Which path did you choose?

Fresh Build

How does your game bring our theme, OUT OF TIME, to life?
Knight.exe embodies OUT OF TIME by throwing a knight into a futuristic world where he doesn’t belong and turning time into an active threat, as a deletion countdown hunts him relentlessly. The player must outrun both the system and the ticking clock before time erases him completely.

What did you do to ensure accessibility of the game?
I kept the game accessible by using simple controls, clear visual feedback, and readable UI elements that clearly communicate danger and objectives. I also uploaded a web version of the game.

Did you include the Indieformer or Patch Notes logo somewhere in your game?

Yes

I had a great time trying this game! The length was great, I loved how smooth the animations were! I would love to hear what you think of my game :D!

This is really cool! I enjoy a good platformer, and this certainly delivers. The difficulty of the game is a bit high, but at least for me, it's still very manageable. Platforming is really smooth and nice to control, and generally, the game is really polished and well-made. It certainly is one of the best games in the jam! Well done!

Other things I like:

  • Intro and outro cutscenes, it's rare to see one in jam games, let alone a good one
  • Good and complete game progression
  • Good graphics
  • Nice split path at the end of the game, though the difference it makes is too big in my opinion
  • Easter egg in the game makes me giggle

Suggestions:

  • The chasing sequence is a bit tight, especially how close the robot follows you. Consider slowing down the robot a bit
  • Consider adding a track line for the moving platforms, allowing the player to make quick decisions in such a tight game
  • Adding some in-game tutorial/instructions would be ideal

Anyway, this is a really good game regardless! Well done!

i like how you get infinite tries and  i like way you integrated the time aspect , even though i feel like the tracker time is a bit fast which makes the game a bit hard , but i really enjoy and like the concept.

This is quite a fun game and a good premise! It reminds me of 10 second ninja. For some reason I couldn't pass the level where you first get the time collectibles. Perhaps it's also due to my refresh rate? In the first levels I only had 2% of time left over.

The background image is also a great choice!

Great work building this game!

Great job on submitting! I enjoyed the premise of this one and enjoyed the variety and challenge of the platforming. Really enjoyed the little defects like jump disabling and control disabling once I figured out it was tied to the time and was able to compensate in a timely manner. Tho the control swap felt really tight on time.

I was able to get through the first 3 levels until I noticed the timer is tied to refresh rate. Moving the window to my 60 HZ monitor fixed this for me.  From there I really enjoyed it till I got to the final run. I had a really hard time getting the timing of the moving platform jump + the timing of when the bot was going to shoot at me felt very tight and lead to quite a few failed attempts. But could never get it consistently. Maybe making those floating platforms a little longer would help with this, unsure.

The art is great! Really nice to look at and I enjoyed the pixel art and shaders. All the platforming vs background was very readable and easy to parse. SFX went well with it as well.

Great job!

That was a good cutscene, then game starts without informing that the cutscene's over. The platformer gameplay is nice and I think the coyote-time accidently became double jump.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'll clarify the cutscene transition and investigate the coyote-time issue. I appreciate you playing and bringing these to my attention!

This is a super polished game, the environment and backgrounds look fantastic and I really liked the cutscenes that play and the fact that there's a story. The difficulty gets pretty relentless but it's still doable with a few retries. I made it to the end and encountered him. Well done!

I loved the storytelling! The boss was pretty diabolical but I enjoyed the difficulty! Great job!
