I really like the gameplay and graphics overall.

Now the enemy encounter are too frequent. They got very annoying. But with a little bit less of that and some more story elements, this could be a great RPG.

The easter island enemy got stuck in the air and had to restart. I liked the concept but kinda got burnt out because there was so many fights while traveling. The cactus enemy made me rethink my life. Thanks for sharing!

Welp, I have very mixed feelings to say the least. The game is definitely broken (to the point that the easter island enemy's can just soft lock you, even with the lack of a game over) and missing a lot of features, but the things that did make it do work pretty good. I liked the Zelda II: The Adventure of Link-esque combat, the graphics are the game's high point...

Good job, that's all I can really say. Here's hoping you'll eventually get around to finishing this post-competition

Love the pastel colors and pixel art (*/ω\) Using top and side views is fun, reminds me of Tales of Phantasia.

I wasn't sure how to beat the cactus enemy without getting hit, I think it could be better if the spike was more predictable? Maybe always shoot it at the same vertical position with a clear anticipation sprite, or have a unique sprite for high and low attacks so the player knows to jump or stay grounded.

Yeah, you are right! I could imagine to integrate animations that indicated when and where the cactus throws his sting. I will definitely keep that in mind !

I really like the graphics and the real time battles.

Maybe some upgradeable weapons, would make it even more addictive  :-)

There is a lil upgrade system, maybe you didn't saw the upgrade shop in the village (I guess it's hard to find when you don't know where) Maybe I need some description and signs in the game :)

Awesome take on the genre. I really liked the approach you took to random battles (making them real time as opposed to turn based). Good decision on adding roads everywhere. It made it much easier to navigate the game.

Thank you :) My goal was it to make something different to the random encounters in classic JRPGs that are sometimes slow and timewasting. Hope I can work that out and make it more action-packed and even faster.

Hey! This is a well executed cute little game. I love the battle transitions, and the change of pace from the top down rpg gameplay. The colours are pleasing and the pixel art is clean and nice to look at. 

It may just be me not understanding the mechanics but I did not seem to die when my health bars had all gone?


Great game and one I will come back to for some good fun. Well done.

Looks like I turned on the godmode (psst, don't tell anyone!)
Well, I was in such a rush, generating some SFX in the last hour that I literally forget to insert my death function xD There should be a lil animation of the hero dying and you would end up in the village again, with loosing some EXP and Gold.

The post jam version will get all the little details I planned but missed before the game jam ended. It will even get a proper ending, with an endboss fight, so there will be  a proper game experience :)
