Nice little game! I included it in my Wowie Jam 2.0 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :)

I see this as a very great time killer, especially if you have a keyboard that's satisfying to type with. Great Job!

Developer(+1)

Yeah, i found too this game it's satisfying to play, expecially with a mechanical keyboard...

Thank you for playing my game!!!

Viruses are very frustrating. I found myself mashing buttons as fast as I could but I still couldn't buy the next upgrade before the next virus stole all of my money.

Developer(+1)

Yeah, viruses are a bit TOO annoying... I'm sorry for that...

Submitted

Very cool idea for you first game and gamejam! Sometimes I couldn't upgrade most things, and I didn't understand why

Developer

Were you sure you had enough points to buy an upgrade???

With the powers, I understand it is difficult to adjust with the cost ... Generally if you have one or more non-colored 1 in the binary number (the small one) you can buy one or more upgrades...

At first I wanted to make the 1 of the binary number coins, and that they could be spent individually, but I didn't do that for lack of time... (Maybe it was for the best, because it's hard to understand)

Submitted

Ah, didn't see that all things increased in cost, and didn't notice the (2^x), it just looked like 2 :D Now it makes sense, and yea individual cost would makes sense, but for this game jam it doesn't really matter, your game idea is understandable.

Developer (7 edits)

I guess you misunderstood my idea ... I understand, it's not an easy idea to understand ...

Increasing the cost of all upgrades is intencionally done, and this is done so as not to make the player buy only the least expensive upgrade mindlessly, but to make him think on which it's the most useful to achieve the overflow.

What I really meant was that you spent the individual digits of the binary number as coins you can spend... so as to make the game even more tactical... I'll provide an example of that idea, in order to make it more clear...

EXAMPLE:

if this is the binary number 00000000000000000010001001011101, and the Bold are the green ones, you can buy  as many upgrades as the 1 not bold, 3 in this case...

As for now, this situation is not really possible, because the game dosen't work like that...

(I hope I managed to make it as clear as possible...)

Simple game, great idea ;)

Developer

Thank you!!! =D

the game seemed to drop most of my inputs but i will asume that was unity's fault

overall this felt a bit frustrating i would get to a few presses away from the next bit and then a cube would spawn and ruin the whole thing for me i would recomend makeing antivirus make the boxes take longer to spawn rather than take less clicks

Developer (2 edits)

The fact that it didn't take most of your inputs isn't unity's fault, it's mine. I INTENTIONALLY added this mechanic. Let me explain how it works, and why it exist:

The game remembers your inputs, and may decide to ignore them if you have pressed a key too recently (or if it is a special key like CAPS_LOCK, F4 or ESC).

I know this can be frustrating sometimes (and believe me when I tell you that I spent a lot of time making it as little frustrating as possible), but it is done to avoid things like autoclicking and button spam. (that it's not the style of play that I want my players to experience)

Please also keep in mind that the rhythm of writing (and, therefore, the time that must pass for a key to be unintencionatly pressed again) is different for each person, but I cannot simply add an option that allows the player to adjust their writing rhythm: It would make this mechanic useless

I general fount that, when try to mash the same keyboard keys, people they are divided into three main categories, each whit two variants (one handed and two handed):

  • Ony key typer: this type of guy press always the same key.
  • Two key typer: this type of guy alternates between two keys.
  • Three key typer: this type of guy alternates between three keys.

If you see that it is not taking the most of your inputs, simply try vary more the keys you press...

Please try to understand...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I know that viruses (the cubes) are TOO annoying... There is already an Antivirus power up, but i know the powerup feels weak  in front of the power of viruses...

It already does that (maybe I should have buffed the effect a little bit more... As now,the effect it's not really noticeable...). The antivirus:

  • Weaks the virus power (They remove less points from you. However, considers also that they become more powerful progressing with the game...)
  • Reduce their life points
  • Increments the spawn time by a little bit (the spawn cooldown it's random, so it's really hard to notice)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I hope this did not ruined your gaming experience too much... Thank you for playing my game...

i hope i did not come off as to mean overall i think the game was decent i was super tired and kinnda grumpy at the time

i think you shouldn't worry about autoclickers or macros if players use them they know its not how you intended and for a game jam game were players will only play for a few minutes i think they probably wont bother setting up a macro

Developer(+1)

Don't worry, you haven't been mean.  I just wanted to clarify how the game works, and when I do, I start talking non-stop, making people seem like I'm mean myself or that I'm offended (or something like that), when in fact I'm not.  I apologize if I it seemed like that.

I understand perfectly, I made many mistakes during this game development (viruses, badly explaining it, etc.).  When I added this feature I thought it was a good idea, because as I said before, I didn't want people to always click the usual buttons to continue, it's simply not the way I wanted the game to be played (The idea that you could use it  an autoclicker came to me only after I delivered the game to the jam, prevent it was never my main focus). This small choice may seem unimportant, but in reality it greatly affects how people play my game, So fixing it right now seemed the right thing to do...

Maybe I should have handled it differently (although there weren't many different ways to manage it), and I can understand that for some people it may seem frustrating, but frankly I don't think that varying the keys that you press every now and then is so difficult...

Please understand...

First game ever?!? Awesome work

Thank you!!! =D

This game is actually really adictive, graphics are NOT bad!! Good job :D Congratulations! Please play my game ;)

Developer (2 edits) (+1)

Thank you!!! I'm glad you enjoy my game!!! In reality all the "graphics" you see are simply the unity's default buttons (and some text)

I have already played your game before... I also left my time in your comunitty post... (btw, cool game, man!!!)

Thanks a lot then! I didn't recognise your name, I'm sorry D:

Developer(+1)

It happens with so many comments to manage... Don't worry!!! =D

Cool clicker type game, i like the idea of the number square things preventing you from gaining numbers. Could you try my game? https://llamadev-games.itch.io/test-slime

Developer (2 edits) (+1)

Thank you for playing my game!!! (I like your profile picture btw, it's really cute :3 )

Your game was already on my list of "games to play". I moved it somewere around the top.

Did you know that below your comment (or any comment, really) there is a little rectangle with your gma's name, and that if you click it it sends you on that game's submission??? Just saying...

Submitted

Thank, Forgot about that

WOWIEEEE! The main "song" is amazing :D The game is kinda fun, but I didn't understand the bouncing single colored squares with a numbers of clicks required. Why I was losing the "points" when the square appeared. IDK. But I played for 10 minutes straight. It was fun. You can make a pretty dope clicker game out of this idea.

Developer

I'm glad you liked the song!!! You are one of the few who liked it!!! (Other people thinks that is annoying...) =D

The colored squares are virus and, like you already figured out, they made you lose points. You have to click him away the numer of times written on the cube. At the moment they'reTOO annoying and TOO fast.

Their power increases with the progression of the game. You can decrese this power a little (and reducing their life points) by purchasing the Antivirus power up. This powerup really comes in handy, expecially as they are now, but be careful not to buy it too many times, or you won't have enough power to overflow... ;)

Thank you for playing and enjoying my game!!! A big WOWIEEEE to you, too!!!
