How does your game meet GBJam's theme?
This game recreate our childhood's memory of being unlucky while playing the tabletop game "Jeu des petits chevaux". To win the game, the player must obtain the exact number entered each time in the box, and a 6 to get to the cut.

The game experience also draws inspiration from the "confusion" status of turn-based J-RPG games where you lose the control of your character and pray the luck is in your side so they can attack the enemy.

31 rolls here! I loved the visual style y'all went with here but I wish there were more mechanics to round out the experience—after the first two rounds I started to expect that there wouldn't be a fail condition. Thanks for making and sharing your game.

I finished the game in 15 rolls. I love the pixel art of the game and I love that the design of each monster is based off the number you need to roll to beat them too. Very charming game.

Nice graphics, and on point thematically. Sound would have been nice, as well as some more gameplay than hitting A on repeat. There needs to be decisions to make gameplay feel satisfying. Thanks for sharing your creation.

42 rolls!
Nice graphics, the biggest problem of the game imo is that there's NO gameplay. I don't think hitting a button to roll a dice can be passed as gameplay. I think you could've been a little bit more inventive in this area.

I really like the graphics and it feels like a Game Boy game, but I would have liked to have a bit more influence on what’s happening

Any comment on the gameplay would really be beating a dead horse, it's a solid proof of concept but needs a bit of fleshing out so the player can feel like they actually can make a difference. The game looks great, solid character design and overall polished presentation.

Those characters are fantastic! Gameplay is a bit lacking though. Maybe add a few other elements to allow the player to interact in some way. Nice work!

I really enjoyed this as a great implementation of a super straightforward game. The character designs were so great, I loved how the monsters look like the numbers!

Cute game, got it in 36 rolls with a one-shot on 5. I love how the enemies all looked like their numbers!

Luck was on my side until I reached the last enemy. I had so much trouble rolling a 6! What bad luck! I rolled the die 50 times in total, and more than half of those rolls were trying to get that 6 xD.

I don't know if it was a problem with my device, but I didn't hear any sound effects or music.

I would have liked it if they had included different types of dice, which the enemy could also use to attack you, or even if the enemy had their own dice to attack us with, which would add more excitement to the game.

On the other hand, I really loved the character designs.

It took me 101 rolls.

I think there was a good idea here, but it needs to be WAY more fleshed out.  If I had to give one bit of advice, I would say add a small sound after every miss/hit.  I was legit starting to fall asleep, and getting the same thing over and over didn't help. But I love the art, and think it could repurposed into a more involved dice combat game.  Maybe you start with X amount of money, and you have to bet on dice to do damage.  so instead of HP, you have poker chips, and after you lose you have to start over?  don't know.  I also like how each monster was shaped like a number, but not obnoxiously so.

It's a good foundation, but I feel like it could use more options for the player to interact with it than just push the button to roll again. If there were ways for players to change the dice or ways to earn more dice or ways to take risks that would let me win bigger but possibly die then I would feel more engaged as a player.

31 rolls.
art is very authentic. shame there wasn't some music/sfx to make the experience a bit more engaging. nice work

The art is awesome, I loved how quirky it was!

26 rolls. I quite enjoyed it even though not having an hp-bar and no way of "loosing" made it a bit tedious after a while. The horse really looks confused (love the splash screen) and the monsters are charming.

As opposed of the theme i got lucky and finished it with only 15 rolls lmao. The gameplay itself is not interesting by any means, but I really love the number shaped monsters.

Very simple game, but pretty enjoyable nonetheless! :> The designs are cute, and the theme is- very relatable, admittedly. I'm usually super unlucky with those types of status effects, but my run was 19 rolls! And all of them were first roll except 3...

clearly one of the the worst gameplay, as you need to repeatidly press A to throw the die again and it’s purely based on luck (it seems at least) XD

THAT SAID, I loved everything else, the cute & cool GFX, how monsters are designed like the score we need to do on them and the idea behind the dice throw!! Alas, no audio T_T that would have been extra good with some!

GFX are extra cool, with good animation too!!

Great job!!

(53 rolls)

Très bien! I like how clear your gameplay is: Showing how unlucky you can get with a single dice-roll. I guess adding more would just dilute that design decision. Even if this leaves a simple game.

The unique monster designs kept me going and since there was no fail state I never got frustrated with bad rolls :)

39 dice rolls for me.

great sprites! The characters are charming and all the animation sequences really add some flair, the horse is a great little dude.

I think a version of this game where maybe the rolls are limited could be really interesting, something where the monsters fight back could ad a whole new element.

Oh and in my 3 runs my roll counts were:

28/51/45

I Really had the beginners luck on that first try.
