This is very sweet. I agree with another commenter who suggested this would work great as a mobile app that people could access every day!

A charming entry!

I never imagined a game like this would exist. And I'm glad that it does. Something like this would make a really good mobile game, if you are interested in developing this.

Definitely unique.

not really a game, but quite nice graphics and music :)

You're the second person to mention this, and I would like to know: Why you don't think this is a game?

There are books on what is a game and what is not, but I think that the book that got the deeper meaning is: The Art of Game Design: A Book of Lenses.

In the book, the author define game as “a game is a problem solving activity, approached with a playful attitude”.

What you missed is the "problem solving activity".

The most similar game to yours that I can think of would be Viridi, but there you need to water your plants once a day and plant seeds: even those very small activities create a problem to solve that engage the player more deeeply.

Nice and unique entry here, well done. Really like the concept of one go per day, make that choice factor all the more compelling!

Neat idea, difficult to review! I've played it on two days and feel like it's probably just different veg and different fortunes if I held off and tried it again on subsequent days, which appears to be the point. Nice work, and not like anything I've ever seen in a jam before!

I was getting my one fortune a day for some days before the jam voting even opened :-) Nicely implemented, and the “one a day” trick (which is really the fundamental thing this does) is unusual to see, and quite good. The game suffers quite a lot from text not being very readable; a different font might help with that a little, perhaps? Other games also have the problem, but they’re not quite as centred around definitely reading the text as this is. I mean, it’s not a game, per se, but it’s well done for what it is. Good work.

Thanks for taking some time to explore this!

You made a good note on the font, thanks. I'm always trying to improve my pixel fonts, this time I tried one that maintained the shape of words at the expense of lower case letters distinctiveness. Which apparently didn't turn out so well.

I'm curious why you don't consider it a game?

I think it's less a game and more a ... toy, perhaps? I should note that not being a game is not in any way a complaint!
