In what way does your game fit the theme?
You have to rewind the gears/spring of a tin windup toy.

Did you write most of the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes, and we have the licenses for the assets we did not make (some sound effects and sprites)

Great idea, really great! Very fun too! At some point it gets kinda boring but when it came Thomas the train at full speed at me, I got my eyes blazin, pure adrenaline hahahah! Anyway, it is really fun and original. After the jam, try making something even bigger! I was thinking about making a big level with a lot of platforms and obstacles coming, and you have to survive, sometimes power ups would spawn at a random point in the level, and make a lot of different scenarios, get it? I would be really fun, and maybe a co op feature, dude it would be really funny!!!

Anyway, good job on the game, I loved it! Be sure to check my game and rate it as well!

Simple, yet funny game. I liked the art style and I also liked the variety of obstacles.

Well done!

Fun game, i do not regret playing it. The game-play was fun and the art and sound were quite pleasing

Good job!

Interesting game. I like the idea of having to rewind yourself to be able to move. This isn't something I really have seen with many other games. I am also a big fan of the art style (although why do you have to try to make me afraid toys?). A couple of things: one, the font at the beginning is hard to read. The style is nice, but not useful if I can't read it. Two,  this may just be because I am a idiot but it would be helpful for me to have a digital clock instead. It was hard for me both to read the time and focus on not dying. Those are small things, but overhaul the game was well put together. Good job.

Extremely well implemented simple game!

Well done on Completing the Game Jam!

It's a simple and fun game, the gameplay is pretty smooth too.
I know that the belt gets faster as you get further in the game but I think some more mechanics being introduced to increase difficulty would have been nice. But of course you had only 7 days and it's pretty good for that time.

Great job!

The game is simple and easy to understand. A little bit more challenge would be nice maybe some items on the belt that deal damage (the shark looks dangerous anyway so might as well let it deal damage).

A nice game overall!

(1 edit)

Well, the shark actually does deal damage, as it decreases your gear charge on hit.
One thing I couldn't add in time was a hit animation / iframe flashing

Some things to say are that you should make it clearer that you have to actually hold space instead of just pressing it (it might sound silly but it's not always obvious) and, as someone else pointed out, it's not really challenging, I can just repeat the simple pattern "rewind - go to far right - repeat". But since it's your first game, you've done a good job, I notice there's some effort, and it also looks visually good, so well done

A few notes:

- you should use a clearer, stand-out font for tutorial

- jumping feels great! The added particle cloud when jumping is a nice touch and adds some oomph!

- this game NEEDS a difficulty curve. It starts off too easy and doesn't increase in difficulty.

- the rewind bar could have been a more smoothly increasing slider rather than an incremental one.

- stopping the player while they are rewinding is used very well in this particular game, as opposed to some others I have tried in the jam.

Overall, a good game! Please try out our game if you haven't done so yet. We really appreciate it :)

What I liked:

  • Games doesn't start until you start rewinding
  • Unique concept so far from the games I have reviewed
  • Clock and closing time to show the players progress
  • Starting music reminds me a lot about Fran Bow
  • The game transitions difficulty very well
  • Broken toys art and animations
  • Music transition towards the half way point

Improvements:

  • Slowly transition back to starting menu after death or even game over screen
  • Metallic crunch noise when you die
  • Make menu control more clear to read

Bugs:

  • Didn't find any , well done!

Really enjoyed playing this game and it's very well put together all the way through. I wish you all the best for your upcoming projects guys. Thanks for sharing your game <3

This graphs MY GOD! I was just in the beggining scared with the cover image. But when started the game, I was very uncomfortable while I was playing. And this is a great point in a horror game.

Great looking game and interesting premise i just have few problems.File size is pretty big and rewinding feels off.Overall great work :D

The font was kind of hard to read, and somehow I couldnt toggle to fullscreen. Also the rewinding felt a bit unresponsive, maybe a bit more feedback about the charging, like the bar filling up slowly or the robot pulsating, something like that. Thats all the critisicm i have. Aside from that I loved the idea that you have to save the little robot from the conveyor belt. Made me feel really bad for seeing the other toys fall in there haha. I like that the music is rewinded itself too. The controls are snappy and easy to understand once you played for a bit. Nice game, keep it up!

Game looks great but I couldnt get it to work in the itch app. Also its pretty a big file size. fyi

Yeah, the file size is quite large.
Our game depends on DotNET Core 3.1 to run properly and we can't expect everyone to have the runtime for it installed, so we opted to bundling it with the .exe file. In hindsight it might have been a good idea to also publish a version without the runtime for people that have it installed already, so they can save a bit on downloading time
