In what way does your game fit the theme?
The core mechanic of the game is the ability for the player to create at any given moment a rewind point that stores location and momentum, and being able to rewind to that in certain situations.
Moreover, the way you solve the puzzles is, in a way, thinking in reverse, since you have to picture in your head the way you are going to go about the problem and rewind that possible solution, from end to start

Did you write most of the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes, all the assets we used, from code, to sprites, to music, are made by the credited people of the team, except for fonts and sound effect, which are also credited in the description

The art is beautiful and the music really gives off that temple-esque vibe. The concept itself is also really unique, and the puzzles really make you think ahead of where to place your rewind points and throw the ball. I think that the game requires you to be a little too precise though, a lot of the time the ball gets caught by a corner and I have to start over. Other than that though, great entry!

Developer

The dimensions of the ball are part of the challenge, but I agree that it can be frustrating seeing the ball hitting the corner, also because it's hard to judge if it will. O think a good compromise could be to show in the trajectory whether the ball is going to hit something  or not

So beautiful and very good game design

love the polish you did here! Great job! :D

One thing i not sure if you intentionally do it but when i try to pull the moon i hope the trajectory will be only just 1 line  :) great job otherwise

Developer

I 100% agree with you, the fact is that I had to rush it, so I took a shortcut:  the correct way would have been to calculate the trajectory at any given moment using the physic formula and linking the points together, but I didn't have time, so i just throw multiple gameobjects with a trail with the same force as the moon. The problem is that it takes time to travel, so it feels unresponsive. I will fix it after the jam ends

Original and pretty neat :)

The art and music is amazing.

Developer

If you liked the music, there is a playlist with the OST in the description, they are just 3, you may want to listen to them, especially the last one , that you may not have heard

This game is a work of god,

bit hard tho, some bugs, but nice concept, gameplay mechanics is quite good, and interactive

puzzles are aswm!!!

Developer (1 edit)

Tanks for the comment, but may I ask you what bugs did you find? I think there are some not-very-well explained mechanics, but they should work as intended

The atmosphere of the silhouettes, the pyramid in the twilight, and the Egyptian music all worked together to create  an enjoyable, mysterious ambience. Maybe I'm reading too much into the design, but the phrases on the bottom of the screen seemed almost poetic, like something out of Rumi. I was not very good at the puzzles, but that's not the fault of the game, but rather of my aging reflexes. Thank you for this moonlit experience!

Developer

I really appreciate the time and effort you gave to trying our game. You can skip the levels with K, if some are a bit too tough, because I have to admit, some can be very challenging

Great idea for a puzzle game! I like the art stlye and sound design.

Really cool game! The aim assist is a bit slow but otherwise i enjoyed the puzzles! great work!

Developer

Yep, the correct way would have been to calculate the trajectory at any given moment using the physic formula and linking the points together, but I didn't have time, so i just throw a gameobject with a trail with the same force as the moon. Nice idea, I like the puzzles, although the difficulty curve is steep, and the controls do feel a bit overwhelming at first. The art and music are great also. I did find that the indicator showing where the moon would be thrown was very helpful, but it's frustrating when you think you are throwing in the right direction and then it hits a wall. Maybe shrink the size of the moon or allow you to slightly manipulate it while it's being thrown? Excellent submission, I really enjoyed playing :D

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

I feel like the size of the moon is part of what makes the puzzle difficult and is part of the game, but it is true that the indicator can be misleading, and i will probably fix some of that at the end of the jam, and maybe reduce the moon's hitbox. If you enjoyed the music and are willing to spend some more time listening to it, i'd suggest going back in the game and skipping al the levels to reach the final one, and then using the cheatcode left-ctrl + t + e + n + d. It's a bit hard to pull off in the browser, because ctrl + t opens a new tab, but if you hold the letters first and then add the ctrl it should work. Use it after the fight starts. If it worked, you won't be able to jump and you can go through walls.

Really neat idea! I enjoyed solving the puzzles! Some of the controls were kinda hard to get used to, but it was cool nonetheless! Graphics and audio were also nice.

Developer

I guess some more clear tutorial would have helped. Did you find them too fast or imprecise or just you didn't know how to use them and when?

Submitted(+1)

Nice job!

The game was really good and also the interpretation of rewind in the game. I kinda feel like the player should fall slower because it falls to fast which make moving from one obstacle to another was pretty difficult

Developer

Admittedly, the movement is a bit fast paced, maybe too much for a puzzle game, but i like tight controls, so i didn't want it to feel too floaty,  but that's just my personal taste, and all the platforms needed to finish each level are reachable.

An interesting take on the "Rewind" theme with great level design.

Developer

Thanks, i put much care in to that

Overall a solid game, really fun to play!

Submitted(+1)

Really cool game and, in my opinion great interpretation of the theme. It was quite fun to play and the music was really good as well as the game design.

Developer(+1)

Glad to hear that

Cool puzzles ! I really had fun with them ! Great job.

If you have time , play and rate my game at https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-4/rate/724912 . I would really love your feedback.

Thank you

I love puzzles, this is good puzzle. I didnt get the 2nd last and last level, will come back again to complete

Developer

First of all, thanks for the appreciation.

Some can me more tricky then others.  If you want some suggestions...

13. It's something that would be a bug in most games, here it is a feature. The ball has to "ascend" vertically

14. The level is meat to be really hard, and it is really frustrating (Sans...) and you can use your rewind ability freely. The difficult part is to know where to place all the Rewind Points so you can avoid certain death. There is a "cheat" mode, if you want just to see the fight play out and listen to that  gorgeous music. If you want to know how to access it, just reply to this message

Cool concept, didn't get to listen to the music but it's a really cool idea! Reminds me of Portal in a way :)

Developer (1 edit)

Yep, Portal is one of my favorite games, and it was an inspiration for the puzzle part of the game

Submitted(+1)

Cool concept. The music is great!
We'd appreciate it if you will take the time to play and rate our submission. :)
