The idea was sort of meant to be that the role reversed was compared to a normal adventurer who would be caught in a large number of traps or fighting skeletons, since you're the one tackling the dungeon it's more of a stealth puzzler. I feel like if we had added a bit more into it we could have hit that idea but we ran out of time for that.
Thank you so much for the feedback and enjoying it!
This was made in Unity using their 2D engine. It was my first time actually messing with the 2D side or the tilemapping so there is some ugliness like you mentioned with the bridge ^^; I usually do 3D but figured it'd be too hard to try and get art for that together in a game jam set of time!
Yeah that's super fair! I think the original idea was going to be to have a UI element that would show what you last interacted with? Now that I'm rested from the jam I actually think I know how I'd do that, with like... an additional camera pointing at it showing on the HUD to show its state. Or even just a symbol of on or off for the switches. We ran out of time for that and a few other polish things but I'm glad you enjoyed the experience!
Played it again and while the gifs didn't really help that much I did realize what my issue last time was (it's a wonder what sleep and a break from doing ratings will do for you).
The amount you moved the room in the last room is stored between rooms, and importantly is also limited. So my invisible wall when I got to the first real room was just that I needed to push up against the wall on the right to reset my movement, before going left. It just wasn't super intuitive with that!
Definitely, but it did lead to chaos and enjoyment!
I think also having maybe on the left or right of the screen a little acknowledgement of what the stats actually are could be cool. Something like I have 1 star in Health or 2.5 stars in Damage for myself, and on the other side the same for the enemies. Just to have some idea of the value changes (if this were to be expanded into a more in depth game, which I think could be a lot of fun)
Yeaaaaaaah we decided not to fix that bug cause who in their right mind would do that *pointed stare* LOL
It's actually also not a soft lock! If you throw one north and just don't have any other boomerangs out (they collide with themselves and delete each out) then you can reactivate the bridge! Glad you enjoyed it tho!
