The title alone was enough to make me check this out. Funny, and sadly a little relatable! I liked that the files moved into different folders between fights so it didn't get stale for the duration. The little jabs like "programmer forgot to implement" and "heavy_staff_final_final" also made me chuckle.
I think everyone has been at the "_final_final" point before, haha. Thanks for playing!
Very beautiful game! Enjoyed the experience in its entirety and was laughing at the results of the options chosen!
Yay! Glad you enjoyed it!
Clever idea! Makes you think as a programmer would, it's actually more of a memory game than an RPG one. But still a very enjoyable experience
Yeah. We should have outwardly advertised more as a memory game. Thanks for playing!
Got to the boss, but died due to not having (or finding?) Light axe attacks, haha. Very good theming, and hopefully people will learn from this that a good project file & folder structure is very important in projects!
One would hope! Glad you liked it
Really unique concept and love the critique on filenames. Definitely a topic I can relate to. I think the game is really well balanced and a nice length for a jam.
Awesome! Glad you enjoyed and can sympathize with file naming pain, haha.
the concept is unusual and interesting, I liked it!
sometimes it is a bit too vague which file does what exactly, maybe a bit more learning about that before the boss comes would be helpful :)
It certainly was a tough act to balance on our end. Thanks for playing. Glad you liked it!
Clever concept! I got tripped up by the naming changes in the boss room, but I think with a better memory I coulda beet the boss.
Memory certainly is a key factor here. Thanks for playing!
Cool idea! The concept of working behind the scenes to give the player what they need when they need it is very nice! Great work.
Thank you!
very fun Idea! But sadly it afer a little while it becomes a bit tedious.
Glad you liked the idea. Thanks for playing!
Nice graphics and old-timey console look and feel!
Yeah! Our art team did a phenomenal job giving it the feel it has.
Kind of confusing. Seems like a turn based rpg?
Kind of. You are selecting the game files for the player of a turn based rpg. The files are poorly named (on purpose), and you are supposed to figure out what they do.
A fun take on the theme, my only wish would be for more information as to what each file did, and what constituted a bug. There were several times a file clearly didn't do what was intended (i.e. debug attacks), but didn't cause a bug.
Thank you for the feedback! We were purposely being a bit vague to recreate the feeling of not knowing exactly what a poorly named file does.
nice take on the theme, but do any of the files do what the player wants the program to do? regardless, fun game
Many of the files do have beneficial effects. Many others don't. It's a matter of some context clues, guessing, and memorization. Glad you had fun!
This game looks great! The aesthetic is on point. It would be nice to have a pointer as to what a 'good' file name looks like as I definitely failed the first few ones.
Very fair. The balance of how clear to make the names was something we discussed a lot. We decided to lean a bit more vague, but we fully understand how that may not be for everyone. Thanks for trying it, and I'm glad you enjoyed the look of it!
I was so confused and when I started to get it I had almost lost so I scaped by my first fight with 2 bugs and 10HP XD but the second fight was still too much for me...
Very fun concept!
Happy to hear you had fun. It certainly can be tough.
Such a clever game. I may not be smart enough to grasp it, but I am sure it's great :D
Thanks for trying it out!
Really enjoyed this one. Yolo all the way.
You are far from the only one, and I'm happy to hear it!
I play this game everyday of my life!
Glad to hear you liked it!
The folder and file names can be very funny, and trying to figure out and remember what the different files do is a nice balance of memorization and gambling.
That was the intention. Glad to hear it worked for you!
This hits home
Glad to hear it!
