Wow, what an amazing fun game, the music slaps, neat graphics, fun game-play, super polished. I haven't seen the screenshots before playing so I was expecting to solve the cube, and my face went :O when the level started. Really well done!

Developer(+1)

That's so awesome! I'm glad you got surprised :D Thanks so much for playing and for the very nice words!

Amazing presentation! The sound, the graphics, the controls, the clever application of the theme! And on top of it all, fun and intuitive! Really well made!

Developer

That's so wonderful to hear! Thank you so much for playing it and saying such kind things. <3

Submitted(+1)

Wow!  that was incredibly polished,  great work with the animations and use of the theme!

Developer

Thanks so much! I figured I’d do a small game this time, ended up being just as much work trying to make it good 😅 glad you liked it!

Submitted(+1)

Was a little lost in the beginning but I was able to complete the game after realizing I can somewhat just randomly throw cubes at the problem. :P

Very polished game with great music and sound effects. Well done!

Developer

Ahh yes, the embrace the chaos! But on a serious note, you raise a good point that the addition of a tutorial after the explosion would be good. Even just a “you can pick this up and place it here” type thing.

Thanks for playing and for the kind words! I appreciate :)

Submitted(+1)

One of the few games that got me to actually say "Wait, what?" out loud. That was such a welcoming surprise and a funny one. Really enjoyed the idea and music, extremely well animated too. Especially in the reassembly and shuffling.

Only issue that I had was being unable to rotate the cube, but seeing others were able to play just fine, I assume it's on me.

Good job!

Developer

Haha, that's so awesome! Thank you for sharing that with me.

That's very odd that it wasn't working for you. Only thing off the top of my head is if you have a non-QWERTY keyboard. The way I set things up might have meant it didn't work for you. Either way, if you re-map the controls in the pause menu, that might be a way around it?

Thanks for letting me know! I'll see if I can reproduce and fix it after the jam :)

Submitted

That's odd, I sure do have a QWERTY keyboard. Could be a browser issue as well, I'm using firefox. I mean, sure, regional keyboard but still qwerty. I wouldn't worry much about it unless more people bring that up

Submitted(+1)

Absolutely awesome game! The level of polish on this is ungodly. Everything felt so good to do, great game and absolutely stunning jam entry. Managed to get my ordered time to 1:23:33
:D

Developer(+1)

Woohoo! That is seriously so awesome! Not only did you get the best time for order, but it was also shorter than the best time for chaos. That is truly impressive!

Thank you so much for the kind words! It means a lot to hear that you've enjoyed it :)

Submitted(+1)

well done! i wasn't smart enough to figure it out, but everything felt tight. the sound effects were great and everything felt very natural. creative take on the theme!

Developer

Hey! That's no worries! If you really want, you can put them together in whatever way you see fit :D Thanks so much for playing and for the nice words. I really appreciate it.

The music is great, the graphics are pretty, the controls feel good after a few hiccups of figuring them out. The only improvement I can think is to have the single-color pieces face the color to the camera as soon as they're picked up (similar could be done for the others). Everything else was solid.

Fantastic submission! Hope to see more from you.

Developer

Hey! Thanks for the response! I’m going to +1 that improvement. I was actually working on doing that in an airport on my last day. I think my brain had fried by then so I couldn’t quite get it working well enough to keep it in. I totally agree that would make it a lot better!

Thanks so much for playing the game!

Submitted(+1)

This is honestly incredible. It took me a couple tries to get my head around the controls, but once I did they're super slick and responsive. Really great use of the theme and the wildcard, and impressively polished for such a short time. Also, just...the VIBES! The music and the visuals are perfect for the concept and all together have so much personality. I think I'll be coming back to this. Loved it, no notes.

Developer

Thank you so much. That is very kind of you. Glad you managed to stick with it long enough to get into it :D Thanks for playing!

Submitted(+1)

I'm a big fun of rubic`s cubes (have many types and shapes :) )

I was expecting to assemble it in the original way, but unexpected happened :)

Interesting idea and implementation!

Challenging in it's own way.

Well done!

Developer

That's really awesome to hear! How did you find it compared to how you'd approach solving a cube the traditional way?

Thanks so much for playing!

Submitted(+1)

In traditional way, my muscles memory is working mostly, here is something different. Probably brain should be used :D ha ha

Developer

Yeah, the only thing that I can see transferring is knowing where colours should be based off of an initial look. Everything else seems to be different :joy:

Submitted(+1)

Could be a cool training tool for memorizing the cube and then trying to reconstruct it.

Who knows where it can bring you in the future ;)

Developer(+1)

Oh, that's a really neat idea. I still struggle in real life, so I'm going to try this now!

Submitted(+1)

I'm hate rubics cubes, but some how you made me look at one for almost half an hour... Congrats !! Jokes aside, a really well thought and engaging game

Developer(+1)

Haha, that's so brilliant! I'm super glad that you enjoyed it.

Didn't realized you'd had an entry this jam, going to be playing that now <3

Submitted(+1)

I noticed that the game doesn't detect if the rotation is right, at least that happened the first time I played. But very nice way to apply the theme and very fun and original game!

Developer

Hey! Thanks for playing! Glad you were able to refresh and get it to work.

For my own purposes, when you say that it doesn't detect if the rotation is right, what are you referring to? Is it gameplay wise or a situation that ends up in the cube being weird like this:

Submitted(+1)

I meant that if the cubes are in the right position but rotated in the wrong way, the game still detects it as a win.

Developer (1 edit)

Ah, right! Yes. I was going to have it be a complete solve, but wanted to make sure that it was still accessible. I wcas going to split the best time category based on solved or not, but time didn't permit.

Another thing I thought about was to prompt at the end to try and solve it this time.

There is a little algorithm in there to detect if it's solved. It goes straight from complete -> scramble if you hit restart vs when it isn't done properly it will go through the reset state.

Submitted(+1)

Everything fits very well together here!

Good snap when pieces go together.

I would have liked to see some AA, anti-aliasing. The graphics suffer some from aliasing and would have looked much smoother with AA.

Very well assembled game :D

Developer

Thanks so much for the feedback! And I really appreciate the constructive criticism. I don't think a lot about graphics, especially not in 3D, so didn't even think about doing that! What a good shout, thank you!

Submitted(+1)

This definitely had me chuckling as I chaotically tried to assemble things xD great stuff

Developer

Bahaha, that is the perfect response! I am so glad you shared that, thank you <3
Now can you chuckle as you orderly try to assemble it? ;p

Submitted(+2)

The game is pretty awesome, i really loved the cube breaking and rejoining animations.
Sound track was also amazing, sound effects were ok, a bit itching to the ears but overall the game's really awesom!

Developer

THANK YOU! First for the kind words, but also confirming my thought on the sound effects. I had thought they were a bit off, but didn't have time for a second/third pass. I appreciate you calling that out <3

Thanks for playing!

Submitted(+1)

Soundtrack is fire, game concept is fire, controls are fire, I loved it! Great work!

Developer(+1)

You are fire! Thanks so much for the kind words! I really appreciate it :D

Submitted(+1)

Tough game to do quickly! But I like that - I'd wager there's a speedrun possible here. Sometimes things didn't click into place and it wasn't clear where, so maybe some kind of feedback on that might be useful. Overall, good game, music was incredible, and felt very good to beat.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Haha, one thing I wish I could have added was a leader board. I've opted to collect them from the comments if you've done well ;p

Ahh perfect! I did a pass at that, but I wasn't sure how much more I needed to add. I'd really like to telegraph that better, so thanks for confirming that suspicion I had!

Thanks so much for playing!

(I am looking forward to playing your game when I get home! Thanks for the firefox build <3)

Submitted

Apparently it doesn't work! Is there an export that would help you? Like Mac or Windows? I posted the Windows one as well, but wasn't sure how effective the Mac ones are (from my non-Mac machine). It will probably work, like everything Godot except these darn web builds! I did learn this is supposed to fix the FF issue for good: https://candordev.itch.io/foxfix

But I neither endorse nor do I know anything about it.

Developer(+1)

Ahh, damn! I was really looking forward to it. I'm on Mac, so I'll suck it up and download chrome to play it! Thanks so much for going through that effort, really appreciate it <3

Submitted

Thank YOU! I'm sorry you have to download Chrome - I actually dislike it myself, but don't have a choice due to work. :/ I hope it plays well for you!

Submitted(+1)

Short, effective, and super polished. Do wish there was a bit more depth to the puzzle mechanic, but all in all a very strong entry!

Developer

Thanks so much! If I were to spend another month on this, is there something you'd want to see? Some cruel ideas I can think of would be a "match the cube" mode, where you have to recreate the cube configuration of an example cube.

Submitted

I think something about color would be your best bet. Making the configuration would be pretty hard tbh. Maybe if you sectioned off the colors to make it more obvious or made a "example" cube the player could refer to in game to put the pieces back in the right place.

Submitted(+1)

Slick game with some killer music! Very well polished. Well done!

Developer(+1)

Yess! The music is such a banger, right? INS/OVR did an amazing job :)

Thank you for playing!

(+1)

Wow what a nice game.

It kinda reminds me back what I did with the cubes in reality :)

I liked it pretty much. Perfect mood, nice graphics, music fits well. The mechanics is pretty cool and extremely well executed! Very smooth animations and all that stuff around. Good Job!!!!

Developer(+1)

That's so awesome to hear! I went out and bought a cube because of this game. It's really taken me back. Glad to hear that is the same for someone else!

Thank you so much for the kind words!
