Really cute art. Interesting take on the theme.
Felt like the enemies could really start snowballing if you let them get away from you.
Lot of fun though.

Thank you, we're glad you liked it 😀 The difficulty balance was a point of discussion during development until the very end. I think a difficulty slider might have been helpful, although I'm not sure if we would have time for that  😰

I liked this one a lot. One thing I would add is more visual feedback for when the player deals/takes damage. Really fun game though, and I really like the music and visuals.

Nice game! The pixel art was clean and the mechanic of where you went through different stages when you died was a cool way to take the tower defense genre! The animations were so fluid and expressive, great work there!

A few things that could be improved:

- Any tutorial at all would have been good to introduce the player to your game as I was quite confused on what the abilities on each of my forms was when I started

- Layering can be improved, like it looks strange how the knight can walk right over the crystal, makes it feel like the crystal/enemies is flat on the ground

- The enemies sometimes group up into this singularity blob where they instakill you if you get near them. Kinda makes it hard to comeback when enemies are grouped up on your crystal (but somehow I beat the game anyways even though I didn't kill the last wave of enemies)

Overall though great job! Fun game to play with a novel idea

no problem! Oh and also one thing I forgot, it would be nice to be able to hold a direction to go in it as the totem rather than having to press that direction a bunch of times

This game was phenomenal! I loved everything about it! The art, music, SFX, and gameplay! The game started off easy, but halfway through I got too overwhelmed xD. Overall this game is fantastic! The only suggestions I have is probably adding a tutorial, as well as maybe adding death animation. Other than that, this game is incredible!

Thank you for your kind words and for taking the time to leave feedback. Yes, we've been discussing the lack of tutorial and how to best incorporate it under the tight time constraints of a game jam. We think may be have a series of static onboarding screens at the beginning could balance time and some kind of tutorial.

Looks and sounds great, though I would’ve loved to see a form of onboarding with the game, either as a set of images on the main menu or a tutorial level. It didn’t exactly occur to me that I had to read what was below the game (i.e., the website) to understand the gist of the game.

We think balancing that having some kind of slider like you would see in a mobile app onboarding experience could strike a balance between time efficiency and actually having some kind of tutorial. Very polished and very good looking game, I love the art, combining a tower defece with the ability to move freely was a nice ideea! The scary mechanic sometimes doesn't work, but good job!

Thank you for you kind words and for taking the time to leave us feedback. Yes, there are a couple of problems with how the scare mechanic is currently implemented: its range is random between a min and a max value every time it's triggered. The crystal will also block enemy movement even when they're scared. Those can lead to a janky experience with the scare ability. Wondering if keeping the range fixed and adding some visual to indicate the range would help here. Thanks again :)

The morphing is a great twist. Gives a genuine incentive to dying so that you can place totems.

Really cool game :), I liked the visuals a lot and the concept was quite fun. One change I would consider making is changing how the totems are placed, right now  the totems seem to be placed on a system in which you need to spam the move button to get them where you want, this can be a bit annoying sense the character is just hold the button to move in that direction. Making it so the totems are consistent would make the game a bit more intuitive but overall great job.

Thank you :) I programmed the game and very nearly added "hold down key to move totem" and then I rushed off to something else. Definitely would help with placing totem and I'm glad you validated my thinking on that :)
