How does the game fit the theme?
Nothing can go wrong or the panda will die. Also you are immune from enemies and kill them while the panda is rolling, so nothing can go wrong when a panda is rolling around!

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
The only thing I did not make from scratch is the music.

How many people worked on the game?

Cute game, good work!

I had some trouble with the controls, but once I got the hang of them, movement was very nice.

I really like it but E/J feels a bit random unless you were playing with WASD, which I wasn't. But still a great game! Really enjoyed :)

Awesome game! I like the pixel art style and the background music. The panda is adorable, and I also enjoy the jump rolling! Dash has also been very helpful to me! The design of the platformer levels is well done! Good job!

Solid platformer with some cute theming. Definitely a little tricky at times, but I'm not the greatest at platformers!

This is an interesting game to rate. There are almost two different games packed into one, with a normal clear as one, and all golden bamboo clear as the second. I am quite used to playing platformers so I am defaulting myself on the latter, and I am enjoying the difficulty it provides, but I would imagine the former will be a much different experience. I will be honest that I am not a fan of pandas, so I don't pretend to like the character, but I'd say the graphic is pretty good overall. There are quite a few movement options in the game, so it definitely will provide depth to the movements, but I do feel the panda is quite floaty and is sort of hard to control. I am guessing it has quite high horizontal velocity with far too great of an acceleration, so that might be a good way to start fine-tuning.

Anyway, this is quite a nice game, and you should be proud of yourself for making it!

Boy does this give a donkey kong country vibe <3

I feel that the controls for keyboard were a little difficult - I probably should have plugged a controller in.

Ye, fun little game! I had little trouble with controls, i would maybe prefer little bit lower gravity and maybe some inertia changes so the movement is more predictable, dont know exactly if more/less, that is more up to playtest :) But otherwise nice mechanics for one man team!

Great game!

Early level have good design, we have a tutorial that implement the basis, they are implemented with
progression, we can have sometimes two way to complete the level with a bonus if we take the hard path and
we have the sensation that it was made to speed run.

At the end for the game design, sometime we can be confusing, for example, there's this little platform that we might think it can be reached but we need to roll and jump to the other side, the chaining barrel was not super convincing.

I think the game wants to be dynamic, the music needs to be more energetic, i have the feeling i will relax, maybe you put this music because "nothing can go wrong" with a panda.

Like it's a platformer, buffer jump is missing (or maybe it's wanted), try not to center vertically the camera on the character, put it a little above the character and the camera, for more comfort, can go a bit ahead where the player goes (with smoothness), you can inspire from the virtual camera of unity, they have great features.

It lacks of innovation, the little thing that tells you you're not playing a classic platformer, we have the sensation of "déjà vue".

You focused on the content and use all the mechanics you made, it's super great.

I had a lot of fun of retrying those level and when you want to retry the entire game, it's a good sign in general.

It's well balanced, not too punitive, the levels are short.

Nothing to say for the design / animations, they are neat.

The physics overall is great, we have the control on the character, it's a pleasure to jump / move around.

It reminds me of the end is nigh or super meat boy.

I hope you had fun for doing it! Congratz!

Very fun game! I very like the sound effects and gameplay.  I couldn't get past the spiders on the spikes, but it was a wonderful experience. Great job!

Wow, this game is super fun! The varied controls really challenge your quick thinking and sharp decision-making. It reminds me of Super Meat Boy, but with even more intricate mechanics—love that!

A cute platformer and it would be a good touch to not return back to the beginning but a point which is close to the last save point.

Interesting platformer! It looks cute, but it doesn't forgive mistakes. It would be better to make the collider for the bugs a bit larger from which the upward push occurs

Awesome platformer! Movement was really satisfying although a little hard to control the jump at first, and loved the visuals and sound effects

This is a really nice little game! Movement, dash and roll felt nice and the gameplay was challenging and fun!

Great job :D

nice work! As others have said, the tight controls are the standout here but it was awesome seeing such a well done platformer!

Submitted(+1)

Those have to be the tightest controls that I've used in this game jam! It's rare to see the jump parabola get disabled after you stop holding forward but I like that decision. The art style is pretty chill and simple which I also enjoy. Great job making the game all by yourself and having the time to place hidden bamboo trophies! (found like 2 but whatever) It was really fun.

Played and rated :) Very tight little platformer with some classic and well impemeneted mechanics, i don't think my skills did much good for global panda population though...

Really fun game! It does get challenging pretty quick haha, but it was fun trying multiple times until I got past some of the more difficult parts. Nice job on this!

Really nice game! The visuals, audio, and gameplay feel really good! :D
I really like the control scheme, it felt really intuitive, and I mastered it quickly once I entered the game and finished the little tutorial phase at the beginning!
I'd suggest adding more VFX or maybe a little screenshake whenever I hit the enemy. It'd probably make it more impactful and satisfying! :D
