Yo, we had exactly the same base idea just different expansions! This is the only other game that is thiis close to mine. Mine is 2D though, but yours look very cool too! Fun to see that I wasn't the only one with this "dice are your actions" idea. It would be fun if you could try my game too!

Really love the aesthetic and the strategy gamefeel. I think with some more playtesting the pacing issues could be removed -- it's a lot of waiting around -- but has really great potential.

Developer

The action economy and pace is something we had a lot of thoughts about while making the game, and something we've had a lot of feedback on, definitely a something to expand on and tweak going forward! Thanks for the feedback!

I really enjoyed this, it has a lot of potetial! Being able to move freely out of combat would help avoid a lot of waiting for the result that gets you where you need to be to advance. On the other hand I thing a multiplayer aspect to this game would be so fun (either working together or against players to score points).  Adding some different dice with different values to add more of a risk reward aspect to the game would be cool.

Had a lot of fun with this!

Thanks! We have a lot of ideas for expanding and improving on the concept if we pick this up again in the future, we originally planned to have custom dice in some form similarly to the special dice in Mario Party but we had to scope back for the jam!

This has potential to be a great strategy game. Visuals look great and I like that we can choose from multiple dice and plan accordingly. My biggest issue would be having to wait for correct dice to move between rooms. If we could move freely when out of combat, it would be great. Overall I like it, good work.

It's a decent idea but I didn't enjoy having to roll the dice to move when not in combat, I would roll over and over again just to move to the next combat encounter. The combat is cool, SFX are nice too and the visuals are nice too.

The arts are pretty cool and I really like the idea of determining actions by dice, but it feels a little bit lack of enjoyment when rolling the actions - I did not feel luck when I can kill 2 enemies in a roll, and did not sense any tense when I have a bad roll. I think the problem might be that I can keep rolling dice because there is no cost.

This game does inspire me. Nice job.

Thanks for the feedback! I agree the action economy can be very weighted in the player's favour. We did think of implementing some sort of cost, perhaps thematically replacing health with luck and allowing you to spend that to reroll, but unfortunately we ran out of time!

The game looked amazing, with good sound design for everything. But the gameplay became tedious really quick. Having to roll multiple times to wait to move to the next room got  boring really fast. And with how little threat the enemies pose, the dice rolling didn't really add something to the combat. Not knowing when the spikes pop up can make them very unfair, and the space bar did weird things.  But non the less, the idea was well executed, and beautifully drawn.

Also good to have a quit button!

I feel this could be expanded on and turn into quite the interesting little game, the problem is when just roaming around and roaming from room to room, having to sit and roll constantly to get the rolls you need is a bit frustrating, and it would have been nice to be able to press space or something to roll the dice instead of constantly going back and forth with the mouse.

Combat, while simple, if expanded would make for an interesting game that's for sure.

Good job.

Developer

Cheers for the feedback! I agree, looking back moving between rooms could have been made a bit more convenient. There is a space bar shortcut but it was a very last minute addition so it doesn't work quite right unfortunately!
