  • I hated you during that last level. It's like I died mostly there. Doing just one single deaths on each others and losing all my faith on that last level because the pressure was so high, haha. Had fun thought. Nice challenging platformer. Lovely particles and effects here and there!

all the little sounds and music made this feel very nice to play. how did you do the object blending effect with ground? good job!

Developer(+1)

I used the effects horizontal/vertical blur + AlphaRamp, that’s it.

Very challenging game—especially when you don’t realize the player can walk through spikes :D The sound effects, particle animations, and ball pit were nice touches. Consider a more gradual “escalation” in difficulty if you develop this further.

oh hell yeah this was my type of game. I hope you keep working on it! It got a little too pinpointy in the end but thats your design choice. can easily see that you create several levels that escalate like the demo one. great job!

If I started on level 10 I would have quickly given up. For some reason it took me ages to realise I could walk through the spikes, and even though I completed the game with a staggering 124 deaths I really enjoyed it and found the end really cool with the soft bouncy balls. I think this style of game is one of the most fun escalation games. It keeps you wanting to carry on because there is just one more additional obstacle each time. You've done a really good job!

I don't like much this type of games, but this is really greatly done! It just push you to try once more and despite being very late and I was expecting a super fast game, I was caught by the game!

I had to finish it!

I am just curious, does the counter break if you reach 100 deaths? :D

Nice effects, nice game, nice game page.

I have tried a couple of games so far, but this looks like a promising competition winner!

Well done!

Thank you very much. That was actually my design goal, difficult but motivating. I’m in the process of writing a devlog about the design process, so once I’m done with that you can read a bit more about that. The counter breaks after 999 :P

Oh good, it would be an interesting reading. I am always curious to know other dev's journey :-)
I am glad I didn't break the death counter! :D

I did write a design recap & postmortem about the Jam game now if you are still interested reading about it. https://tackertacker.itch.io/miss-the-point/devlog/674264/miss-the-point-design-recap-postmortem

polished look and fun gameplay. The minimalist art style and challenging mechanics make it a standout game in the jam. Great job!

Submitted(+1)

Very well polished and presented, as solid as it gets.

Found it kinda weird that you dont die if you touch a spike from the side, makes it a whole lot easier near the bottom left

Submitted(+1)

Very well polished, feels like a complete game, nice title art, very clean appeal :)

I absolutely love the art, especially how the shapes sort of "merge" together. Only downside is that is can get really cramped and feel nearly impossible around levels 7 and up.

Submitted(+1)

Great use of minimalist art style.

Insane polish and some great audio and visual touches like the music starting on the first death or the alpha clamp shader merging the shapes together!

Some of the best art direction I've seen in a jam game! Love the sound design as well. I liked how the spikes worked but I wish it had been more clear that you could walk through them, and I wish more of the level was changed each escalation(as opposed to just changing the first fall). I loved the ending too that scared me! Overall great game, I can easily see this getting top 5!

Love it!
