Finally played this! Hehe, life's been a bit busy,

I really like the concept, and being chained to an enemy that's out to kill you is really unique! I do wish this concept would've been explained a bit better on the itch page or in-game as I was a bit confused.

Besides that, I would only want to see this expanded upon and refined, again, I think the concept is very promising. Cheers!

I like the music! The sound in general fits very well together and does well to evoke a playful and explorative mood.

It took a bit of playing around to notice the spider reacting when I was nearby, but once I got that it was pretty clear what I had to do. I did have some trouble sometimes coaxing the spider out sometimes but I was eventually able to win.

Nice job!

This is a pretty nice 3D platformer! The artwork is pretty good, and the music and SFX are also great. However, I do think there could be a little more explanation on the mechanics and what players should do at the beginning of the game. It took a while to find that I actually have to lure the spider. But anyway, this is really a nice work for 48 hours!

Developer

Yeah, that seems to be the number one issue is a lack of a prompt of some sort. I'll add that in on future updates. Thanks so much for playing!

Cool idea! I could have used a tutorial, but I got the hang of it with some trial and error. Good job!

Developer

Yeah a mission prompt at the very least haha. Thanks for playing!

I love the art design and the music; they give a light hearted relaxing vibe! It took me a while to figure out the game mechanic, and it was satisfying defeating the spider! The little fly guy is so cute! Well done on the game! :D

Thank you so much. I'm glad you had fun. Yes, a prompt for what to do is needed. I'll add that in on the next update after the jam :)

Tried your game, but was not really sure what to do. After some time, i managed to get the spider to come to the center of the screen and be hit by the flowers bubble, but even after a few hits, nothing changed :/

Developer

It should die after 3 hits. Thanks for playing.

I tried to checkout your game but I can't because I'm on a Mac.  Consider making a browser playable build next time :)

Developer

Sorry about that. Thanks for trying.

I liked the idea. It has an interesting potential for expansion.

I like the music and the art is pretty good and clear for a 3D game made in 48 hours! Great Job there! The font on the start screen is basically illegible, though, so maybe simplify it a bit

I was really confused about the goal at first. I tried going straight for the spider, thinking that it was the goal. Despite all the experience I have with flies and spiders, I didn't realize that I was in danger and trying to escape. Maybe a different feel for the music or some more visual focus/intimidating animation from the spider could help? (Or maybe a mechanic where it's trying to reel you in every so often?)

Some of the platforms were a little difficult to read where the platform started and ended. Since this is functionally a 2D game, it might've been clearer to use more of a rectangle-y shape for the leaves the player can jump on instead of what it appears to be now, which is a slope. Also, having some leaves be jump-able and others not was a bit jarring. And I thought for a while that the goal was to jump into the big plant in the middle because it was moving and making noises. I had no idea I was supposed to kill the spider until I read the game description online.

Lastly, rushing from one side of the screen to the other to lure the spider around means that the jumping controls have to be really good. There were times I pressed spacebar and no jump happened, and I missed my shot at luring the spider. Tightening up those controls (or maybe just making hitting the ground clearer? Maybe I'm  hitting early because I think I've landed when I haven't?) could really help ease the frustration of that part of the game.

But overall, I can see this being extended into multiple levels and being a really sweet game!

Wow, thanks for the thorough review. Yes, there's definitely room for improvement. Firstly the plant in the middle. You're supposed to be able to jump into it and it kills you which gives the additional clue that it's dangerous. That feature is fixed now but I can't update it during the jam, sadly. For the spider, I wanted the fly to start out tangled and you have to wiggle until initially freed. The issue with the platforms/jumping has to do with them being sloped. At some angles the player capsule is just off the ground enough to not register as grounded for the jump to execute. making those areas flatter or using a line trace to update the ground position could help. Oh and yes, the text is mostly illegible. We'll fix that too :)

nice game.

A few minor issues with the game, but you did an amazing job there with the character models, music, etc. It looks really nice and plays well as well for the most part, good job!

Developer

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I really love the art, and the music is super funky, totally fits the vibe of this game perfectly!
Really awesome work! :)

I am sorry, but I have a huge Aracnophobia and I can't bring myself to play this game :(

The reason I'm posting this comment is for you to keep in mind that some people have it, and I think that phobias are something to keep in mind when developing a game.

For a game jam it's fine tho, I just won't be able to look at the spider lol

Also, the fact that it triggers like it does means you did a good job on the spider !

Developer(+1)

Awe! Sorry to freak you out. Yeah, phobias are a tough thing, and sadly there are so many that someone somewhere will find it difficult to play. My wife gets the heebs over zombies and won't go near Resident Evil. I appreciate you trying though :)

Cute menu, the aesthetics are pretty funky. I'll admit though, I couldn't figure out what to do.

Developer

Thanks for playing. Yes, I think a prompt would help in the opening.

Submitted(+1)

That moment, when listening to death metal helps you to read the menu =D
Nice visuals, it feels like there was a lot of effort put in it)

But the mechanix feel not finished and fully tested.  Spider AI after first look out of shelter just refuse to go out. Leaves hitboxes are not readable and clear.

Developer

It's true, I didn't get to as much play testing as I'd like. As for the hitboxes, I was a little concerned that players wouldn't figure them out but I tried to get the behavior to be as natural as possible. It's basically just a sphere used as a sight radius and if you're in it, it follows. But yeah, some sort of indicator might have helped. Thanks for the input and for playing :)

Loved the menu! I was a bit confused but it was a cute game

Nice idea, maybe the execution could be better

Developer

Yeah, I didn't know where to go with it. As I've had more time to stew on it, I think trying to keep the spider alive would serve better while using him to protect/solve puzzles. If I keep the current play style, there's not much to do after beating the spider unless each level is a new spider with a more intricate puzzle.
