How was your experience with Mini Jam?
The jam was quite alright. Limitation allowed enough room for interpretation, but still gave me a clear enough idea od what I'd like to do.

The game is really fun, I played it with my brother and my sister and we tried to do the best time. The enemies diversity is well used. The only problem I have is that the jump isn't long enough for me. Overall really solid entry :D

Developer

Thank you very much!  That meant a lot to me.  ^_^

Really nice art and great animations! Very impressive for weekend long game jam submission! Great Game!

Thank you!!  ^_^

Such cool mechanics and I love the variety of enemies, this is so cool!! The parrying mechanic is a very clever workaround for the one-hit limitation, I love that! This is great!! :D

Developer

Limitation breeds creativity, so they say.  (Something along those lines anyway)
Thank you for trying out my game, I will say that this is probably my best work so far!  :D

Super satisfying and fun to play, had a blast going all the way through it. It reminded me of 3 foot ninja which is a super nostalgic game for me. The green guys are a bit too fast though for the first enemy you see, but other than that this stuff is great!

Developer

Seems like the pikes (green enemies) were tricky for a lot of people.  X'D
I dunno, I didn't want the player to just vanquish them right on the spot, wanted to make sure the player was working for every kill.  Perhaps I'll tone things down for the first level though, when I put out a "complete" build for this project.

It’s like a Golden Axe with a swordfish, haha. I liked the art style, effects and specially the music was a great fit.

Developer

Mad props to Angelo for the music!  Working with them was a good experience.
Glad you enjoyed the game!

Submitted

I liked the art style, and the different mechanics of each enemy.

But it was very hard xd

Developer

The stream definitely confirmed the difficulty for me.  I'm going to be toning things down a little for the full version.  XD

Submitted

I loved this concept and execution, I played for way longer than I expected too. The mechanics are really satisfying when you do them right!

Developer

Glad you enjoyed it!  :D

Awesome! The variety of enemies was very fun, each one had a unique way to counter them. and combining several types made the different areas unique as well.  I like how you can earn a streak by not dying.

Developer

Thank you very much!  :)

Terrific animation and sound effects. Really solid and interactive gameplay could just use a little quality of life tweaks with the enemies Reviewed live at https://www.twitch.tv/scalphamission

Developer

Thank you very much for playing this on stream!  It was great seeing my game through a player's perspective, I felt I got some good insight for how I could improve.

Submitted

Nice art and concept, the score losing is a punishing mechanic more on the hardcore side!

The gameplay is a bit quirky at times, but we think that with a bit of polishing it could be a perfect rage game! :-)

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing!
Yeah, after watching this game played on stream, I've got some notes written for how I could maybe fix some of the kinks. later down the road.

Simple yet fun gameplay! Impressive to see so many various enemies for a jam game

Overall a great entry to the jam!

Developer

Thank you for your review!
Yeah, I've been really into action-platformers over the past few years.  XD

Great game, it makes me mad that the score resets, blocking is cool, the graphics are epic gamer, and it is fun to learn how to beat enemies. This is one of the best games I have rated (so far).

Developer

Gotta work for that high score!  :P
Glad you had fun with it, thank you for your review!  :D

Submitted

i really like it, its annoying that my score reset but thats not bad, i died 47 times xD, because of that shark, but i finish the game, really good game, the art style and music remember me the 90s games

Developer

Thank you for playing, good job making it to the end at least!  :D

A fun little game. I loved the blocking mechanic. It felt really satisfying to use

Developer

That's great to know!  I wasn't entirely sure how well the blocking would go over in this game.

Submitted

LOVED IT! I laughed through it all dying in chain (killed + restart and fall in water). Ended with almost 0 points and 39 deaths and I loved it!
The ninjas are really hard to time correctly
TLDR : I want an episode 2 please !

Developer

I'm considering making a separate build that has a few more levels, considering the reception this submission's been getting.
Hope the starfish weren't too aggravating, I actually had to tone them down once already; their attacks used to be more frequent when I first implemented them.  XD

Submitted

I loved hating the starfish ! Eager to see more !

Very good pace, just make the hitboxes a little clearer and you could create a real game out of it.

Nice nice nice.

Developer

This is the second time someone's mentioned hitboxes, but I can't put a finger on what.  Must be one of those things the player can see but not the dev who naturally knows the ins and outs.

Submitted

This is a banger! Besides my frustration for trying to build muscle memory to get past the dang green lizards, this was an incredible game and experience!

Developer

The green enemies are actually supposed to be pikes.  ;)

5 stars is all I have to say

Developer

Thank you very much!  ^_^
