Nice game with a creative reload method, although my feedback would be bomb-dropping is hard and get punished for poor aiming.

Having a target crosshair like the arcade game "Xevious" would make dropping the bomb easier to hit. Or just having a bomb pickup would make the game less punishing.

Overall, the game is fun and creative, I enjoyed it.

Thanks ye wish i had enough time to add in an indicator for the bomb was abit of a low priority unfortunately

An onscreen indication for remaining planes or targets would be helpful

There is look in the top right

I mean for where they are, make it a little easier to find them, like a direction arrow

Well made game! The reloading concept is neat. Also I don’t think it’s often to see a game jam game to include tutorials.

Presentation is great. The gameplay takes a bit of getting used to, but it's well worth it. Efforts to incorporate themes into the game are also evident.

Very nice entry. I loved small details like shadow, making sure that you cannot fly away from the level and the intro level was really great to explain what’s going on. And reloading mechanism was really clever and original, loved it! My suggestions for improvement:

  • Camera could be zoomed-out a little further, I thought it was a little bit too close.
  • Would be nice to have some pickables like health (which you could shoot to pick), since game is pretty hard.

Really enjoyed this game. Mission 3 was a bear, those little green enemies are real bastards. Not sure if it was intentional, but you've definitely got all bullets on the same collision layer, which makes for some interesting emergent gameplay. It's a shame the default volume of the music is so low compared to the sfx, I didn't realize it was there until I explored the settings menu! Overall a nice twist on the genre (specifically the reload mechanic), and a great entry.

Great game! The reload mechanic is genius.

Those little green planes are just a bit too hard, but other than that stellar work.

Fullscreen was glitching out on me though, whenever I hit esc to pause it would toggle sometimes, and the fullscreen button in settings seems like it only activates when you leave the menu

Very nice game. I really like the unique mechanic of reloading by turning. It made the game more involved than just spamming the fire button and pressing R.

This was great, it let me feel like I was a pilot in Advance Wars!

Solid game, really well executed. I love the game mechanic, this is one of the best games I've played this jam.  I think this is exactly the game Kenney must have been thinking for those assets. You can do a lot more with this and actually develop it into a full-blown game; with more polish, weapon/plane upgrades, change of mechanics (even though you obviously implemented a rotating mechanic because of the theme, I think it could work with non-rotating as well) and visual effects. For the jam game I would add a bomb indicator (I lost once because I ran out of bombs but did not see a bomb indicator in the HUD).

The bombs are in the bottom right and yeah the reloading was mostly for the theme but i still like how you have to choose between dodging enemies and reloading

Ahhh, love me a nice top down flier.

Quite challenging too, especially the little planes are proper annoyin'.

Took me quite a few tries to pass all three missions.

If you do anything more with it, maybe some easier enemies too, for progression. And I almost got lost at sea a couple of times, maybe a wave texture here and there wouldn't be amiss.

Would love to see bombs destroy buildings and trees too, just for that extra bit of character.

Also, this bug triggered upon launch, I dunno.

Running Win 10 / Chrome Version 92.0.4515.159 (Official Build) (64-bit)

thats a first never got that nor did the people i got to test my game weird seems to be an issue your side

Submitted

I got this error as well but the game played fine for me.

Developer(+1)

oh it looks like its because i make the game fullscreen right away it must be something weird with the browser not liking it

Submitted(+2)

Like it.

I think that the 'load by rotation' concept is very nice, but would be better if put into some kind of infinite scroller. Because currently, you need to rotate all the time anyway, so making a full rotation does not really constitute a meaningful dilemma for the player.

Great presentation, and clever way  to do the reloading, kind hard to aim though, it took me a long while to defeat one single plane.

The "fly a circle to reload" is a genius way to incorporate the theme. Over all quite polished game, though i could see it getting a bit samey and/or frustrating over time, since it is at times quite hard to line up shots. There is a lot though one could do to take this further. Different planes with different strengths and weaknesses like sidegunners, or a radar, or speed or... see? it already gets me thinking about its potential :D

Well done.

Really nice, well-polished game. There's a lot here for something that was made for a 48-hour game jam. I really liked your inclusion of an interactive tutorial too. One little thing that frustrated me though was that it was hard to line up the missiles to hit the turrets. Some kind of forward indicator showing you where a bomb would land (like in Xevious) would be a big help.

Developer

Yeah would have liked to do something like that but i couldnt come out with something that would not be to obtrusive

Very nice. My only complaint is that the camera is zoomed in a bit far, I had trouble finding the enemies

Submitted(+1)

It was fun, well done.

As other have said, smooth controls. Feels like a plane for sure.
