Wow! This game was so much fun! The little hopping animation of the pieces was super cute, and the music and sound design was exciting! Also a really unique take on the theme. This game was quite addictive and well polished, well done!

Full score for this one, really original idea to walk through the levels as chess figures and take over the fallen foes. Smart title and amazing work on this game, great job! I'm impressed
Definetly a nice concept, I like the idea of playing chess figures and that you steal their characteristics to use them to solve the levels. But at somepoint the levels just felt too long, and the walk animations of some enemies were just to slow. Because of that you had to wait to continue to walk. But in the end it's a pretty impressiv game you made in 48h.
Well done
You can sometimes depend on luck to finish levels easier, but it this is certainly a very unique and clever game. Art and level design is also really good.
A very unique idea. This can lead to so many interesting puzzles and levels, especially if the player starts out as different pieces each time. My only complaint with the level designs is that there's a lot of seemingly unnecessary walking with the pawn at the start of some stages. I get why, but if there were fewer long hallways to pass as a pawn it'd be more fun IMO. Either way, I'd love to see a full game out of this mechanic!
Unbelievably good art for a 42 hour gam! Its a bit strange for the theme but still very good game. Some criticism lies in that in some levels, if the player died in some levels it took ages of monotonous movement to get back to their position also there were some strange antics with pieces going through each other. Other than that the game was pretty much perfect! Great job completing the game on time and also the music was pretty good.
This is the only gave I've finished. As an avid chess player, I found the game to be an interesting breath of fresh air. I was able to explore new positional ideas. It's weird that the pawn can move the way it can in this yet the other pieces remain largely the same. There were some areas where I felt the game was left up to chance. The last stage with the king, he didn't put up much of a fight. My favorite piece to be is the knight. At first I got take happy until I realized you become what you take. Put this on a mobile app. It will do well. Now in terms of the theme, I'm not sure how this fits in to joined together. It's true you become what you take but outside of that, decisions are isolated.
Very interesting blend of two concepts. The principles are there, but I feel like the AI's eradicateness makes this game more frustrating than vindicating. A lot of the time you just have to hope the enemies will move to somewhere you will kill them. Maybe taking a page out of into the breach could help where you show the enemies next moves so you can plan accordingly would be a good fit
You made this mash up work pretty well. I like the aesthetic and levels a lot. The only sticking point for me was that the AI was a bit too unpredictable to make a lot of plans, making it so I had to just react the AI a lot. Great job.
Cute animations and a clean art execution. I wish there was some more variety in music. Sometimes I found myself stuck for awhile with the enemy moving between the same fields over and over leaving no real choice for me to move. Good decision to keep the dungeons small in size for a quick restart on error or when one gets stuck and uses sucidide to start over. Give this game some polish and more levels and you can easily turn it into a mobile friendly version.
Guys… Where do I even start?
This game is absolutely phenomenal. The idea is so original, the art feels clean and is pleasing to look at. The music for the title screen and the actual game fit well, are well made, and isn’t annoying to listen to (some games have a grating song that just won’t end but I enjoyed listening to this one). It’s all just so good.
My ONLY criticism is the shrill squeak that my pawn does. It’s a little annoying to listen to over and over again. Perhaps maybe an 8-bit-sounding thump or clack would be better? I know that’s pretty subjective, so feel free to ignore that.
Absolutely amazing job. I will be following you all for more games and I would love to see a full version of this game!
SUCH a creative concept and super well executed. The levels were well designed and the pieces' movement opportunities made for an amazing game. Fantastic job!
This is great! Very clean aesthetic and solid strategic gameplay. I like the addition of traps and obstacles and I also appreciate that if you come to a draw you can still escape down the stairs. Really nicely done!
In my opinion a totally underrated game!
This basic idea is so clever to cross chess with a dungeon crawler.
The game is from the first second self explaining. I love the clean and simple graphics.
Also the game mechanics are outstanding: the figures may only move according to chess rules - but you inherit the movement of the figure you just attacked, which opens much possibilities for creative level design.
A bit of critique: the music gets a bit annoying after hearing it for 10 minutes, but actually it's also well done and fits the game.
I'm hoping this game will land in the top 10 - it deserves it!
