Yea this game rules! The ammo/slowdown mechanic is super neat and getting the fireball weapon feels awesome. Excellent arcade vibes.

Thank you so much. I’m really happy you enjoyed playing it. I got that feeling too, the first time I played after implementing the fireball power up. It’s so nice! I’ve got some ideas for some other fun power ups, so watch out for those in a post-jam update! 😄

such a fun little rectro-style game! i absolutely loved the different mechanics of the enemies and especially the fact that they can revive, it adds so much to the game! well done!

Developer

Hey thank you, it’s great that you enjoyed playing it. As soon as the jam finished I had a ton of ideas for new enemy types, so I’m looking forward to adding those soon.

What a well-designed game! The shoot-to-stun, bump-to-kill mechanic feels reminiscent of single-screen arcade classics, without being derivative. I liked the variety of enemies and the vibrant colors. The pixel art all looks fantastic, both static and in motion.

I did encounter a bug on the first level featuring flying enemies. I stunned an enemy near the top of the screen. When I bumped into it to defeat it, my own character's little hop pushed me above the top of the screen, where I was stuck :(

Developer

Thank you so much for your very kind words. ☺️

I found that bug too, right after the jam had ended! I tried to implement something like in Mario where a well timed jump as you land on an enemy gives you a bigger leap, but sometimes it sends you right off the level! 🤣

Lovely pixelart and a good soundtrack!
I know it was heavily inspired by bouble bouble, but I feel it could have done some more changes to shake up the gameplay.

Developer

Hey, thanks so much for trying it out. I have some ideas to distance it a bit more from Bubble Bobble, but unfortunately i ran out of time in the jam to try them out. Hopefully in a post-jam update though! :-)

I liked the color combinations even though they were very striking. It was fun to jump around and I really liked how the screen wrapped around. The tradeoff of firing and moving was interesting. I was able to dodge back and forth warping to the sides of the screen to beat the boss. It felt pretty chill since death was not a restart.

The retro yet modern arcade feel of this game make it a standout! The gameplay keeps you locked in from the start while the music keeps you whimsically captivated all the while.

Developer(+1)

Ah, thank you so much! What you’ve described is exactly the vibe that I was aiming for, so it’s nice to that it hits all the right notes! :-D

This is awesome! Great arcade feel and killer music.

Developer

Thanks so much for trying it out Jamie! I’m really help that you enjoyed playing it. Now I just need to hook up a CRT and dig out an 80s style joystick! :-D

Amazing game! I really loved the different tiles (/background tiles)

Developer

Thank you so much! I’ve been trying to stick to just two colours for the tiles on each level, and only using the ZX Spectrum palette, so it’s a challenge to come up with unique designs for each level!

The game is fun and intuitive, well done :)

Thanks Skull! I’m really glad you enjoyed playing it!

THIS WAS GREAT! visually amazing. the player controlled well. loved the battery mechanic. fantastic job

Developer

Thank you! I was worried at first that the battery mechanic might be a bit annoying, but I’m happy with how it turned out. ☺️

This was great! I especially loved the boss fight at the end.

Developer

Thank you so much, I’m really happy that you enjoyed playing it! The boss fight was a lot of fun to put together. The logic for it is super simple, but it just kind of works.

Super cool game. I love the visuals, it is really great commitment to that arcade style. The animations are also really nice and have a lot of character to them

Developer

Thank you. I’m really happy that the arcade feel comes through, because that was super important to me when I started making it. ☺️

Very cute and very fun! I really enjoyed it. I did notice when I lost my 3 hearts I could hit space and start over on that level. I think it might make more more sense and really fit the theme that if you lost 3 hearts you start over entirely. It would also make the high score more satisfying. I really like the battery implementation too. Great job!

Thank you so much!

Yeah I’m really annoyed that I missed the issue for it not returning to the start screen on game over. I realised the morning after the deadline, but it was too late at that point! 😩 It’ll be the first thing I did in the post jam update!
