The game is nice if you take the time to read the description and think about the game/watch what is moving.

There's absolutely no tutorial in-game to guide even the first click, and because there's no hint if anything can be clicked, if the player is not willing to learn by himself by testing/paying attention or reading the description, they'll just not get the game and put a bad rating.

Hopefully, it seems the majority of the community wants to really try to understand games and put the extra effort to actually understand the vision of the developer.

Anyone that is a bit lost about the game, like any other, just read the description as you'd read the manual of a board game. It'd be a non-sense to actually play a board game without reading the rule, it kinda applies to that kind of game here (and any other like that on jams).

But it's true that it'd be better with a real tutorial in game, but the vast majority of the game here don't :D.

I feels a lot like a clicker but you have to pay a little bit more attention. Number go big! Captivating.

Did not think I would see a resource management and scaling management kinda game here. Pretty cool idea!

The music and sounds fit very well into this game! The text font and the art also fit perfectly! Very well done.

What really did it for me on this game, was this little exploit I found which allowed me to pay for another die's upgrade, using a different pool of resources just by stacking a different die over an already occupied slot. That little bug was really insidious, but as they say:

"It's not a bug, it's a feature!" Hahahaha.

This was really fun.

Quite confusing in the beginning, as indeed the learning curve *is* steep. But once you're past the initial hurdle, it becomes plenty entertaining.

Coincidentally, that same exploit allowed me to then reuse the stacked die, as it wasn't locked into place by the slot.

Developer

Ha, yep! You found the bug. You can also use it for infinite resources ;)

Someone found that like an hour after ratings opened. I've already fixed it for post-ratings though. Thanks for checking it out!

Loved this. The art-style/graphics, the gentle music/sfx, it all felt very satisfying. Fantastic work!

Developer

thank you for playing!

Very impressive that you created a resource management game in a weekend. And one that feels challenging and balanced and fair at that. Well done!

Developer

Thank you so much for the kind words!

This was really fun for me,  I've never seen a concept like this so far in the jam and this just clicked with me. The artstyle was fantastic in establishing the atmosphere of this game and the luck element was done in a way that makes it fun and not frustrating. I'm not very familiar with the design of this type of game so I don't really have "useful" feedback, but I think a short interactive tutorial in the beginning might've been nice to reduce initial confusion and ease the player in (Of course, you seem to be aware of that already). Solid entry, I loved this!

Neat idea, was a little confusing to start but then I picked it up. Music fits nicely too

In the current build, a lot of assets have different pixel scales which makes the game look like a mashup of unrelated assets. Art-wise your game would've looked a lot more cohesive if you would've gone with a uniform pixel scaling.

The gameplay is fairly complex and while fun and interesting and I love that you went with a digital board game I think a concept like this may hinder you in ratings due to the complexity of the game. People do not spend too much time learning games and if mechanics are too complex you may run the risk of people dropping the game.

You have fairly large cards for placing upgrades but it only counts as an upgrade if you place the dice in the specific dice spot. I assumed I would get the upgrade by just placing the dice on the upgrade card. I would recommend adding a feature where dices get magnetized to the correct spot if they are placed anywhere on the upgrade card.

You could also add a scale and a flash to numbers whenever a number is updated to draw attention to the player that something has changed. The numbers are an important aspects so it's important to make sure players are aware when the change.

Thanks for sharing your feedback from the stream here

Great entry! A lot of careful thought went into the design of this and I gotta say, you pulled it off. The mechanics are solid and they feel fair, once you understand them that is :P
Lots to take in and the learning curve is a little steep up front, but once things click into place, it's a good time. Well done!

This game is great! Once I got what I was doing I didn't want to stop!

Pretty complicated for a jam game, but had my fun with it! You should improve on making great looking UI before your next jam, but keep doing the thing!

I love this! It's such a   well-designed dice/resource management  game and a lot of fun to play. The one thing I think that could make this even better is adding a win condition instead of always ending in a loss and going for high score (unless there was one and I just didn't get it). Maybe the win condition could have something to do with getting all 4 wisps in one turn  or rolling past a certain fixed number. I just feel like this one extra element would turn this already excellent dice game into a perfect dice game.  Amazing work with this!!

Developer(+1)

Thanks Steve! Very kind words!

Yep, my spouse had the same feedback - definitely needs a win condition. My initial thought is to get all 4 "trackers" below the skull and survive. I'm not sure it's possible in the current design, balance-wise, but it felt like a mechanically sound goal given the existing player actions.

This one's pretty cool, although there is a bit of information overload when you first start out.

Developer

Thanks Julius! I agree. I didn't have time to create a proper tutorial or leaning experience, so like many board games, it's down to reading a wall of text.

Thanks for checking it out!

Cool game, i got exploit of free resources! Good work

Developer

Oh? Mind sharing your exploit so I can learn from it?

My favourite game of the jam so far! Gives nice board game vibes.

Developer

Thanks! That was my goal. I'm a big board gamer and bringing some of that into video games is hard sometimes, but this jam definitely lent itself to that.

I'm not really sure what I was doing, but I wanted to do it more :-)

Developer

Dice get big feel good :0

I wish I had had enough time to include instructions in-game. Could you tell me more about your learning experience? What was easy to understand? What was difficult? Is there something you still don't get?

Submitted

Nice, I liked the idea and how the game feels.
