Brilliant! Once I figured out how all the dice work, it was quite fun stacking together effects and working out how best to buff myself and take down the enemies. And the style is amazing as well, very Persona-5-everything-angled-radically, and I love it. I also quite enjoyed how you could roll over everything to get more detail about it. Couple small things if you're going forward with this:

  • The energy mechanic should be pointed out, at least highlighting the energy that will be used with the roll of a die. I thought the game was bugged at first when clicking the die wasn't doing anything, and for a good couple minutes I was trying to figure out why I could or couldn't roll particular die. At the very least the descriptions should say how much energy each die uses (even if the D20 is the only one to use more than 1).
  • The hover details on the final fight go off the top of the screen since the HP bar is so high up. And it wasn't always obvious when effects would be ending (at least once I saw it say an effect was "for 0 turns").
  • It's interesting how the dice actually roll around and drop on the table to determine what happens, but it seemed to me that the number you could barely see at the top was the number being chosen? If we had a better angle on the dice, or maybe highlighting the side that is being selected before the die vanishes, it would be nicer.
  • Sometimes the die would seem to take quite a while settle, so I appreciate that there seemed to be a timeout for how long it would take to roll. I was afraid the game was going to softlock when the die slowed way down like that, but it never happened. The die also seemed to spin insanely fast a lot, which seems not quite realistic to match the realistic rolling.

Anyway, loved it all, the art style, the music, the tone, it's all great!

I am very much completely reviewed out so I apologize if this is rather short. I really like the game, its pretty fun and the characters are very amusing. It actually reminds me a lot of my days as dm for my best friends during college. I think presentation wise the game looks fantastic, and the illustrations are really excellent. The presence of music and sounds helps keep the game feeling alive, and i was very impressed that everything that should have audio did. I also really like that you(meaning the team) included dialogue and that it had a fun unique sound effects for the different characters. Gameplay wise, its fun and feels very much like characters playing dnd, which made me smile. I think my only feedback is that I which there was a clear tutorial but given the time constraints of the jam, and given how much game there is, I can totally understand why that didn't make the cut.

Great job to everyone on the team.

Wow, an incredible game! I loved the dialogues, characters and art. The different dice you gain were interesting. Lizzy's first fight seemed to be the hardest out of all, the debuff effect the enemies gave was too strong, though I did beat it on my second try. Is the second Stewart fight missing in this version? It would be nice if you could choose which enemy to aim at, and to be able to see the energy cost of each die and if you have enough energy left. A very solid game, I would love to see this developed further!

Developer(+2)

thank you so much for playing! there is a small bug we want to fix in post where If you lose against Lizzie’s first fight, the Stewart boss battle doesn’t load… weird!

Ah so that was the reason. Good luck with the post-jam version!

I can certainly relate to the story, friends that doesn't want to stop even if there is an exam the next day XD

Really good art and  solid mechanics, requires some strategy but can be played casually.
Really impressive stuff, highly rated !

It's just a fun little romp. A nice light strategy game with goofy vibes and great art.
Hard to find anything to complain about here 👏
I suppose it's biggest weakness is that the enjoyment hinges on if you appreciate the nerdy themes and writing style. But not much of an issue with this audience lmao.

That was a fun game with a cute story and great art, and as a DM i' a sucker for Dnd references in games. Great entry!

Art and combat design is fantastic.

Wished the dice roll results were viewed from a top-down perspective to be more clear and exciting, and that we could choose the enemy we want to attack instead of in Middle>Bottom>Top order. Also somewhat unclear how much energy some dice use until you really look into it.

Great design and interesting concept. It feels a bit too random but then again it fits the them of the jam.

Super polished, love the character designs and art style and world and writing and aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa it's so good

The closest things I have to constructive criticism are that ice seems really overpowered with how it only takes a few results to reduce damage output to nothing and that there's not much feedback for status effects aside from enemies dealing nearly zero damage

Phenomenal game!

i love the artstyle!

I could play a full hour game of this if expanded upon. Amazing art style. Only feed back id that it would be nice to see the results better from the dice as it is rolled. Hoping you expand on this game.

art director here — thank you for your kind words on the art style! I’m so glad people are enjoying the game and want more of it.

The amount of polish is insane !
Not the most creative game but by far one of the most charming and beautiful !
Nice work !

This game is absolutely lovely !! The art is wholesome, the music is really well made and the story is wholesome as can be. Excellent work, I'd litterally play a longer version of this.

Fun one! Love the dialogues. I would welcome more control over what's happening. Right now it just feels too RNG

Really polished experience with lots of charm  and great art! A little confused as to the exact mechanics of the luck feature as well as the die number rolled not equaling the number actually applied, but besides that really great stuff!

Really awesome game, amazing that this is the first time this group has worked together! It honestly felt really solid and polished with art, animation, story, mechanics, controls, audio, everything! Very impressed and I can't wait to see what is next!

I would appreciate if your team would check out my submission and provide any feedback you have, I am trying to gauge interest to see if I should continue further development too!

Great game, beautiful art, beautiful story. The battles could get pretty busted with the luck stacks, but besides that it was perfect. Fantastic job!

Delightful graphics and audio, and by far the best character design I've seen in the jam! I didn't know a hunky slime was something I was missing from video games, thanks for showing me the way
