yup, this was my experience as well, i was fifth most rated in the jam with 201 ratings, and pretty consistantly in the top 10 for popularity, but ranked 206th in the overall.
I know that is a good result really, and hey, this was my first jam and my first attempt at making a game, but it still feels a little.. meh..

played and rated, beautiful game :)
if you haven't yet, it would be amazing if you could check out Can't Lose https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-13/rate/3341364
Played and rated, really enjoyed it, if you haven't already check out Can't Lose https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-13/rate/3341364
Played and rated :) overall i really enjoyed it, but maybe some kind of indicator showing were the tasks are would help, a lot of time spent running around trying to figure out what actually needed fixing (i had shields failing for a long time and still don't know where that one actually was..). Thats just nitpicking though, really nice and well polished game with fun minigames throughout!
Played and rated! I made a delicious and completely ok to eat CD, batteries and pinapple burger served on half a bagel and the bottom of a bun.. perfect!
Amazing work for one week, great visuals, music was awesome, gameplay was hectic and fun, i did see some weird lighting bugs during the chopping phase but that might be because i chopped a battery in half :)
Played and rated :) check out Can't Lose if you get a chance https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-13/rate/3341364?after=120#post-12373019
Played and rated! A very cool take on the bullet hell genre, my only critism would be that it was a too easy, the difficulty never really increased between the levels, maybe the game could have sped up as you progressed, faster bullets, shorter delay between firing etc, otherwise a really good effort :)
yeah level six does seem to be a sticking point, I'm guessing you were trying to jump over the flag which is not the intended solution (it shouldn't actually be possible)! I have a more polished post-jam version ready to go with improved controls, better visuals, and some difficulty tweaks (including level 6). Thanks for playing, and your game was awesome by the way!
Played and rated, really loved it! Check out Can't Lose if you get a chance :) https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-13/rate/3341364
A few hours to go, last big push! i want to help get as many people over the 20 threshold as i can, post a link below if you're in need!
Also, if you get a chance, i'm only a few ratings away from 200, it would be amazing if i could hit that milestone, if you get a chance check out Can't Lose https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-13/rate/3341364
Played and rated! That was great, the intro cutscene genuinely had me laughing out loud, especially "got diving gear on in next scene".. The gameplay was good but maybe a little too hard, i had to cheese my way past the first boss and eventually game up on the mines section (i got pretty far through it), don't know how much more game there was. Music was great, the visual style was great in that intentionally bad sort of way, and the game felt really polished. Definetly deserves a lot more attention, hope you make it over 20 ratings!
Played and rated, a nicely polished game with great visuals and sound, really liked the little bit of music on a fail. The camara really could have done with some smoothing, and the hit boxes on some of the terrain elements felt a little unfair, especially in a game were touching anything is an instant fail, but otherwise good effort :)
To be fair, it was only after writing my comment that I had a look at what other people had commented and saw that others had already talked about the issues with the start menu.. i hope you're not disheartened by me repeating the same small issues with what is otherwise a really good effort and a fun game 😁
played and rated :) reaslly enjoyed it, took me back to my old days as a mafia clean up guy...
nicely polished and fun game, really nice visuals and the audio/voice acting was very cool, my only complaint is the window guy was a little annoying, a lot of trial and error in figuring out what to do about him
Played and rated :) really loved the low poly visuals, especially the faces in the intro scene, but the gameplay was very basic, fixing the ship was just watching a progress bar fill up very slowely, i made it to the next task and saw it was another progress bar and have to admit thats as far as i got. Really good atmosphere though, and still a solid effort in a one week jam
played and rated.. firstly it really REALLY could have done with better instructions, it took me a long time to even figure out how to start the game! I clicked on start, got the message about not using the mouse, typed start but nothing happened, eventually spotted the very small text in the bottom right which showed it was reading my inputs and then eventually realised that Start was case sensitive.. None of that is really a critism of the game though.
After i actually got the game to run though it was a fun little typing game, really nice pixel art style, they typing sound was very inconsistent, seemed to only work on the first letter of a word which made it hard to tell if my inputs were working but thats a small detail.
played and rated :) Wow, that was beautiful, the message and music and theme were on point, the card game was simple (with a slight hint of Balatro DNA in there) but it worked well with what the game was trying (and succeeding) to be.
my only realy critism would be that there wasn't a huge amount of card variery, and that +10 x3.5 x3.5 x3.5 was too powerful, the game just became about throwing cards away until i could get that hand together. But those are litle things, and i think the game was more about its message than the gamplay, loved it
Played and rated :) a lot of good work has clearly gone into this one, maybe needed a bit longer in the oven but hey, for a single week of development there is a lot there! Controls were a little unintuative, the guy kind of handled like a car, and some clearly placeholder textures and animations but hey, i'm just nitpicking really, great effort!
This is a rating :) really enjoyed that one, a somple concept very very well executed! my only complaint would be that sometimes it was fiddly trying to pick things up, maybe a bug or just a weird hitbox? and maybe it would be nice to have a way to remove something you added by mistake (i know you can move it to a different burger but that doesn't always help)
Played and rated! Enjoyed the game, but nothing happened when i reached the wormhole at the other side of the asteriod field? Controls could have been a little better, the ship just kind of stopped dead when not accelarating which isn't how space works, some conversation of momentum would have been cool. And as a very minor nitpick, the stars where going backwards in the intro (as though the rocket was traveing towards the bottom of the screen)
those are just minor things though, still a very cool game with some great pixel art :)
Thanks for playing and for the feedback :) Definitely agree about the controls, this was my first ever jam, first 'proper' attempt at game deving, and my first attempt at making a platformer, i kind of rushed the controls and didn't really realise how much went into making a platformer feel 'good'. I've carried on learning and am working on a post jam edition with much much better controls (plus some slight visual improvements and a few new levels).
Also, it took me ages to realise what you meant by a far cry reference lol, that phrase is much much older than that game lol
