Nice job! The game was super fun and addicting. I got about a 5500. Awesome job!!
Thank you!! :D
I really like Tetris, and this one i think it's similliar. Really enjoyed game and addicting. Its simple, but its really can make you addicted, really nice one!
Thank you!! :D
Really addicting, although blocks often spawn too often of a certain type because its just random, maybe it would be interesting to use a tetris system, where tetris blocks can only appear 2 times before all of them appear again, making the board fill up slower and be more satisfying.
This comment helped me so much! Thank you! I had a few people mention better balancing and was trying to think of a way to do that elegantly and then when I read this with tetris and you explaining how it uses all pieces 2 times before a number can appear again it just clicked with my brain and is such a good solution. I raised it to 3 numbers appearing before re-shuffling and am afraid it's still too easy now but will keep experimenting. Anyway this helped a lot -thank you again! :D
This is the most addicting game in the jam so far. My highest score was 8450. I loved the concept and the graphics are done especially well. I do have a few thoughts on the gameplay tho.
I definitely prefer the one block at a time approach to dropping than the entire line dropping, because that way I can decide which ones to keep at the top and where to open a hole. At 5000 points, there was kind of a drop rush, where it dropped 3 blocks at a time at a faster rate than the usual game. I really liked that section. The difficulty there was really fun and I liked the little pause everytime I cleared pieces as it let me calculate my next move. After that, it just went back to the same dropping style as the beginning. A Scaling difficulty system in this would be really fun, maybe the speed in general increases and every 1000 or so points there's a rush like at 5000.
The rng feels really annoying because I keep getting higher numbers or numbers which don't mix and I do want to see if a bag system like tetris would work in this game. It might reduce the difficulty of managing all those pieces tho, if your board is just clear all the time, so I'm not sure.
Thank you so much!! Also, that's an awesome score!! :D I took your advice and removed entire lines dropping. Also, balanced the RNG out so that it uses all numbers 3 times before shuffling again and seems to work pretty well -but you are right it does make it easier -hopefully not too easy!
This definitely feels better than the original build, the blocks fall much more often and there's no annoying blocks which just won't go away because of bad rng and the difficulty actually comes from reacting to the blocks falling.
However, this does kinda work against itself because the blocks fall at an almost constant speed throughout the game. I got till 20000 points but it never felt like the challenge of the game increased. Maybe increasing speed or lowering the pause you get after every clear dynamically might be the way to go? Or having rare double-drops and triple-drops which increase in chance as the game goes on?
Other than that, this feels super satisfying to play. Compared to the original version, which felt like a game jam demo, this feels much more polished and ready to be shipped.
Oh cool!! Thank you for trying it out and letting me know! Very awesome of you!
Admittedly I was being stubborn about making all drops occur on rhythm with the music so eventually that tops out to it dropping 8/8 which is the same block dropping frequency as holding the drop button. So it basically goes from dropping blocks at 2/8 to 8/8 by 10k points or so where it tops out.
I suppose I could raise the bpm speed at that point but I think I like what you were saying about rare double drops and triple drops a lot better!
That makes me want to experiment with block dropping patterns as the difficulty progresses. Also 20000 nice score!! I had a similar experience but have been playing tetris attack/pokemon puzzle league for a long time so figured that was a factor. I think I might need to make the block number balancing a little tougher too.
Anyway, thank you so much for your kind words, insight, and awesome super useful feedback -very appreciated!
Oooooh is the music sync why the pause time is so long sometimes? I'm ngl I didn't notice the blocks dropping to the beat and... I still kinda don't. I definitely think the dropping speed should be increased, increasing the bpm might make the game feel more tense too.
I've played tetris attack once and I was really bad at it (but I'm good at tetris) so I think there's a different skill set required here.
Giving feedback is no problem, it's the least I could do to help a game I think has ton of potential.
It's subtle -i should probably make it more obvious and the pause was to reward combo chains but as the game got easier they became less necessary, I went ahead and dropped the combo freeze in this latest update and instead added occasional frozen block drops that have the same short freeze effect. I upped the difficulty balance by about 1/3 and the speed maxes out at double now too -definitely feels more challenging/ fun i think/hope! Anyway thank you again!! :D
this feels SO MUCH BETTER. It finally brings back that chaotic feel I wanted from the original 5000 drop. I do think it gets too chaotic too fast tho. Is the difficulty based on the score? Because gaining points is getting really easy when it's too fast, probably accelerating the difficulty curve. I was at around 2000 I'm not sure and then everything got chaotic and by the time I looked back at the points screen and I was at 100,000 all of a sudden. I also think the new block types are a brilliant idea. Getting a freeze within the chaos feels really satisfying.
Your game was fun and easy to pick up and play, but hard to put down ahah!
I really liked your usage of the theme and limitation. The art, music and sounds were clean and not too distracting. The effects when you make a combo felt good and clear to understand as well.
You could add a mini-tutorial message on the top at the beginning of the game so the player understands more easily that they need to make sums of ten. I was trying to match numbers before reading the instructions ahah.
It would also be interesting to see different types of tiles in the future.
Great job and keep it up!
Thank you so much!!! Will definitely keep making a tutorial in mind in future updates! Also will have to experiment with different tile types for sure! :D
Pretty fun! Music and art is well done; you could probably publish this to the Play Store as a mobile game or something similar, it's a good time waster!
Thank you and I fully intend to (after improving it of course!) ^_^
The art is great, the music is great, the sound effects are on point and the gameplay is fun!
My biggest complain is that most of the time I'm just waiting for the blocks to fall. I would like to have a button to accelerate the game. Or I would like to do additions with the blocks I already had (For example, I had a lot of 6s and 2s, so I would like to combine them to make an 8 and then combine that 8 with another of many 2 I had)
But the game is really good! I really really liked it!
Thank you so much!! Also, there actually is a button to drop blocks immediately -it's the Shift key or the left Gamepad button (also the right mouse button if using a mouse to play) I only put the controls in the description but I definitely need to list the controls in game too! Also, that's a cool idea -it would make it a lot easier though which could be a good or bad thing -I'm not sure lol -definitely something I will consider! Anyway thank you again!! :D
Ohhh okay haha I thought it would exists I just didn't knew (Or read, apparently lol)
Thanks for making your game! :D
This was a fun game. Though, I feel the RNG could use a bit of balancing. There were several runs where I went without seeing an 8 or 1 for the longest time.
Thank you and hmmmm the RNG has an equal chance for all numbers 1 -9 to appear. Maybe I could use weighted rolls maybe to make needed numbers more likely to appear or maybe if a number is on the board a % too many times I could stop allowing it to appear -afraid it might make it too easy but will experiment with it :)
Simple but very fun game. Really enjoyed playing this.
Thank you!! :D
ADDICTIVE AS HELL!!!!!!
Thank you!!!! xD
What a good game you have. Very easy to understand, and it's very polished for a jam game. Great job man!
Thank you -really appreciate the kind words! :D
Your game was so polished! What an absolute joy to play. Great work.
Thank you so much!! :D
Really amazing game! More people should play this. The UI is clean and the gameplay is very addictive and fun while still remaining challenging.
Looking forward to more!
Very awesome of you to say -really appreciate it -thank you so much! :D
I really liked it, very smart and challenging, good use implementation of the theme and limitations

Nice score!! And thank you!! :D
Very enjoyable puzzle game, I quite like the visuals. I managed to make it to a score 1980, I think I lost due to a bug though, as the blocks hadn't reached the top yet. I also ended up with a lot of 1s, 2s, and 3s, but I think that's intentional?
Thank you so much!! And nice score! Also, thank you for letting me know about that bug -this style puzzle game was a bit more challenging to make than I expected! And would say somewhat intentional -it's completely random what extra numbers you end up with -but with time it gets unbalanced and in doing so makes it necessary to try to use multiple of the same number with those extra numbers.
Quite fun! My best score is 1230.
The art is very nice.
The gameplay is very fun.
Maybe consider adding a way to make the block selector rotate?
Worthy of top 10 in this entire jam!
Wooot! That's a great score! and thank you so much for your kind words! :D
Oh! I forgot to respond to the "Maybe consider adding a way to make the block selector rotate?" part -sorry about that! I consider swapping in four directions initially but was afraid it would complicate the gameplay -rotating the selector could be a good solution -may have to experiment with that! :D
