Very cool! Would love to see it fleshed out further. There's something very satisfying about building your own world with the tile system.

What a great game! Audio and graphics are great and the deckbuilding is quite fun. Hits all the genre tropes but still feels very fresh. Well done!

Cool idea! Audio and graphics were both excellent. One suggestion would be to preview where the station is, or show an arrow to it or something. Not that the levels are too big, but it'd help strategize where and how to build. Nice job!

Pretty neat! I personally would prefer the default movement and shot speed to be a little faster, but it was certainly workable. Being able to shoot the projectiles out of the air was a very pleasant surprise, and I found myself reaching for that when facing certain enemies. I did run into an issue where I had a run that had no enemies in the level, or maybe they were just very far off? I ran around for probably ten rooms or so and didn't see any so I reset the game and then had enemies where I'd expect them.

What a great game! Fits the genre perfectly, is very fun, and is a good looking game that clearly conveys the necessary map information. Well done!

Wow, this is a great game! Music and graphics are great, and the abilities all have their uses. I really enjoyed the short, small scale tactical battles followed by the shop, though I wasn't very good at getting additional gems so I didn't get to make use of the upgrades too often :D Great job!

Really fun card game! Had a good time with it, but one thing that would be neat would be for your minions to attack automatically as I found myself having to pause sometimes just so I had time to assign everyone to attack.

Oh that's a good idea! Glad you had such a good time with it :)

Really cool game. The level generation is well done and I like how alive everything feels with the particle effects, bouncy sound effects, and so on. The hunger mechanic wasn't apparent to me until I starved to death, so perhaps a bit more explanation of the mechanics would be helpful, but overall I had a good time with it.

Side note: I think it's neat how we both had the idea of a golfing roguelike but went in very different directions with that concept :)

Neat! Really digging the cyberpunk setting and the music was a good choice. Did have a few instances where I was shot and killed by something off screen, but overall nicely done.

Oh dang, sorry about that! Tried to capture a few edge cases in the generation but totally missed that one. Thanks for playing! Will be checking out yours as well.

Nice little roguelike. Looks good and is smooth to play. Each potion came in handy and there was certainly a layer of strategy depending on the potions available and enemies around. A minor suggestion would be for the animations to be just a tad faster, but overall it's a well put together game.

Neat game! A little hard to pickup at first, but not too bad after playing a round or two of it.

Thanks for checking it out! Glad you enjoyed it :)

The game is supposed to end after 18 holes, so 19 might be a bug, haha.

Sure, I've used both of those, plus some others, but the main reason I develop in Godot is that it just "clicked" for me right away, whereas I find the typical Unity workflow less intuitive, but that's a highly subjective thing. Unreal was out because I work in 2D way more than 3D, so a good 2D workflow was more important to me than 3D features, and while Unreal is on a whole other level, Godot has been making big 3D improvements with the 4.x branch so it's definitely a viable choice for 3D as well these days.

All three are great options, and unless you know that there's a specific feature you're looking for (certain programming language, has to offer X out of the box, etc), it's probably worth just trying out each for a bit and see what you like. Maybe do a game jam with each or something?

Glad you enjoyed it! I've not open sourced this game, but I have covered my tactical architecture pretty in depth on my site and YouTube channel if that's helpful. Doesn't always go into specific code details but does go pretty in-depth about how I've structured things:

Thanks for checking it out! In this case, since this is a fully 3D game, there's nothing specifically isometric about it code-wise. I can just tell a unit to go from cell A to cell B and it works out. As someone who's currently working on a fully 2D tactics game, though, there's definitely some benefits to doing it all in 3D, even if you're just going to billboard most of your art into the world. Could be one option to consider.

Another option might be to not to isometric at all for now and just do a regular grid to keep things simple. If you're a beginner, you might have plenty else to worry about :)

This is also a neat video about isometric grids you might find useful:

Very cool. Graphics are great and Worms-esque gameplay is something I always enjoy, though you don't see it too often. Ran into a bug where you'd keep moving after your turn ended if you were holding down the movement key, which got me in a tricky spot a time or two. Overall, nice game :)

Ha, oops! Yeah, there's a pathfinding bug I didn't have time to iron out where they can get a bit... lost. Agree on particle effects. 3D is not my strong suite, so I use these long jams to get some practice in, but it does sometime result in little, but important, items like that getting dropped. Glad you had a good time with it!

Thank you! :)

Whoa, we DID have similar ideas! Very cool game! Love the graphics and the audio, and it was a blast to play. Getting in and out of the mech was a nice touch as well. Summoning the mech didn't seem to do anything, but other than that the game ran great and I didn't have any issues. Great job!

Very clever! Game is fun to play and looks and sounds great. Well done!

Ha! Oops. At least it was a funny bug!

Very interesting idea. I could see fleshing out the high speed movement and shooting, maybe throwing in some acrobatics or something, and really having something special. Graphics are excellent, intro is much more than I'd expect from a game jam, and the game is fun to play. Well done!

Great quirky party game! Would definitely enjoy playing this with friends.

Solid game! It is, as some others have mentioned, too dark to the point it's difficult to navigate, but otherwise the visuals are excellent and there's nice little touches like your guns lifting up and not firing when near an obstacle. The mech felt good to control and the platforming generally worked, I think. The menu button to show the controls did not work for some reason as it just played the sound effect and didn't do anything. Not too terrible to deal with since the controls are pretty standard but thought you should know. Overall, well done!

What a fun twist! Something as simple as adding a gun to pacman definitely changes how you strategize over the original. Biggest issue for me was movement. Since it's not snapped to the grid, I found myself getting killed a time or two when I thought I was in the right spot to turn and shoot an enemy but was actually off by just a little bit. Really the only note I have for it, though. Great job!

Love the leaderboard! Such a fun addition to the game. The controls felt a little difficult to use as I think aiming was a little sensitive and movement was pretty fast for such cramped corners, but it's not a huge issue. Still had a nice time with it though I'm nowhere near fast enough to get on the leaderboard!

Thanks for checking it out! Based off of when this comment was posted, you may have caught a temporary build I had accidentally uploaded when fixing a critical bug that had some debug code in it that increased the number of enemies in the game. Sorry about that!

Interesting game. I wasn't quite sure what the boxes were for, but I would've loved to have seen more of the dice rolling mechanic and variations on it as I think that's an interesting mashup of  choose your own adventure + tabletop rpg. Writing was solid as well.

Whoa, I haven't seen Haxe Flixel in a while, but I used to use it as well, so that was fun to see :) Nice to see a strategy game as well, though I was a little confused on what to do at first. Just a little more UI feedback or a bit more primer text would help with that. That said, I think the battles otherwise worked well. Fairly easy to pickup once I got the hang of it. Nice job.

Thanks for the detailed feedback! And yeah, the buildings are scaled down photo to a crunchy 64x64-ish (varies depending the exact texture but thereabouts). Thanks for the bug report I'll look into that and see if I can figure out what's causing that.

Such a fun and creative game! Felt like it had just the right amount of "silly simulation clunk" for interacting with the world without ever feeling frustrating. Loved the music as well. Nice job!

I like this game. The artstyle is interesting and having an RTS-ish experience made for a fun time. I will say that I didn't find dragging right click to aim super intuitive, especially when I had an enemy up close, though.

Neat game! Like the mech design and the graphics overall have a certain charm to them. Aiming felt a little wonky for some reason, but I still had a good time with it.

Wow, what a well put together game! As others have stated, movement is too slow without the dash, but otherwise I think you nailed pretty much everything about this. Well done!

Thanks for checking it out! Sorry it crashed on the stream, but I think that's been patched now (fingers crossed). Will need to wait for some more reviews to come in to know for sure as it's a little inconsistent as to when it happens.

(1 edit)

Thanks for the feedback! Shame about the crash. I think I've got that patched out now. Not that you have to replay it, but just as a reference for others since it's happened a couple of inconsistent times :)

Unfortunately I've already enabled SharedBufferArrays and can't reproduce the issue on my own install of Firefox :/

It's a little clunky (for some reason the enemies would often end up standing on top of me!), but very cool to see a fighter in the jam and the presentation here is top notch!
