cool game!

Developer

thanks!

I agree with others that it was a fun idea at the start. But I wish there was an increase in the difficulty with time to keep me as engaged a few minutes in as I was at the start and to give me a sense of progression. Ultimately though, I think you made a fun mechanic and I think you can add as much as you want to it!

Developer

thank you for the feedback!

Fun! It got less interesting after a while, so it would be cool to add more enemies over time. Great job!

Submitted

I liked it alot, maybe new ennemies could spawn overtime? So it gets harder eventually!

Developer(+1)

thanks! Love the idea!

Dividing your attention between stoking the fire and avoiding the seekers kept me hopping! Would be nice if I could do something to trap/fight/delay the seekers' pursuit--like make them run over a tack strip or get them stuck in mud or something.

Developer

Thanks for playing - Im already planning on releasing a post-jam version with some of the suggestions here, ill add your stuff into the mix! - mud sounds nice.

This was pretty neat. I wish that there was more variety to the gameplay - once you figured out how to avoid the enemy there wasn't much else to do.

The collision for picking up objects also seemed buggy.

Developer (1 edit)

Thats unfortunate, glad you tried it though! - also you double posted, might wanta remove the duplicate

Submitted

Ah whoops, thank you.

I didn't mean to sound too negative - I'm trying to leave people with helpful critique but sometimes it's hard to say that without coming off badly.

Developer

it's fine. Didnt come off as negative. I'll note these things down and push a build post jam with some fixes

Submitted

it was fun but i kinda just ended up going in circles and the enemy wasn't able to get me other then that its very fun

Developer

Thanks for the feedback!

Super cute and very fun!

Developer

Thanks! Appreciate the feedback!

This is nice! If you used a game engine, then this isn't your fault, but at times the collisions were jittery, but everything else was nice! Great game! Here's my game https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2020/rate/697413 tell me what you think :)

Developer

I did infact use a game engine - Ill take a look at your game now.

Submitted

may I ask which engine?

Developer

Sure! Unity - starting to think it might be my fault for not using circular colliders though...

Submitted

I use Unity as well, circle colliders may have been better

Developer

welp, something to fix in a post-jam final release I suppose.

Submitted

yes :)

I stopped at 2500 but could have gone a while longer since the bot is pretty easy to run circles around and the fuel respawns pretty fast.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! Youre better than me - my personal best is 560.

Wow, this game was a bit of a flashback to this years Ludum Dare 46. There were so many games about keeping a fire alive :D

This one is more fun than most of those, though. Maybe a bit easy, but that's better than being annoyingly difficult.

Developer

Thanks - that was unintentional :) - didnt do LD this year.

Neat little game!

The other comments have mentioned the same feedback i was gonna say.

But i wanted to comment to say i simply enjoyed playing it! :)

Would love some feedback for my attempt if you have the time: https://popsloth.itch.io/planet-defender

Developer

Sure!, thanks for playing!

I like the idea of keeping the fire lit. I think there is a few bugs with sticks respawning but otherwise great game.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! ill check yours out in a bit

I liked the art style, the robots are pretty cool! Rated!

Will you rate my game Magic Beans in return?

Pretty cool game! It will be much better if the player can shoot! Wait! How can I destroy the enemy?

Developer(+1)

You cant - the enemy cant be destroyed, only avoided - it was meant to force interesting manuevering - but the enemy seems a tad bit too out of control in hindsight...

I had a hard time picking up rope, I never was able to pick it up. I enjoyed the fire babysitting for a while, but I feel like it needs one more feature to make it get really out of control. I would have liked to set the buildings to the north on fire for example. I enjoyed your submission, thank you!

Cool game.

It seems like the rotation of the player isn’t centred at the middle of the player which makes the rotation look a bit weird and behave weirdly when colliding with walls and turning at the same time.

Developer

Thank you for taking a look at my game!

Btw mate, check out my game and tell me your view yeah? :)
