Sweeeet!  Really enjoyed this one.  From the visuals to the voice over, this one really captured the mood!  Great work and Happy Halloween!!!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

(It's my favorite holiday!)

I'm really glad you enjoyed the vibe!

Uhh this, one looked and felt great. :) It's impressive what can be created in such a short time. :)

Developer

Thanks! It was a huge crunch (and I didn't get to polish nearly as much as I wanted) and I'm so grateful my team stuck it out with me.

This is fantastic! Love the controls and the last line from the computer is terrifying. Great foreshadowing as well.

I didn't notice the start button at first and was looking around the cockpit confused for a bit so may want to make it bigger or just auto-start. I also found myself mashing the move keys repeatedly to get to max throttle at every junction so it might make sense to add an option to hold to increase it and maybe a throttle display as well so I know if I'm at max speed yet but those are really just nits. Great work!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the comment! I was working on the button holds to increase throttle (as well as throttle decay) but it ended up being a tad bit more complicated than I had hoped and I needed to flesh out the other things before the window closed (controllers are HARD). I considered auto starting but I didn't want to jar players too much and I had some mouse capturing issues so I just went with what worked.

Thanks again!

Mech Mech Mech! It was a pretty slow tense experience. I liked how it looked and felt much more than how it played. I spent a lot of time walking and not much time doing. The atmosphere was amizing and majbe I missed something. I was just sad my radio didn't come back on, I was enjoying channel hopping. Lots to like in this game still.

Developer(+1)

The slow tension building was definitely one of the things we were hoping to evoke here, so I'm glad you vibed with it that way.

I was hoping to put more in the cockpit to "do" but I ran out of time in the end, like with the computer terminal entries.

Thanks for the comment!

I loved the sound design! I like the story as well, my only issue was that the machine was walking pretty slow and it was really easy to disorient yourself and go the wrong way. But I enjoyed it a lot! Keep it up! <3

Thanks! The audio team was super great on this project and they're really grateful for the comment!

I had initially planned to put an arrow for the leg facing (like in other mech games) but I didn't have time to stylize it well and took it out in the final build sadly.

Thanks again for the comment!

I feel like this game inspired by (i forgot game's name). Well, that game where you're in a submarine and do stuff in a deep deep sea

Developer

I loved Iron Lung, and the low-fi vibe many games are going for these days is super sick and I'm glad to be a part of it.

Thanks for the comment!

This is really cool! I love the sound design, and I think you did a great job of achieving a feeling of powerlessness despite being inside a TI83000 robot mech haha

Developer(+1)

Thanks! That's exactly the kinda' feeling I was hoping to evoke, glad it came across.

Here's hoping the TI84000 is monster proof!

Submitted(+1)

Very cool mood, the voice is pretty cool ๐Ÿ‘Œ
Also, there is a really strong Iron Lung vibe, here! I love it :D I would love to see more!

The ending comes a bit abruptly, I would have liked to be introduced to the "entity" before (like hearing more strange noises, seeing shadows in the distance, more "blips" on the sonar"). But hey, you can only do so much in a week, right? x)

Thanks for this nice experience! Great work :D

Developer

Iron Lung was a super fun game (I actually 100%ed it on steam) and I'm in love with the low-fi vibe many games are going for these days!

Funnily enough, there is actually one super short reveal right at the start when the first radar beep plays, on the ledge to the left, but I certainly should've placed it better.

Thanks for the comment!

Nice atmosphere, everything pretty good.

Developer

Thanks! The team appreciates the feedback!

very cool concept. Sounds and voices are top notch. Can see this growing into a very captivating type of story-driven game. (even as a full blown mech-driver as a job sim sounds good)

Developer(+1)

I do eventually intend of putting out a more refined and polished game similar to this one, making a mech was super exciting.

Thanks for the kind words!

I couldnโ€™t get it to run from my collection page, but it works going directly to your game page, just in case anyone else hits this issue. They will get this error.

The following features required to run Godot projects on the Web are missing: Cross Origin Isolation - Check web server configuration (send correct headers) SharedArrayBuffer - Check web server configuration (send correct headers)

Anyway a really fun game. I love mechwarrior like games and the audio was really good. Good job SteelFever team!

Developer(+1)

I love Mechwarrior and Battletech as well! That's a definitely a weird error and I'll look into it, thanks for letting me know.

Thanks for the comment!

I had intermittent performance issues. A downable build of the game might have solved some of them.

I'm not exactly sure what I was meant to do. I tried entering various commands, I tried turning things on and off. I ended up playing with the radio for several minutes which was fun in its own right lol.

The voice overs were rather entertaining. I also really like the feel of interacting with the buttons "physically". The radio was a nice touch.

Developer (1 edit)

I was aware of the performance issues in this build but I had a hard time optimizing them in time to publish in the jam window, so I had to bite the bullet and push regardless. The physicality of the buttons was a huge push towards what I eventually want in a larger version of this!

I was considering a downloadable build but the performance issues showed up in both so I figured it was unnecessary, at the end of the jam window I'll upload a downloadable one!

The audio was fantastic.

Developer

Thanks!

We worked hard on it and had a ton of fun with the radio stations.

Submitted(+1)

Always wanted to be a mech pilot. I like the soft oldies music you got going if you click the right things, why the name Ivan Mayfield?

Developer

I'd have to ask my audio guys since they came up with the name!

Thanks for the comment! I also love Mechs and may follow up with a more polished version in the future!

Submitted(+1)

nice! definitely a little slow up until the end and the controls were a little confusing, but good vibes overall! I like the voiceover and the radio was a nice touch :D

Developer

The team worked hard the audio, glad you appreciated it!

The movement was definitely a failure on my part as the programmer, the controller ended up strange and speeding it up caused a few issues, making the length a tad bit longer than expected.

Thanks for the comment!

nice game

Developer

Thanks!

I really enjoyed the game! The concept of slowly losing abilities was unique and suspenseful.

Developer

Thanks!

It was fun to try to make a tense atmosphere.

Submitted(+1)

Great style overall feels cohesive to me! Couldn't figure out any of the terminal commands. Would have hoped to pick up the pace a little bit though!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for giving me your feedback!

The team member on art put a ton of effort in and I'm grateful to have him as a friend.

The terminal was unfinished sadly... The only entry that works is "test", as we didn't have time to put the rest in.

I tampered with the movement speed a bit but the mech controller ended up a bit wonky and I didn't have time to fix it, so the short term solution was slowing it down unfortunately.

Thanks again for the comment!

This is a very ambitious and unique idea! I love the retro-futuristic aesthetic and the immersive sound design. The radio especially is a nice touch, it gave me strong bioshock vibes. The controls took some getting used to, but I eventually got the hang of them and made it to the end. The gameplay itself could have been a little more interactive, I'd love to see some sort of in-mech minigame that you could do while you were moving around. Also, the aiming reticle was a little difficult to see at times. Overall, great work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! I appreciate the feedback tremendously.

It a shame I didn't realize I really should've made the crosshair white instead of black, as it was around an hour from the submission period ending when the team pointed it out to me. Live and learn.

The in mech minigame is a great idea! And sadly, the I wasn't able to finish the computer terminal in time to add a bit more to the interactivity.

Thanks again!

I was locked in at first. I don't know if it bug or if I didn't understand how to play >< Try my game (playable in the browser), it has stairs and a flashlight, but you have to find it. :-)

Hey, thanks for the attempt at playing my game. If your mouse isn't captured at first you can hit tab twice to recapture it so you can play it.

I'll give your game a shot!
