Duuuuuude!!! This is amazing!! I love this game!!! The art and animations are top notch -the vfx and motion is superb and the sound design was perfect!! had me laughing too -love the concept!! fantastic work!!!
Interesting game a little bit like SMB no health but instead trying to knock enemy out of arena.
Did find that it is easier to let NPC come to you near edge and then walk through him to kick him out with upper kick.
Excellent take on the whole juice thing and very good game (super fun to play). Not sure about the theme though, but amazing job!
Hello, had some trouble on selecting the character and fight. It seems you can do a small set of moves.
Graphic is pretty cool ^^ Gj for submitting
the joke around the juicy is the best lol , after all is excellent too , sound ,graphics, and the AI is pretty hard, you trained them too much. :)
Bloody hell that AI is hard lmao. Managed to win first try but I went 2-0 down and came-back to win 3-2.
Super intense and fun and I can imagine that with another player it would a right laugh.
I would say it was a little unclear how the attack heights work and how to block each different one.
I also feel like if you had more time adding an ultimate kick ability after say u landed 10 kicks could be really cool, and say you miss that ultimate kick u are stunned for 4 seconds.
Overall amazing entry well done!
Thanks, glad you liked it!, there are no attack differences, its just a way to show that there's a tiny bit gameplay, it's more of like a rock paper scissor, but instead you need to match the kicks position with your block position so you won't get yeeted, I did have a plan making special abilities, alas it was 2 days left and I still have lot of schoolwork. I'd probably update this whenever I can.
Hi ! Thanks for the game :) Here are my thoughts (I played the 1 player mode)
The thing that annoyed me the most is the camera. I think it was moving too much and following both characters too much for a versus fighting game. I would have prefered the camera to always focus at the center of the screen, so that you can always know where you are and at which distance you are from losing, and it would not be bothering while trying to hit the enemy because hitboxes are pretty punishing. You can still keep some camera motion whenever one of the girls is going to lose to put the emphasis on it, but I believe it should stay immobile during the overall fight.
As I mentioned, I had LOT of trouble with hitboxes. I felt like I really had to press the input at the perfect frame, else the AI would just kick me again and again and it felt frustrating. Also, I did not really understand how the different attack heights work (I believe it was depending on the joystick angle but it didn't feel really responsive), and I'm not sure it has a real gameplay impact, other than kicking the opponent higher and further, so I was just using the high kick at some point since it seemed to be the most useful attack. Maybe you could make the high kick make the target get bumped higher, and the normal kick being pushed away further, to get some balance. Sorry if the attack terms are not correct according to taekwondo :p
It seems the AI could move while being airborne, making it come back like 2-3 times after I clearly kicked it out of the ring. It would have been better, I think, to kick it less far, but disallow any movement while airborne, since it would seem more intuitive and less punishing. And last small detail about the AI, it selected the same character as I did during my first fight. I suppose you can do that in a 2 players game, but I was excepting it to pick another one, to help me making the difference between the fighters.
Last negative thing I wanted to mention is just that the fight intro sequence takes way too long, and it feels long mostly because nothing is happening on screen.
Other than that, the kick feeling is nice and clearly polished, which is great since that is basically the only thing you're doing, and I wish I could spam it a little bit more because I liked kicking my opponent :p The artstyle is nice and very efficient, it has a Nidhogg vibe and I like it a lot !
I'll play the 2 players mode when possible, because I feel this is made to be played by 2 people and not against the computer ! Great job overall :)
Gotta say an amazing game with good graphics and gameplay. Me and my brother played a 2 players match (spoiler: He thrashed me badly) and had a lot of fun!! Hope this gets expanded.
Great game! Looked like it took almost a month to make it. Neatly polished. Nailed the juice part quite well.
Awesome game! Almost every aspect of this game was very well done. The graphics are great, the audio was nice, and the gameplay itself was both really fun and challenging. The impact of the kicks felt really satisfying and was a very nice touch to the "juice" of the game, other than the, uh, thighs, of course. I'm also amazed by the AI - I love how you animated the enemy player's decision for their character, it gave them a sort of human air about them in the way it looked as though they were trying to decide which character to be. Additionally the combat with them felt fun, challenging, and genuine. I think the only issue I had was that the intro of the fights felt a bit too long - the sound effects during the wait were interesting, but half way through them I was just wanting it to be over so I could get to fighting. Other than that though this game was really good. Well done!
THANKS! for your amazing review and kind words, yes the Intro is quite long, I wanted to put a bell instead of the yooo sound, but I don't think they use bells, I researched about it but I saw none, I wanted to use the simple "Huuuaaaii" said by a Japanese person, but I couldn't find one, If you have any recommendation I'll check to it and apply it after the Jam.
Very solid foundation for a fighting game, I'd love to see this expanded. The juice is really on point, visuals and sound both. The one thing I dont like is the lack of arrow key support, that would add a lot for me
