I really enjoyed this one. This game brings out the beauty of speed running in a simple, yet pretty aesthetic manner with all the little tricks that can save you some time. That allows itself to be enjoyed both by players that want to challenge themselves and those that just want to chill and play the game. I don't really have any criticism towards the game, except maybe a suggestion to experiment with some juicy feedback animations when you successfully achieve some speedup.
Thank you so much for the kind words :) I will definitely work on it post jam and some cool animations would be really cool. Good idea :)
Great game! I had a lot of fun playing, but I dont really see the purpose of the old-style retro 3d graphics.
I enjoyed this! Just getting through all the levels was easy on my first playthrough, and my time gradually decreased from ~70s to now 49.7s. When one is aiming for shorter and shorter times one starts to notice the "pro track" that you have build into the levels for people to follow - sadly I found myself overshooting those quite often and having to limit my first few jumps to get there :( It never felt right to limit my ability artificially because the place you put some jumping pad was where you ended up. Still, great game!
Thank you so much for playing! Yeah the "pro track" is really meant for people knowing all the mechanics. You can actually use multiple techniques to prevent overshooting. Maybe it would have been better if I added an additional "medium track" so that there is something challenging and fun for everyone :)
Great game! Had a lot of fun playing. One thing is that the music should keep playing through the restarts, it was a bit annoying for it to restart every time I died! As well, sometimes I couldn't see my cursor very well, maybe making it a different colour could help
Thanks for playing! The sound cutting out is actually a work around made for the web version of the game. The usual game jam stuff :P And for the crosshair, yeah I should probably have a setting in the options where you could customize it. That's something I'll look into if I make a post jam version :)
OMG this gets fast once you get your jump timing right. Great Job.
Soooo hard but soooo fun! I absolutely adore it!
Great game, but I don't really see how it matches the theme.
Forward is a direction, right? :P
Yeah I guess so good point. I think the game would be better if you had the level turn, and a trigger to make the player constant force change as well
Oh that's a good idea :) I've struggled so hard with this theme. I've done like 3 prototypes that were discarded. I'm actually happy that I managed to get something done :D
The first time I tried to play it, I was not able to complete one level in a reasonable time. But today I gave it another shot and managed to get a gold medal. :D
For this short developement time this game turned out very well and has a good level design. It was fun to play. One of the best entries indeed. :)
One of the best games I tried in this jam if not the best, the Gameplay is simply phenomenal you can't get bored of it although the jumping is a little bit glitchy like in the loop level you were able to jump under the loop itself and the left and right movements where a little bit slow but other than that the game is just something else from other games in this jam the artstyle reminds me of the original quake 2 one of my favorite games of all time the sounds are great the game really doesn't fit the theme that good I think it didn't have anything related to direction (except for moving forward I guess). My best is 90.40 seconds I guess that's an okay record.
Hey. Thanks for the in-depth review! The quake aesthetics were exactly what I was going for :) It also got a lot of the movement style from those kind of games. I understand that other games implemented the theme better than I did. My take on the theme was that you constantly move in one direction (forward) as fast as possible. I think you can tell that I really struggled with this theme :D
Love it! Can't get past Bronze medal, though
I've made a video (see the game's page) showing how to get all the gold medals if you want to check that out :) Thanks for playing!
Nice concept of direction and the idea of increase speed as you bounce! It was truly fun and entertaining to try and speed run through the map as fast as I could! Only thing I would say I feel needs improvement are:
Other than that, everything else is nice!
Cool!
Super fun! Really interesting to have the diagonal walking then jumping add speed :)
Really cool game! I love the concept and I picked up the movement systems (as in picking up speed) really easily! I think with a bit more polish, this could evolve into a great, fully-released game! :D
Got a run of 57! Fun game
Super nice! This would be perfect to speedrun.
Interesting game. It was fun but I'm not too good at this kind of game so I didn't get far. Maybe if it was a bit easier to move side to side it would have helped, I had a hard time shifting over to land on some of the platforms.
Going fast and going forward is key ;) But yeah, that's understandable. Glad that you had fun and thanks for playing :)
Fast paced, retro and just fun :D Well done
