Man I could really learn a thing or two from your dash code. I implemented a dash in my game, but it doesn't feel near as clean as that! I'm so happy I didn't go the whole jam without playing this game that was incredible. Really polished level design that had me thinking about my next move. Somewhat tough and unforgiving since I love spamming jump haha.
I loved your game, the best among the games I played. The only thing that I didn't like was the dash didn't work well some times. I reached the level 4, but it took me a long time because sometimes the dash fails.

Engaging order-of-execution puzzle platformer, though with some level lengths that can begin to feel a bit punishing when you have to execute everything perfectly.
-Favorite part is progressing through a level and realizing based on the skill icons still collected, you've used the correct ones from and can probably complete the level. Like multiple stages of realization and satisfaction about the puzzle you're engaging with.
-The icons could be made a lot more identifiable to the skill they represent.
And it would feel better if the shift dash was more reliable/predictable, when you lose a level because of a mistimed dash that increases the feel of punishing vs satisfying.
The help text could be faster.
Pros: Super fun, Original design, Solid difficulty curve
Cons: Why doesn't the text type faster D:. Controls/jumps are tight (the dash ability multiple times in a row is difficult)
Suggestions(One for each category that would of taken it to the next star):
More Levels
Being able to dash during dashes (the dash -> dash -> dash sections were fairly difficult from pushing dash too early)
Original music
Polish up some of the visuals (Animations look great some of the still frames are a bit less though (I still don't know what the jump ability circle is supposed to be before you collect it)
Non-required collectables
P.S. Honestly the best game I've played so far I did try to give suggestions above but the game was already good enough that I think it warranted 5 stars for some things.

Really nice art and music, the abilities and animations for those abilities were really nice as well. My only feedback is that that i think the orbs should look more like what the ability does or at least have some kinda reminder, text maybe, cause at least for me it wasn't very clear what i was getting when i picked up an orb. Maybe that's just me.. Overall i think its a really nice game! :)

The animations and music in this game are the best I've see so far. The idea is also very cool. It took me a little while to work out that you could dash diagonally. It is also very cool that you have implemented a save game state.
Main feedback for me was the controls were a little awkward. I am use to playing games with the arrow keys so would have been good if you had alternative controls for those use to the arrow keys.

This game with even more work on visual effects and player movement would be excellent.
Suggestions:
I think you should set checkpoints on the levels, because if a level is too large it becomes frustrating to go back and do everything again.
Also, as I game devoloper using GameMaker just like you, i noticed you have the corner collision bug with solids, in this video they explain how to fix it! It happened to me too !

Cool game! I really loved the presentation and the art. It's nice having some text guiding you through the game as well. I think it's a really neat idea for a puzzle mechanic to limit the amount of jumps and dashes, though I think the dash can be a bit unforgiving in it's recharge time. You have to wait just after the descent starts before you can dash again which leads to me mashing the dash button with my pinky (it's very umconfortable). I love the music and the art. Some tricky puzzles in there too!
In my video I said that I didn't think it used the theme, but I realize now that it did when you return back to the start. Great game, thanks for sharing!
