This was pretty excellent. Music and sound would have been nice, as might a board clearing bomb or something, but still, really solid mash up.

Developer

Thanks - I do like the idea of a bomb (or maybe some similar power ups to mix things up).

Submitted

Great idea, and pretty well implemented, but music and sound effects would have been nice. Also the collisions felt kinda weird.

Developer

Thanks - I never get time of sound effects on these shorter jams!

Submitted

Very cool idea for a game combination! I needed a few tries, but managed some complete lines xD I found x a weird decision for shooting, but apart from that controls are smooth.

Developer

Thanks! Glad you managed to clear some lines :)

I’m going to blame PICO-8 (the engine I used) for the [x] for shooting; (I think you can also use z,c or v) - but it’s probably just me not knowing how to change it :D

Submitted

i suck at tetris but had fun with the shooter element - i really like how you made these two genres fit together really well!

Developer

Thanks! Glad you had a fun time.

Very creative and cute, I just found the pace of the game a little slow, but nothing too disturbing, very good! (actually I was surprised to find a game made on Pico-8)

Developer(+1)

Thanks!

Yeah- if I had a bit more time I’d have thought of a way of ‘tuning’ the bullets so you had to use the lines a bit more.

(I did once have the blocks moving twice as fast, but I kept losing during testing so :P)

Submitted

Really cool! Great blend of both genres!

Developer

Thanks- glad you liked it!

Submitted

good concept! I'm just too bad to actually clear lines

Developer

Thanks!

I don’t think you’re the only one, the randomiser is a bit stupid/unforgiving!

Submitted

Very cool! I agree with bullets being too fast, and I think it would benefit immensely from some AI picking and choosing where to send pieces instead of being completely random.

I took a video of your game, you can check it out here! http://bit.ly/bean-stream

Developer

Thanks - and thanks every more for streaming it, was amazing to be able to see someone playing one of my games :)

I know what you mean about the bullets - I had hoped the high scores for lines would have been enough to tempt people away from that exploit; and I agree about improving the AI from random to something a bit more satisfying.

Glad you had fun though and managed to score a few lines

Submitted

It took me a very long time to make a line, but I'm glad that functionality was there :P

Developer(+1)

Haha- yeah- pure-random is a bit unforgiving, I did mean to add a bit of ‘ai’ to make lines complete a little quicker, but a weekend wasn’t long enough!

Submitted

great idea ^^

A bit to easy, we need bullet limitation maybe, or more tetris blocs at once

Developer

Thanks!

Yeah- I had hoped the ‘high score’ you get for whole lines would be enough, but I agree bullet limitations would be better.

Cute little game with a nice concept. :)

I wish there had been some music and sound, though.

Developer(+1)

Thanks!

I never get the time to sort out a sound on these shorter jams!

Submitted(+1)

I know the feeling. 😁

Submitted

I really really like the idea and the graphics. Congrats!

Developer

Thanks - glad you had fun!

Submitted

I really like the concept but i wish we could use W, A, S, D for controls

Developer

Thanks! I’m not sure how to do that in PICO-8, but I’m sure there’s a way!

Submitted

Interesting combination of mechanics! I really like the NES feel of the artstyle too. A few more sound effects could make the game more enjoyable than it already is! Keep it up :3

Developer

Thanks - glad you liked it!

I never managed to get around to sound design for these short jams!

Submitted(+1)

Take a look at sfxr. It's a tool to make chiptune sound effects quickly. Might come in handy in future jams, I've only discovered it recently too!

Submitted

I´m in love with the design. Everxthin has a nice look to it. Intro, menu, blocks and spaceship. Thats awesome. The concept is simple but definetly not ordenary.

I liked the starting sound and missed more sounds in the rest of the game. Maybe some more action and using Spacebar for shooting.

Good job!

Developer

Thanks, I’m glad you liked it!

Unfortunately I never seem to get around to doing sound/music design! (the starting sound was ust the PICO-8 environment starting.)

Submitted

Fun to play, but would be better with some sound effects and music.

Developer

Thanks! I never find time for sound design on these short jams! :D

Submitted

Really cool game and concept !

Developer

Thanks!

Nice!! I really like the consept! its simple and fun, and it got out of hand real fast, for some reason i didnt get blocks in the lower row for a really long time, but its probably just my bad luck, overall really nice! (Also Pico-8 les goooo)

Developer

Thanks -

Yeah, it’s purely random, but I think if I had more time I’d make it a bit more helpful to the player.

Glad you had fun though.
