for someone who is partially color blind ! In the incubator, if the last three LED turns on, the dish is considered too much incubated and the score turns automatically to 0.0, so it's really great =)
Thank you for playing our game !
really fun little game!
Thank you =) Glad you liked it !
I like the idea of giving the player total freedom on what to draw. Gives the vibe of an actual experiment. Nice game!
That was what we were going after =) ! Glad you liked it ! Thank you for playing =)
Fun little game! Couldn’t score above 466. I don’t know if that’s good or bad?
try an empty one .>.
It is a great way indeed =D
The theorical max score is 1000
Thanks for playing our game =)
If you give players the ability to draw, you know what they will do... xD Would be cool if the game saved your highest score btw. Amazing concept and nice first entry! Btw how does it calculate the score? You may answer after the jam or dm if you don't wanna spill the secret:)
That was the initial plan ! We wanted to make a highscore board, though the time constrain made us scrap the idea, but it was the next thing on the drawing board if we had another day or two.
By default, the score is at max, then depending on how many streaks are made, how streaks are made and where streaks are made, it'll reduce the score by a certain amount if these criterias aren't met. The Incubating phase is mostly what does the most point.
That's the most I will say for now, but will definitely update the description at the end of the jam.
Sorry if it's not clear, english is not my first language =)
And for the drawing what you want, that was the idea 8) Really glad you liked it, we're proud of it.
nice, draw on that thang!
Indeed =D ! Glad you liked it
Loved the theme! really original
Thank you =) !
The start of something good here. The incubator feels and sounds good to use. It would be cool if the germs made a pattern out of your drawing or something. Well done!
Thanks =) We're really proud of it
Interesting take on the theme! I like how cohesive the UI appears and how it blends with the gameplay. Cool project!
Thank you =) ! Glad you liked it. We're really proud of it.
That's science, baby! This is a neat little game! My high score was 416.32. I like the little ambient sound
Thanks for playing our game =)! It was Bhertims idea ! Most of the sound are made by him. He's a solid sound engineer :D
I made life and threw it in the garbage. I am a god. I am thriving. (Game is neat)
Who knows, maybe the big bang was in fact, just another petri dish in the incubator.
Thanks for playing our game =)!
I got to 850 score by drawing a grid - very intrigued as to what the score is. Cool game!
Fun fact, when we were playtesting the game, the "grid" pattern was our testing pattern for the highest score until Bhertims found a pattern that gave a better score ! Thanks for playing our game and rating it :)
Really cool thinking with the theme!!
Thank you for playing our game :)!
