Impressive work by the team, I liked the message the game sends about burn out, the AI which isn’t too punitive but preserves the tension well, thanks in particular to the sound design which is very well chosen, excellent level design too! Congratulations!

Submitted(+2)

Best jam submission I've played, hands down. Amazing job!

Submitted(+2)

That game was a blast! Best submission in the Jam in my honest opinion. SoundDesign, Level Design, Mechanics and Narrative aspects spot on. Im curious on how you made the "red level" part transition when all the stuff "zoom" back, that part really impressed me.

Developer(+2)

Thanks for your kind words, I am really happy to know you liked it so much :D
For the "zooming back" thingy, well, a magician is not supposed to reveal their tricks, but to give you a beginning of explanation it is all a really simple animation x)

Submitted(+1)

Oh I thought it could be animation, thanks for confirming it ahah

Submitted(+3)

Let's start at an end- amazing submission!

Everyone uses synty assets nowadays, but you really gave them a new life with amazing use of the lighting! Level design was also clear- I always knew where to go (again- lighting) and prop usage was used perfectly to create a spooky atmosphere. The baddie (your boss?) was a great way to build up tension, although I think he was a bit too hard to loose once he noticed you. It would be nice to have some way of diverting his attention (like thrown rocks in Far Cry series). That's a nitpick, and it didn't take from my enjoyment of the game, because the game state got saved, even if I got caught. Baddie's animations were on point, although it wasn't clear for me, if his field of view was linked to his head movement.

The audio was great- not too intense, but just enough to add to the atmosphere, and give the player feedback.

As I just handed in my resignation letter, the theme of burning out at work resonated with me.

Over all- again, really amazing submission. I'd like to see a bigger project from this team :)

Developer

Thank you so much for this feedback!

We indeed thought of letting the player throw items to distract the baddie but set it to the stretch goals and as it turned out, we didn't have time to implement it ^^
Also, we had many debates about whether the boss was easy enough to lose or not but I guess as the person who programmed the IA I should have agreed to change some things because it didn't seem too hard to me. Sorry for that! I think the fact that he can hear you walking above him in the last level is tough too, we could have isolated the floors.

It makes us proud to get comments like yours, thanks again!

Like the graphics and gameplay. Well done :)

Developer

Hey Umarth,

Thank you :)

Ah the scary reality of having to work haha

What a cool game this is, I really liked the way you portrayed this daily activity in something mega deep. I liked the setting, I liked the visuals, the sound effects, the minigames. The fact that the scare is not exaggerated, but rather the tension of the stealth that shines.

Very well done, congratulations!

Developer

Thank you so much! We indeed chose not to go for jumpscares (except for the intro haha) and make the player expect them through creating tension. We wanted this game to be accessible and a feedback we had sometimes is that it lacks a real screamer and since the progression is not impacted by getting caught, the stakes are quite lower than they would be otherwise.

Anyway, thanks for playing!

I better be getting paid overtime for this...

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

I don't think anyone here is paid for what we're doing :(

Thanks for playing!

This was a really well designed game! I like the atmosphere and the level design a lot! I really like the journey it takes you through! I had a hard time a couple of times, so the checkpoint system was appreciated! Some story elements would be nice, Like some more cutscenes/ notes

Developer

Hey !

We're glad you managed to finish the game. Maybe we will add more story elements if another version comes up in the future.

Thank you for you feedback :)

Submitted(+3)

Holy moly, I have no words to describe how good the level design and the sound design are for this game, amazing storytelling and very good transitions. The puzzles were easy to solve which is fine and the game didn't feel frustrating at all, the only downsize it's that the tension is lost when the enemy catches you the first time since there is only one animation and that vanishes all the build up. Anyways this game is awesome, super good atmosphere and level art, totally recommended!!

Developer

Hey,

Thanks a lot. What you're saying about the tension that is lost is very interesting. We will probably add more animations if we decide to work on the game in the future.

Thanks for the feedback :)

I can recommend everyon to try this game, its so good. And i think there is so much meaning behind it aswell, totally dig that.

Developer

Hi !

Thank you for playing and thank you for your kind words :)

I really liked this one! The gameplay was a little slow for my tastes but the vibes are immaculate, like you really used Godots lighting engine well and it was very moody, and communicated themes very well. Visual design wise it was good too, I could understand exactly what I needed to do to get through sections without any direct instructions, which is always good. The start of the nightmare sequence really fucked with me as well, made me think a little of the nightmare sequence from the first Max Payne game. Good job!

Developer

Thanks a lot ! glad you liked it.
Yes, Max Payne's nightmare was clearly an inspiration !

interesting! Enjoyed playing) Play my game also, its fun halloween chasing)

Developer(+1)

I tryied your game! It's pretty funny haha! Thanks for playing ^^

Thanks!)

The game was great but the fps was quite low for me, around 15-20.

Developer

Thanks for playing, and sorry it was slow. I think the fog and lights might be heavy for some PCs. We should have provided some options for this case.

Developer

Could you please tell us what your config is ? So we may know on what kind of hardware it starts running slow

Submitted(+1)

intel core i5-10210U , 4 GB ram

Developer

Thanks a lot!

You don't have a GPU ?

Submitted

I have , but it doesnt shows in the about section.

This is by far my favourite game for this jam. The atmosphere kept me on the edge the entire time, the lighting aswell as the sounds were really good and the controller felt clean.

I had to restart the game because I got stuck in the elevator first (could be me smacking the door panel too many times). The second playthrough went well, though I got trapped in the third room until I had luck with the enemy spawn. Here you could implement something to hide or dodge as it is right now there are (in my opinion) too many dead ends (which could well be intended).

Anyways, I'm amazed about how much you accomplished within one week. I'm flabbergasted :)

P.S. The last credit job was another great idea.

Developer

Hey,

Thank you very much for your feedback ! It will certainly help if we decide to work on the game in the future.

Happy to know that you had a good time !

Sorry you got stuck though.

Bye !

Developer

My brother got stuck in the elevator by crouching while in it ^^' We didn't experience this during the testing, and I'm not sure of why this happens. Sorry this happened to you!

Thanks for the feedback!

Loved this! very tense and the walking felt very realistic which added to it!!

Developer

HI ! Thank you for playing :)

Glad you enjoyed the game !

Excellent work has been done with sound and environment! Separately, I praise the game design, everything is very competently done.

Also, I separately put a big plus for AI - he can find ways to overtake the player himself, and not just chase after him.
but still there was one problem - after I got out from under the table, my character didn't want to get up on his feet XD

Developer

Ah damn this had never happened yet! I'll try to reproduce it ^^

Thanks for the feedback!

Submitted(+2)

It was the scariest game I've played here. The atmosphere and sound design are very scary, but the scariest thing is that this is a workaholic simulator! I'm thrilled, great job!

Submitted(+2)

Great game, love the use of the mini game to continue the text on the PCs.

Submitted(+2)

Game is very pleasing to look at. Its pretty scary game and i like its uneasy and trippy feeling. Very well polished game.

Developer(+1)

Not too scary I hope :)

Thank you for taking the time to play our game !

Submitted(+1)

Really great work guys. Its a good mix of horror and satire that I enjoyed. Graphics and presentation were also excellent.

Developer

Hi ! Thank you Chris :)
