no wonder this game is the winner, it’s incredible on so many points!!
I’m not fond of deck buildings in general, but with the caps it’s something more interesting somehow
This is also one of the most best rendition of the second theme - and missing shot can be an actual winning strategy!!
excellent work !!!
usually I kind of shun tower defense but this one seemed a bit more original
the controls are a bit quirky and often I waste time by confusing them but after a while it’s good
I managed to get to level 2 but I think I couldn’t get what I needed to do to stop the snakes from getting my nuts so now I’m neutered in the most horrible fashion
Music is a bit repetitive but the audio is good otherwise!
good work
I couldn’t figure out what was the thing with coins throwing but the whole battle system is very interesting and seems deeper than I expected !!
I like that RPG thing and I think it’s a good implementation of the unlucky theme
Also the graphics are great!! it’d have been perfect if there were no subpixels scrolling
great work!!
A shame it wasn’t complete, it’d have been incredible to capture insects, and I think it’d make a great pokemon-like game with a really nice base scenario!! Graphisms are excellent, one of the best games regarding this while “within” the constrains of the GB (I’m pretty sure lots of it could be done on an actual GB with some adaptation). Audio is quite good too!!
I’m not exactly sure about the theme, except maybe for a dice I saw when doing an attack but that’s not too important.
I had a few soft freezes too, maybe I missed some content
Great work!!
haha I loved it XD a bit too advanced for the GB but very well executed! movements are a bit quirky and I got lost in the second room at some points but eventually I could finish it.
- I loved the silly enemies
- The combat system is full random right? When I got lost I ended up spamming space so much time
- the palette is very nice too! I like that the roulette use “pink” instead of “black” to reflect this
great work!!
very neat!! I enjoyed this adventure, it’s well polished and while slightly too advanced for the GB, it definitely has a good mood! The palette is enjoyable too, and the audio part fits well!!
I really like the character’s animation too!! and I love all the details given in the background (like the steward eyes following the players, the rumbling with the passengers’ baggage, etc )
(also you can get softlock if you go to the tail of the train at the beginning but I guess that’s my punition for not following instructions XD)
fantastic work!!
really cute!! I’m fond of the passengers and the premise is just … really a cute train I’d want to travel in!!
the annoying thing is that I keep talking to people instead of interacting with stuff - an notable example is that I’m really not sure how you can press the button in the cabin, since the bunny is there I so wish there were some kind of cute tune playing behind and a few sfx here and there too
I like the dice gameplay, each outcome seems to be interesting! not sure if that’s a bug but I feel like you can roll more than once the same dice
great job!!
I’m sorry, this game looks and feels great, but I suck way too much at it. It’s really too hard, and I seem to be able to pass things by pure luck XD
I managed to finish the casino without any coin, but jungle and especially volcano are just way way over my skills (and time to get better essentially)
anyway, the game is excellent on many points audio like graphics, everything is extremely well polished, that’s a fantastic job!!!
I really wish I didn’t suck as much so I’d enjoy it more XD
no unfortunately, the case where I had an error was scrambled (you know, with lots of random characters as names) so it’s useless - oooh, I should have saved it, often engines have a way recover from this where it crashed by using the build information
I’d love to give it another try but there are a lot of entries to test out and I also got lots of things to do IRL, and I’m rather unlucky with luck-based games so it can take way too much time XD
also I think one case looked like some kind of soft freeze, like no error, and at that time I panicked because too much enemies and I was also touching a wall.
anyway these were not so often, like 3 game-breaking, which is, for a jam game of this scope quite good. Not systematic too, so it’s probably a rare bug caused by my own unluck XD
the unexpected RPG of defeating dust bunnies and other dirty things XD I quite enjoyed it!! the 3D iso is a bit weird to move into, with some hard-corners but eventually you get used to. I took some time to understand the bars were lifebars!!
anyway, I ended up with 19 minutes, rank C and 3 dollars made.
great work !!
Wow !! definitely too hard and I lack of time to fully explore it but I really loved it - I even felt the “aw come on” I usually shoot when playing roguelikes.
Both the graphics and audio are really great while being on the scope of a gameboy game, and the mood is great as well! The palette is very nice too
I had a few bugs that made the character being not anymore responsive which, and I’m not sure that was intended as there were errors in the console, but fortunately they were rare.
The game is also a bit hard for, especially if you break your stuff quickly (out of luck of course). Unfortunately there are so many other games to review so I cannot give it as much time as I would love to
excellent work!!
this looks like an amazing card game but I’m afraid I’m not smart enough to understand it XD I think other people will be able to enjoy it to its fullest the colors are really straining on my eyes x_x also I loaded an empty slot instead of saving and I lost my progression so I kind of ragequit XD
a bit too elaborate graphically to feel like GB, but the battle itself does remind me of the card games on GB so it’s still there somewhat
Music is quite cool, and I like the general ambiance too!!
great work!!!
oh gosh, I really hate this genre of games so I had to take on me to be honest XD
- Definitely frantic and sometimes unfair, but all the minigames are pretty well polished
- I think it’s a bit too advanced to be possible as a GB game, like some stuff would have to be toned down, but there is definitely a mood!
- btw filtering should have been optional, and there are clearly sub-pixel rendering - which is a shame, since the pixelart is really nice
- Audio is great too!!
good job!!
now I’ll scream my frustration out into my pillow XD
I finished this short adventure!
- the music theme gave me headache as it’s too short and there are no other sound.
- there is some subpixel rendering which isn’t right (e.g. enemies moving continuously instead of on a pix/pix basis)
- a few bugs here and there but it’s definitely playable otherwise !
- gfx is pretty good otherwise, feels really GB
I feel like it could need some work to make it really good! Good job in any case!
I was stuck in the platform section on a rope then I saw in the comments there were some die throwing and so I retried
the top down is definitely the most interesting part! I wondered why the coin flip with the gates then I understood after a while. unfortunately I couldn’t finish the game, because I got glitched - all keys would throw arrows for some reasons - and I didn’t have the courage to redo again everything
good job nonetheless!
A very cool game!! Finished it in 11 rounds, tried a second time and made the same 11 rounds. It’s a luck game but you actually have choices that make the luck much more enjoyable.
the music is very nice and the SFX fits well, and the graphics are cute! If the die wasn’t rotating with 4-colors AA
edit: third time I made it in 7 rounds!
this game could definitely be addicting so I’m stopping now XD
an amazing game, would definitely be credible on a gameboy!!
I got soft-lock because I didn’t got one of the tail upgrade from the upper section but after a reset I could finish it !!
I didn’t understand the lucky/unlucky numbers however, it seemed to influence how the bullets performed or how sturdy were the enemies but I’m not sure how
Catchy music, a well polished game, with a few minor issues (economic balancing and the soft-lock). I also had a rather common, weird bug where the screen would shake, and often it kind of glitched the map after I eventually get unstuck (like whole chunks being empty, or having random “animated water surface” (with no effect on the gameplay) being locations it wasn’t supposed to).
the screenshake often happens in the middle floor, by coming from the right
despite all this, this is an excellent game, the best I’ve played so far!
GBStudio definitely helped a lot!! it would have been released with even less contents if I had to take on the GBDK myself
I will try to continue developing it after I recover from the jam (+ I want to get more at ease with GBStudio for other jams) as I want to show more what I had in mind
thanks a lot for testing!!
