Waaaay too hard for me, but that is a me issue! The game is great, gameplay is clear, visuals are cool, and the audio really enhances the atmosphere. Overall great polish! I was particularly impressed by the shaders

Developer

Thank you so much for the kind words!!

I didn't get very far in this one, but I can only echo previous statements about the atmosphere - it truly is immaculate. There's some serious potential for a commercial game here!

Developer

thank you so much fro playing!!

Unique atmosphere to this game. Really cool

Very cool game! I tried and tried again, pretty hard but consistent in its difficulty! I guess you could define this a "2D Dark Souls" x)

My suggestion is to allow defending to cancel your attacks. Often, I clicked on attack but regretted it, and there's no way to stop the animation... I don't know if it's clear what I'm saying, it's just that it felt like some deaths were not my fault because "the game didn't pick up the input in time"

Since guarding at the right moment allows to parry, and that you can still be hit when guarding, it would simply remove the game's "artificial" difficulty, and make it less frustrating to play over and over.

Also, great graphics and great audio! Really polished :)

thank you so much for playing and the kind words! definitely had a lot of influence from elden ring and dark souls, hah!

the suggestion is clear, yeah! although with the attack-cancel-with-shield would make shield spamming a very powerful move, so that's why i didn't include it. definitely something to think about when i inevitably make another game with this kind of battle system!! cheers!

I replayed it again and got to the cathedral of escalation! Hooray!

I repeat what I said, adding as an alternative a clear window on what the cooldown after attacking/defending is, in any way you want to show it (a flash, a stamina bar, anything at all). It's a very polished combat system, and not knowing when you can't attack/defend for a bit that sense of "unfairness" that this game doesn't need and that (probably) makes many players alt-f4 out of the game to complain the game didn't pick up the controls in time xD

Still, the fact I came back to it means it was good to play, so congrats on the submission once again. I saved in in a collection so I can find it in the future, and I'll definitely play an updated version as well if you'll ever release it :)

Developer(+1)

ahh feels great that you wanted to go back, hah! usually jam games can be "one-and-done" so.

you're totally right about the clear indicator for when you can't take out sword/shield yet. that's something i should've polished into it for sure! no definite plans to continue the project, yet, BUT, i have 5 pages of lore and the world/levels have been mostly thought out to be 4x bigger game... so it's not a definite NO either!

bit punishing, especially so early.

the vibes are absolutely incredible though, very moody.

Developer

Thank you! Agreed: the game is very punishing!

audio is pretty good... I have a few nitpicks about it like the fact literally Everything has reverb or some sort of width and so some of the impact of the sound is lost but that's mostly too nerdy....
otherwise the gameplay loops is pretty neat, not too much of a fan of instadeath stuff and the difficulty might be a tiiiiny bit too overtuned but I can see how it can be enjoyed! (also FRICK the quicksand lmfao I guess its better than invisible walls but djkhfgsdgsdg I did NOT notice it)

Developer

Thank you so much for playing! Hahaa, the overuse of reverb is definitely intentionaly, lol! If there was more time to polish, I would've toned it down on some of the important impact sounds.

Submitted

no yeah the reverb works well for the mood is that just adjusting the amount on it on certian actions can make those actions pop a lot more, too much mix on reverb will kind of meld a akund into being more in the "background" if that makes sense!

I like the vibe but did not managed to do anything at all, just got stuck dying on the first enemies

Developer

Oh no! It's definitely *very hard* game! Tip: use shield right before the enemy attacks to parry them! Thank you for playing!!

Submitted

the vibe sells really well tho!!

Developer(+1)

Awesome! Thank you!!

Has a great vibe and I really like how difficult the combat is - loving the look and soundscape too

5/5 in every category, this game has incredible aura and is probably the #1 one i want to see expanding, i REALLY like this core formula and it looks amazing

Developer

Ahhhh thank you so much!!!

Such a great atmosphere! Also very fun gameplay and challenging enemies!

Developer

Glad you liked it!! Thank you!

Probably one of the coolest game in this jam, great work! The quicksand mechanic is great, well done!

Developer

Thank you for playing and the lovely words!!

Challenging but rewarding, the atmosphere and audio design is what I liked the most. Those shaders really set the mood.

Developer

Amazing comment, thank you!!

Cool atmosphere, nice graphics also a lot of for was put in the Audio and sound.I love roguelikes, and a challenge is always welcome so I enjoyed it. Also the death sound kinda reminds me of the HL2 Death sound xD

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it!!

Looks and feels very polished to me! The quicksand got me many times, and it has the feel of a real challenge but one that I can quickly bounce back and attempt again.

Getting a win would feel very satisfying indeed!

Developer

Thank you for playing and the kind words! Lil tip: the ground is stable near walls and floor tiles!

Submitted

Really cool and hard game XD

I didn't expect the ground is also a danger too

The only way I can think of to beat the game is by keep shielding and counter when needed

but staying on the same positions for too long can be dangerous too

really cool concept for the game

I also really liked the effects you put on the graphic

Really makes it unique and brings out the mood very well XD

Thank you so much for the kind words! Glad you liked it!!

This game is actually really impressive – the shaders are stunning, and the gameplay feels incredibly responsive. Unfortunately, it might not be the right fit for me, as the difficulty is quite high. I never even came close to defeating the first boss!"

Developer

Thank you so much for the kind words! Yes it's very specific hardness, and I can just barely finish the game myself, hahah! Thanks for playing!!
