Very good indeed. Love the mood and the feel you get from exploring the massive hotel. Love the eyes. Really good attack mechanism. Keep it up, this is awesome!
Super fun game with great art !
Using a flashlight to fight off enemies is such a brilliant idea, fits the theme and is very atmospheric.
Also maybe because I'm a fan of The Binding of Isaac, the style of exploring the map reminds me of it and is extremely enjoyable!
what a wonderful, atmospheric game! the 3d-ish rotated drawing of the eyes is very cool (i also like to do this, as you might guess from the robots in my game ;-) )
That wall stickiness of the character costed me way to much lifepoints, but I'd even call this a gameplay "feature". It adds to the difficulty, and if you dodge to the wall, you simply cant run as fast :)
Very polished, good entry!
This entry is my favorite one for this jam so far!
I really have the "Luigi's Mansion" feeling, it was a very good experience for me :)
I've finished the game (first try :D): there are a lot of different monsters (even if the worst ones are the most basic: the rats! I've lost life only to them x')), and there're even bosses!
I didn't really understand the benefits of tipping, the final plot twist about it was nice.
I just had a very minor yet frustrating bug: if our character is walking along walls, it seems we have a chance to be a bit stuck, preventing us to move. Quite dangerous with these stupid rats coming aroung :p
That's said, very polished game. Very well done!
I'm glad to hear you enjoyed my game so much!
Luigi's mansion was one of the main sources of inspiration for my game, so I'm glad you noticed!
I also noticed in testing that the rats were surprisingly tricky to deal with, which I wasn't originally expecting when I coded them, but I decided to stick with it because I still thought it would be fun anyway.
I also happened to come across that bug after publishing, but it was too late to change unfortunately. I have however released an update on github just a few minutes ago that fixes that issue, and I might upload the fixed version after the jam (if I remember to lol). That issue only appeared after I fixed a major issue that showed up in the last few hours before the deadline, so I unfortunately didn't get time to fix it then.
Anyway, thanks for playing and congrats on completing the game!
I love the RNG dungeon crawler vibes. The game crashed when the right click powerup collided with the player and monster at the same time. Having the players weapon a cone of light is a really fun concept.
I'm glad you enjoyed!
Thank you for the feedback. I'm sorry to hear the game crashed for you, but thank you for letting me know. I haven't come across this bug before and am not sure why it would happen code wise, so this does concern me a little. Thanks to your feedback, I can now look into this and hopefully fix it if I release an update in the future!
Ok, I've managed to identify the bug and managed to fix it! Turns out the coin dropped as loot was trying to collect itself before it was initialised, and that's what was causing the bug! I've fixed the issue now and put it on my github, but won't be able to update the actual game until after the jam. Once again, thanks for letting me know about the bug!
Good game, controls are easy to figure out, graphics were good, audio was appropriate and nice, overall a well done game
I like the take on the theme, being powerless, and that you need power from the flash light to eliminate monsters. The animations and graphics are well made, and I like that the intensity of the music increases during fights. Some more variety would help, but I was pleased to see the first boss. It was a little bit difficult, but I could defeat it. Well done.
It was very fun! Seeing only the eyes of the enemy in the dark, and revealing their true identity when illuminated, is exciting!
I’m really impressed by the concept and your approach to the theme. Great job! Looking forward to seeing more from you.
This was awesome! Any plans to continue development on it after the jam? I'd love to play more :)
I'm happy to hear you enjoyed!
Honestly, I haven't really thought much about continuing development, so I'm not sure. I am open to it though! I might even be able to add some features I didn't get time to before, such as room decoration and more enemy types! I guess I would consider it!
Also, since I have made the game open source, others are free to make their own versions if they want too!
Anyway, thanks for playing!
This game seems really well made. I did not expect boss battles in this game. And the flash light illumination looks very beautiful. The masked elements look very neat.
Ok, the screenshots and the thumbnail undersold it a little, but the game is really fancy and well polished
I'm glad you appreciated my game!
I agree with you about the screenshot and thumbnail. The mediocre images were a result of me trying to quickly get some images ready in the last half-hour before the deadline lol. Luckily though, those are both things that can be changed after submitting!
Thank you for playing!
