Fantastic game! I loved almost everything about it especially the level design and animations! At times it felt a bit too slow. For example when walking from one room to annother and all enemies are already dead along the way.

But overall really great entry, congrats! ;)

Developer

Thank you so much! :)

Submitted(+1)

That was incredible! I really enjoyed the whole experience. The graphics were spot on and really gave the game a nice atmosphere. Good use of lighting, and the shiny material of the purple goo zombies stood out. The audio fit quite well, though the footstep sound got a little tiresome by the end.

Aiming was pretty challenging, and probably could have benefited from the angle of the barrel matching up better with the direction the character is shooting or something. It just felt a bit off the whole time. It would have also been nice to be able to move a bit faster.

Nice subtle use of the colossal creature and overgrown wildcards as well. :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! And thank you for calling out the colossal creature wildcard. I was pretty excited to include that, but I think you might have been the first to mention it!

I think the aiming is certainly the biggest thing I could have improved. This is my first time making a game with an isometric camera. I meant to go look at some other examples to try and get a feel for aiming, but didn't get the time. Interesting observation about the direction of the barrel. I had to add the gun and animate it manually with the Mixamo animation, and I'm still very new to animation. I think that could have improved things significantly.

Submitted(+1)

This is a pretty nice entry with a level of polish rarely seen in game jams. The graphics and level design are impressive! The enemies were suitably creepy although I did feel sorry for them at times.

Minor annoyance for me was that I wasn't always able to confidently aim, though that's probably just a reflection of my poor gaming skills!

Like other commenters, I also wanted a sprint or dash button, that dude is too slow for me!

Great all-round game entry though. Well done!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the kind words! I think I could have improved the aim further. My intent was that players would place the cursor on the monsters and that should get the bullets going in the right direction.

A sprint would have made backtracking less of on an inconvenience! A dash would as well, but I know that if I had a dash move, I would have been spamming it and it might have taken a little away from the atmosphere. :)

nice game bro. the vibe is really awesome

Developer

Thank you!

This game is pretty creepy! Love the atmosphere!

Developer

Thank you!

Very well made.

Good, creepy audio and visuals. The use of tall grass where enemies were harder to see, was very effective. The occasional muted "boom" with a swaying camera fit perfectly too. The slow walk speed was a bit painful at times though, and the aiming felt a bit unnatural.

Developer

Thank you for the kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed the camera shake and the enemies in the grass. :)

I kind of locked myself into the slow walk speed with the animation I picked off Mixamo and never dedicated time to trying anything else out (I've mentioned in another comment that my Mixamo -> Blender -> Godot workflow is very clunky). I liked the kind of cautious gate the character has for the mood I wanted to set, but it did make back tracking a little tedious.

The aiming is something I spent some time trying to make feel better, but there is still a lot of room to improve. I actually implemented a bit of an auto-aim, but ended up toning it way down.

Submitted(+1)

Woah! This is very impressive! I was pretty immersed. The only feedback I have to give is that the pointer was a bit confusing initially. It looked like a target to move to instead of a target to shoot.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! That is an interesting observation about the pointer! I hadn't thought about the fact that it could look like a target. Was kind of going for a cross hair sort of thing.

Thank you for playing the game. :)

Hello again nuclear bro, we had the same idea xD, I really like this game, the graphics are good, I like round shapes, the map is amazing, I like the plants on the walls and other details, I think it was better if you had some type of reload animation to, I like the mechanics they work well, the maps I big for a jam, the monsters are cool and creative, the sound is amazing too, I like the atmospheric that you had created here, but maybe add some random pitch to the monsters dead sound

----Problems-----

Idk if this was just me but I got to 66%, and I was exploring to find the other room, in my mind it goes to 99% and you fight or smth, but when I get to this room, the monsters were still and I couldn't open the door, the rest of the map was still good, the monsters work well, but in that room, I couldn't do anything, some prints

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the kind words! I should have added pitch to the monster death sounds. I do it for other sounds, and they all use basically the same API, so it would have been easy. I just over looked it! Great suggestion! A reload animation would also have been awesome. My workflow for going from Mixamo to Blender to Godot is absolutely awful, and so I cut some corners. I really need to improve that workflow, and I think adding a reload animation would be awesome.

As far as the problem you saw,  this is the first time I am seeing this! 😨 This looks to be a game breaking bug. I am doing some optimizations to remove and add things to the scene tree based on where the player is, and I bet you've run into some edge case that breaks things. Super bizarre though because I would expect that you wouldn't even see the visuals if this was the case. As far as I understand it, no one else has run into this issue, and several people have been able to reach the end of the game. That overgrown room has a door to the last fuel rod room which should have gotten you to 100%.

What did you use to play the game? I've tested this in Chrome and Firefox without any issue. The Windows build should also work correctly. I got feedback from a friend that the Brave browser had some issue that required a refresh, and I was unable to test the Linux build at all.

Submitted(+1)

I am playing on edge, thks for awsering, the game looks good tho

Submitted(+1)

Finiashed the game rn, did a speedrun xD amazing game

Developer(+1)

Yay! Thanks for coming back and playing through again. :) Should have added a timer so we could do proper speedruns. 😄

1 question? what are the green doors?

Developer(+1)

@EDRO - I am hiding sections of the map both as a way of revealing new areas as you go through doors, and as a way of optimization (less draw calls). I did not want to use that optimization for the doors because the doors are on the boundary between two rooms, so I was concerned about doors disappearing and players getting stuck/lost. As a result I never hide the doors. The green doors you are seeing, are doors in the background on the first floor that you've already walked through. The reason they are green is because the WorldEnvironment node adds green fog to objects far in the distance.

Thks

absolutely mind-blowing. highly impressive!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much!!

Submitted(+1)

It's really cool! It turned out almost a full-fledged game, albeit without the growth of the plot. A lot of things have been done well, and the game looks very decent. Game design leaves a pleasant impression. Great job!

Developer

Thank you! Yeah it would have been fun to have more plot than just cooling the reactor. Tried to do a little bit of world building the with room of vats containing the goo monsters. Takes a lot of art though! Plot is something I should think more about in future jams. :)

Glad you enjoyed it!

It’s amazing what you were able to do in just two weeks! The amount of polish is outstanding, it almost looks, sounds, and plays like a full commercial game!

Congrats!

Developer(+1)

Wow thank you! That is so kind of you to say.  I actually wasn't able to take advantage of the bonus week due to travel, so I am glad I was able to achieve this level of polish. Thank you so much for playing it. :)

Submitted(+1)

You did this in a week in one person?! What the… that shouldn’t even be possible, you’re a demon :D

It took us 4 people working for 2 weeks to get to a (hopefully) comparable level of production values and polish. I won’t be surprised if you win this jam :)

Developer(+1)

Oh thank you! I would be surprised! I have played some fantastic games so far. I'm so impressed with what this community creates each month.

I think the pixel art that y'all created was super impressive for 2 weeks. Pixel art is something I really struggle with. I knew I would lose the second weekend due to travel (and of course didn't know we'd get a bonus week), so I pulled some pretty late nights during the week to get the game done. Each game jam I get a little more efficient at creating models in Blender and setting things up in Godot. Also I've rewritten my menu code so many times that it gets quicker each jam, and I can reuse some of the glue.

Submitted(+1)

Wow, this is really impressive!

Great textures, models, animations, sounds, lightning, ambience, controls, sounds…

Everything there is in this game is done well, astounding work 🚀

The isometric view with 3D models works wonders, it reminded me of Little Big Adventure somehow, but your game is prettier AND controls better, congratz :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Had been wanting to do a game with an isometric view like this for a while! I'm glad it worked out. Thank you for playing it! :)

Submitted(+1)

Great entry, impressive graphics and audio for an overall very coherent atmosphere that makes the player instantly involved in the game.

Great job, congratulations !

Developer

Thank you so much. :)

Submitted(+1)

The atmosphere, graphics and audio are perfect.

Developer

Thank you!

Submitted(+1)

Amazing! Such a great entry, well done! You really nailed the atmosphere, graphics and audio work so well together.

I got a little stuck in the dark area, some (unnecessary dead ends?) but other than that it was pretty intuitive to navigate. I liked that the combat was easy enough for someone like me who doesn't play those style of game.

Browser didn't run well for me (but neither does my game, so probably an issue here). So I went for the Windows version, worked very well, but there is no full screen option?

Again, congrats, it's really well put together. Such variety with the environment but it all works well together. :) Looking forward to your next one..

Developer

Thank you so much!! Was really pleased with the atmosphere and audio! The dark area was difficult to navigate. I wanted it to be a little bit of a maze to get through, but kind of ran out of time. I was out of town for the bonus week we got and would have liked to give that area something more interesting. The windows build was kind of a last minute addition I decided to add due to the difficulties people had with my last game. I should have added a full screen setting!

Thanks again for playing! Hope to participate next month! I've got a some family plans that week, so I'll need to learn how to scope down if I want to submit something. Either way, I'm looking forward to seeing what you do next. :)

Submitted(+1)

game looks fantastic, plays really smoothly too, I admire your modelling work. good stuff!

Developer

Thank you! I've been practicing my 3D modeling a lot this year. These game jams are a great opportunity for it. :)

Submitted(+2)

Wow the atmosphere is fantastic, really good job on that !!! I had to backtrack a lot as I missed one door to complete the game though, but the graphics and really good sound design made me want to finish it :)

Developer

Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it and played to the end! The walk animation I picked kind of limited how fast I could make him move. It worked out great atmosphere wise, but made backtracking a little tedious.

Submitted(+1)

I'm in love with the visual style and atmosphere of this game. Really impressive 3D artwork, and I love the isometric view. The elevator ride in particular looks amazing

Developer(+1)

Oh wow thank you! I'm glad you liked the atmosphere! I am a big fan of isometric view and had been wanting to create a game with one for a while now. I was very happy with how the elevator turned out!

Thank you for playing. :)
