Cool one Brackeys, I liked it :)

A really good game, Brackeys. I really enjoyed it. The controls are smooth, the art is retro, similar to mario, which I enjoyed, and the idea is really great. I also enjoyed the music. It's kind of spooky and detective-like and it fits the game well. The game is quite hard, but nevertheless really addictive.  Though, The search mask or bubble looks like an editor when used, so maybe it would be better as something else like a lens or a magnifying glass.

Overall, this was a very amazing game.

Wow i have similar control / mechanic with you

Great game!  Mine is similar with the whole fake / real world thing, I like how even certain coins are obstacles

Pretty good concept, it seems you've been inspired by The dreadful whispers :p

Mechanics are cool but game a little bit too punishing. Overall game is good for game jam.

Very nice mechanic!

Absolutely loved the idea concepts. I like that even the spikes and bombs are transparent. I found that that it scrolls a little too fast for me.

Fantastic job! And thanks again for putting together this game jam and your videos! That definitely helped a lot!

Thanks to you and Blackthornprod I can make games now~~  I really like how when you see past the pixels its the Photoshop transparent grey squares haha. This is really cool!  My game uses sprite masks too!  Check it out~

I look forward to more of your YouTube videos!

Nice game! I love the creative use of the theme and the visuals are really nice, maybe just some clouds in the background to finish the look off, well done on creating it!

If you get the chance, I would love it if you checked out my game too!

Damm, I had a similar mechanic using the sprite mask :D

Nice work! I didn't get tooo far as every time I died it took me a while to get back to where I last died. I think the theme was embraced quite nicely, I really liked how the underwire of the game looked through the search mechanic, like an editor of some sort.

I didn't realize the search had a cooldown until trying to figure out why there was this bar at the top of the screen. If you hold the mouse button it ignores the cooldown :)

Brackeys You're awesome my game wouldn't exist without your tutorials

The game is difficult to the point of being infuriating. There are a lot of design decision that I don't agree with:

  • The camera creates time pressure, but one moment it moves too slow and the next moment it moves too quickly. Especially after having done the first part a dozen times, you constantly have to wait for the camera. Until you get to the part were have to climb up through the platform bit that isn't actually a platform and go back a bit and upwards.
  • It is essential that you use the search mechanic. However, the bar drains too quickly. So, you constantly have to wait for it to refill. So, instead you start to memorize the level and brute force your way through. Which defeats the purpose of the mechanic and is also no fun.
  • The coins and death counter are pointless. Why not have some pickup that refills the search bar?
  • When you die by an obstacle that you didn't know was there, you get no player feedback. Were was the obstacle? Did I jump right into it or almost missed?
  • The art feels like you're ripping off mario and the search mechanic is also kind of stolen from the Dreadful Whispers.

If you hold the mouse button the search area never disappears and you don't have to worry about the cooldown, this helps a bunch though probably not intended :)
