Which path did you choose?

Fresh Build

How does your game bring our theme, OUT OF TIME, to life?
Bombs with 60-second timers fall endlessly. However, the actual length of a 'second' varies for each bomb and becomes shorter as the game progresses. The beep sound that plays each 'second' audibly represents time, emphasizing the OUT OF TIME theme.

What did you do to ensure accessibility of the game?
Honestly, this is my first game, so I focused primarily on completing the core implementation. I kept the controls simple to ensure basic playability.

Did you include the Indieformer or Patch Notes logo somewhere in your game?

No

If AI was used in your game, let us know how you used it.
I used Gemini as a tutor to help me understand C# syntax and to proofread the English text. All code was rewritten by hand after studying the logic.

I liked the idea a lot and had a great time, it’s a little hard to handle the scrolling on a laptop so I only got 11 :). I would love to see more of the game in the future, such as, bombs that you don’t need to have the colored snipper for, color blind mode, time upgrades, etc! If you have time before the game jam ends I would really appreciate it if you tried mine :]!

Got up to 116 defused bombs. Good use of the theme, and while the concept is simple it does feel good once you get into the flow. After a while it gets hard to read how much time is left on each bomb, so a possible improvement might be some other visual indicator to show how close a bomb is to exploding, like gradually changing color or a light that pulses faster and faster, to make it easier to quickly judge which bomb needs cutting next. Well done!

That is exactly where the gap between my intention and the actual game itself lies. My original idea was to have players make quick judgments based on the timer, but I realized that if the timer is easy to read, the game loses its thrill. I did consider adding a blinking light, but I didn't think it would do much. Your suggestion about color changes sounds like a great way to improve it, and I think adding some shaking effects would be good too. Thank you so much for playing!

Nice and simple game! Considering this is your first game, even with AI's help (I personally don't like gen AI, but I get it that it's a helpful tool), this is really nicely done! I played for a few rounds and am quite enjoying it. Got a high score of 230, not sure if it's good enough. I guess the main draw of the game is in its simplicity, and thus it feels really addictive for doing simple tasks in a super-fast manner.

Other things I like:

  • Easy-to-understand gameplay loop
  • Tense ticking sound which, for some reason, feels hypnotising after a while
  • Nice and simple graphics that convey the information efficiently

Suggestions:

  • Although difficulty is slowly rising, I think it would be more interesting for a bit more variation the longer you go. Something like more bombs, or more colours, or heck, even dummies that don't require clipping
  • Some background music would be nice

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the whole game development process. Keep up the good work and keep making games!

Thank you for the detailed feedback. Since you scored over 150, I’d say you’ve fully experienced the game.

I also noticed the lack of background music more clearly after uploading it. I did try adding some tracks, but I realized the music changed the game's impression too much. I felt I needed to define the game's identity first to choose the right music, but since I couldn't do that clearly, I decided to remove it for now.

Your suggestions for variation are interesting. Adding things like bombs with double wires could be a good idea. Thank you for enjoying my first game despite its shortcomings.

Simple and effective. Great job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you. And those are the two things I was aiming for.

Cute and quite interactive, I reached 61. Thanks for the game!

Developer

Thank you for playing! Seeing everyone's scores makes me realize that, as the creator, I’ve become a bit too used to my own game's mechanics. (high score is 333)

Although the game is simple, it doesn't take away from the fun of it. I really liked the bomb's timer progression, as it added some level of skill. Overall, very cool game. Plus, for your first game jam this is amazing. (High score 30)

Developer

Thank you. Maybe not the second one, but by the third game, I’ll try to make something even better.

I Like this game. btw my highest score is 27 :)

Developer

Thank you. As time passes, it gradually speeds up, reaching its maximum after 75 seconds, so it becomes more difficult toward the end.

This game is so much fun!

Thank you for your comment. I really wanted to return the favor by playing and reviewing your game, so I even downloaded it and gave it a try. However, unfortunately, I suffer from severe motion sickness and can't play first-person games for more than a minute. It is strictly a personal physical issue; I get motion sick from FPS games, not to mention intense action movies as well. It's definitely not a problem with your game. I'm truly sorry.

Thank you so much for taking the time to download and try it, I really appreciate that. And no worries at all. I completely understand. Thanks again for the kind words!

Developer

Thank you! This is the first comment I’ve received on itch.io. I’ll remember it for a long time. I really appreciate your kind words.
