How does your game fit the theme?
Dice sides are able to be customized and are used as the weapons in the game, leaving the attack up to randomness.

i really like the idea of dice doing damage and customizing the dice! however they take a bit long to roll, so it can be hard to really use them. my favorite part was the knight attack animation, looked super cool! nice job!
The story feels like a guy that went to buy bread only to end up slaying the evil lord, but don't get me wrong it only adds to the experience! :) I also really enjoyed building the dice instead of rolling it, really neat. Good job!
I really liked the dice essentially being a grenade and how you can upgrade the dice as you go
through the level. The presentation needs some work but I think overall the game is fun.
Making your own dice by changing the damage on each side is a nice idea, and the game overall feels pretty fun. One thing I would have to say is that it's not really clear what I'm supposed to do at the boss fight, I don't see a health bar or anything like it to know if I'm dealing damage.
Fun game and a really original take on the theme! I did end up mostly spamming the shoot button but it was still fun! You should be proud of the submission! :)
That was a great game, I loved the idea of it! Sometimes it was hard to aim the dice, but the combat was pretty fun! And I loved the metroidvania-type gameplay as well!
I'm surprised I'm not seeing more games like this so far that are about changing the sides of the dice instead of just rolling them. Well done!
5 stars enjoyable!
Best game I've played so far. :) I love the idea of customizing your dice as you progress.
Interesting concept, though I think the presentation could definitely use a little more time. But it's a game jam so... great work! Had a blast!
Congrats on your submission Vortex Bros.! I got to the part with the infinity orb and had a very fun experience, it was a pleasure to discover each new mechanic, really fun and creative dice building system. With furher development this would be an amazing metroidvania.
Fun game. Lots of unexpected moments that were fun.
The player movement felt a bit weird but other than that it was pretty good for a 48-hour game jam! The dice customization was a really cool concept!
Neat entry! Also had the idea of customizing dice for combat but didn’t end up running with it.
The system for dice crafting was neat and worked well. It’s interesting that you have not only limited die faces but also limited weight, although at certain points in the game the choices didn’t feel super meaningful (if I’m limited by weight, does it matter if I have a 2 face and a 0 face, or two 1 faces?). This changed up a bit with the elemental damage and higher-capacity dice later on.
I did run into one glitch, where the audio got stuck on some sound effect after the double-jump boss. I had to turn the audio off after that point. But up to there you did a really good job applying the sound effects you found for cinematic effect (although dice rolling and damage sound effects would certainly have been welcome).
The pixel art is simple, but you did a good job filling in the gaps with the text scrolls. There were a couple prompts I missed because I moved through them too fast, though.
I think the biggest room for improvement is probably the more “game feel” parts. The combat tends to be jumping around and kiting enemies while throwing dice; but because the dice wait until they settle before they deal damage, this sometimes means a particularly bouncy die will just miss entirely even with perfect aim. The player movement could probably be a bit faster and less floaty as well. This was a little annoying when having to backtrack after getting powerups, since the combat is generally more interesting than player movement.
Congrats on making this in 48 hours!
Very fun game. Like the 2d characters with the 3d environment and if given enough time it could be even better. The music does make it sound like a horror game but its alright by me. One problem I have is the long random delay when you throw your dice to when it actually does damage. It was especially annoying when I was fighting the big boss that was jumping a lot. Still a fun game though. Played it for quite awhile. The character design is nice. The sword enemy was really good. Their attack was really cool. Overall a fun game. Good luck on the jam.
