Very fun! The voiced sounds for everything was a great touch and really matched the vibe of the game. Great animations and an awesome concept. I enjoyed it so much that I wish there was more in terms of upgrades, level layouts, and enemies, but I also appreciate how much was done here in 48 hrs. Great stuff!

Really fun game !!

Developer

thanks:D

Overall it's a very good game. Art and sound effects are very nice and match each other, and I liked how you can somewhat control the randomness by customizing your faces.

Developer

thank you! the control over randomness was what we had in mind when making this so we're glad to see we have seemingly succeeded:)

Very nice concept by rolling the dice while mid-air and the sound effects made me chuckle. Took me a while to figure out how it works, but as soon as i did it was very fun to play.

Developer

thank you for your nice comment and sticking through even despite the inital confusion:) do you have any suggestions regarding our itch page we could implement in order to make the game more understandable to new players? your input would be very appreciated! cheers!

Your page looks to describe most features pretty well (i probably just didn't read it ^^').
What I think could be improved is labeling the inventory as such, since i thought at first that every slot is the chest. Also as soon as you have about 2-3 ranged weapons there is no longer any danger in this game. Maybe you can counteract that with enemy variety or a bit more complex ai.
But of course all this is not that easy within 48h. Those are more my thoughts on how i (as a guy without experience in game dev) would continue development.

It gets boring really fast when you have two special faces. I managed to get all of the special faces.

Developer(+1)

due to the timeframe of the jam we had to cut back on variety a bit to finish the idea we had in mind, so it’s really more of a proof of concept demo than something you’d want to play for a long time. thanks for checking it out anyway! also congrats on getting all the special faces, even though it wasn’t really meant to be a challenge.

Rolling the dice each time you jump is a unique concept. I've never seen something like that before and I really enjoyed it. All 5's! : )

Developer

omg! thank you!

Played for much longer than I care to admit. Just straight up hilarious sound design with the mouth-made effects. Clever design, but wish there were more enemy types. But obviously still very impressive in this time frame. Great job!

Developer(+1)

other enemy types were one of planned features we unfortunately had to cut in order to submit the game on time:/ we're glad you seemed to have really enjoyed our game despite that. thank you for your kind comment, it means a lot!

Submitted(+1)

Same here. We got 2 enemy types in but had artwork for up to 4. Tutorial didn't make it in as well. The bane of game jam timeframes!

Submitted(+2)

Is it just me, or are the animations on the player character very satisfying? That dice roll is such a fluid-feeling jump animation I just found myself constantly wanting to jump. I really like this!

Developer(+1)

it might be just you, but we sure hope it isn’t;) thank you for playing, we’re glad you enjoyed it!

Awesome sound effects, haha. Art is great as well! The hitboxes are a little finicky, I took damage from snakes even after killing them. The lower damage normal pips are pretty useless, feels bad to open a chest and get one.

Developer (1 edit)

the lingering hitboxes are an issue we're aware of, unfortunately we didn't catch them before the submission time ended:/ we're glad you enjoyed the game nontheless! thanks for the comment!

Submitted(+1)

The game so fun that I didn't realize that a lot of time I did the same level against the two snakes :D

I loved the sounds, amazing voices!

Developer

haha yeah level randomisation does wonders for tricking people when you have to cut out half of your planned floors because of the time limit:P

A good game with a neat core mechanic. Really good use of the theme

Developer

we really tried to go for something more out there than most would expect of the theme, glad to see it seems to have paid out!

My favourite game of the jam so far! Visuals are nice, concept is a great idea, really like the idea of replacing the faces. Audio is also a great addition

Developer(+1)

wow, that's a high bar to reach! thank you!^^

Awesome job, I like the upgrading aspect

The movement feels great, but it's quite frustrating to try and kill the snake enemies with your starting weapon - especially if they are on a tiny platform and turn around frequently. I think the best way to fix this would be to allow the player to attack with their last held weapon while in the air

Developer(+1)

that’s a very fair criticism and a good suggestion! i don’t know if you realized (maybe because we didn’t really do much to communicate that) but on the dicey platforms you can actually attack the snakes from below as well

Submitted(+1)

Ah no I didn't realize that, that does make it a lot easier!

Submitted(+1)

Really like the look of the game and also had some fun with it. My two gripes are - I wish the jump was a little bit faster and less floaty and that there were more enemies besides snakes.

Developer

thank you! we had more enemies planned and even animated but they had to be cut due to time constraints…

Submitted(+1)

I like the pace, and loved the sfx and art. The gameplay feels good, and its quite fun. Tho it is not very merciful pixel-wise. A little touch on the snake and its game over, this can be punishing in a game with this fast pace. Still very fun and pretty, congrats for the submission!!

Developer(+1)

thanks! we can look into that if we ever update the game in the future:) in the meantime, it’s pretty challenging in the start but gets easier once you roll yourself a more powerful build!

Submitted(+1)

Moving the character feels good, controls and UI feel natural, and the sound effects are the greatest thing ever

Developer

as the sound effect guy it’s nice to see people are having as much fun experiencing them as it was to record them haha
